I want to thank all of you for the race and the time spent, the race was quite enjoyable but i've got to say sorry to everyone if i happened to ram a car or two, it's my first time racing seriously in a racing series and i've got so much to learn on braking zones, times and how to overtake without causing a ruckus.
I had some serious fun
we have practice rooms for this lol :)

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
It's very hard to believe BTCC is over :(:(:( it was easily and by far the best series on GTP
This is quite upsetting too, but I guess the decision is made
I'm really gonna miss this series and racing with u all, we had some great and unforgettable times here :(

It's a good job you weren't present on Thursday...

Thursday will go down in BTCC history. :( It's also the first time that I've totally lost my rag. It was so bad that the "quick race" with random strangers would have been cleaner.

It's such a shame that Rolo is finally quitting the BTCC series, but I do understand his reasons. @rolo912011 - Please stay in touch and if you do decide that you would like a few races in the future I'll always be willing to join in. The BTCC has been my sole reason for playing GT6, it really has been a rollercoaster and you've done a great job. 👍

I'll be quite honest here and tell everyone right now, last season I was looking at quitting the BTCC myself. I actually told Rolo this too. I thought that the one-make was only going to be a short season so I planned to stick around to see how I felt. I'm actually glad that I did stick around, because even though I've had a couple of frustrating rounds this season, there has also been some truly awesome racing too.

In my perfect world, I would take a select bunch of guys from the BTCC (current and previous seasons) and race every Thursday until I'm too old and senile to race any longer. I know who I can trust to race alongside through the most difficult of corners, drivers that will push me and punish me for my own mistakes. They are drivers that I'm proud to have raced against and I will remember our battles for a long while.

I really do hope that Rolo returns to host the BTCC once again, Thursdays will never be the same again.

Yeah I watched it back and was horrified really. Punishments shall be incoming!

I'm touched to hear all of your kind words, both in thread and in PM. I certainly get the impression that this series has been one of the most popular in GTP history. There comes a time when hosting a racing series stops being fun and becomes work, and I passed that point a long time ago. The spark's been gone for a while but it's just a question of reaching the right time to go, which I feel is now. I'm just not prepared personally to slog the hours any more to perfect everything - I think testing for BTCC-7 is what killed it for me. That basically took over my life and I can't offer up that much time to this anymore; in fact it was so much that I've been almost unprepared to offer up any time at all. It might sound weird but I'd only want to do it again if I got paid, if that makes sense? That may be selfish because I know there are people who race here for whom this series is part of their weekly routine, and it pains me to have to stop because of that importance to them. However, I also feel like I have a duty to run things properly, and if I'm simply unmotivated then that's not going to happen, and would be fair on no-one. The competition would be half-arsed and rubbish, frankly, and the organisation shambolic. The fact I'm leaving is nothing to do with the people, since the large majority of you have been fantastic and I would of course like to stay in touch. I'm not leaving GTP and I'm sure I'll still be an active member, so I'm not going anywhere as such, merely massively scaling back my racing activities. I also play GTA on PS3 pretty heavily at the moment and I'm more than up for group fun there.

There are certainly a core group of fantastic racers still left in the series, and it's awesome that there are so many past names who were the same. Which is why so many of them are coming back for the final round..... (massive spoiler :sly:) Hopefully we'll see 24 cars and pre-qualifying at Red Bull Ring.

I've had an offer from a respectable party to take the mantle from me, let's see how negotiations on that go. Even if I'm not hosting, there's a #RefuelCaterham sort of chance to keep BTCC going. Watch this space....

My philosophy right there mate it's never been about how many sign ups a series can get it's how many solid one's.

Well, as it's the last race of BTCC, I'd love to snap up a spot for the final round at Red Bull Ring - bring HSR back to the BTCC and dust off the old driving gloves :P

I'll take #55 if it's still available, Rolo! 👍

Unless you have been specifically invited to race in either of the two remaining rounds, sign-ups to new drivers are now closed.

Personally I think that BTCC 6 was the best season. It had some typical BTCC drama, but also some really competitive racing too. It wasn't my best season in terms of my results, but I think that I probably shocked a few guys. "Who's this guy in an Alfa and using a DS3?"

Most memorable moment was that first ever win at Nurb. I was the new guy in an unprepared VW. It really was the most nervous feeling I've ever had while racing and the feeling I got when I crossed the line was just pure relief. :)

@rolo912011 - Have you considered just taking a couple of months off instead of quitting altogether? It might not seem like it now, but eventually you're going to miss hosting.

I sucked so hard that season! Only won the very last race at Tokyo because there were about 8 cars there. Always good to get a new guy up the front. The order has definitely been shaken this season.

I considered a sabbatical yeah but honestly I don't feel like the spark is coming back any time soon. I'm really very disillusioned with hosting and sim gaming right now. If I miss it, then I'll think about it, but there are so many costs involved that I'll be a brave soul to venture back. It's not on my radar right now. As I say, I will keep myself active on the forums, although I'm not sure I'll actually participate in anything for a while.

This couldn't have been said better Ian,
The only good side I can find here is, since I missed the race last thursday... I wanna add a quote from 'layer cake' (movie feat. Daniel Craig) "Quit while you're ahead."

I haven't seen any bad times like from what I'm hearing about last thursday & I'm glad I haven't,
so for me if this series ends here, only the good will be remembered :)

I might start a new series on tuesdays or thursdays that I have been planning for a very long time

TOP GEAR'S CHEAP CAR CHALLENGES

I will open a golden envelop each week which will include a set of car regulations and challenges
The drivers will need to go out and buy the car that fits the criteria for the following week, (additional points awarded if your car isn't the same as anyone else)

At the end of the season- the winner will be declared the 'new' stig, and the top 3 runner ups will be voted as jeremy, james and Hammond

The challenges will be very similar to the the 1s from the tv show, testing a range of cars and it will involve alot more than just racing
e.g. car football, choose a car for someone else to drive (fitting a specific criteria and if it looses you win), police chases, pickup challenges, fuel challenges, beat the stig, RWD challenges etc.

the rounds will be called 'episodes'

it will only go on if enough people are signed up.
is anyone here interested?

This actually souds really cool :)

On the BTCC note, I may have had a short career in this series having only 27 starts. But in that time I have learned so much about competitive racing online, how to handle it and obviously how delightful it is to race with such respectful people! I may have not officially won a race but I have a couple of podiums but I'm happy. I'm happy because you took the time and patience to deal with my **** ups and more importantly, that I had the opportunity. I was nervous at first because it was pretty much the first time I had raced online in an organised series and I was scared of causing incidents, getting penalties and making silly mistakes. But we don't want to talk about Brands... lol. I really wish this series could continue because I thoroughly enjoy, and I was excited about BTCC-9. I personally agree with what @Ian_83 said, take a couple months off, recharge those batteries and fire it up again. :D

To everone:

Do you enjoy one-makes, or possibly even two-makes? Or would you rather have a multi-car season?

I'm just interested in what people think.

Thanks

Two make .

Something to the effect of that civic and integra idea i had .

2 classes of vehicles but penalties would eventually make the 2 classes competitive .
