Thanks rabbit. :)

Leaderboard updated.

I believe now it's just killa_kandy, gedi69, SKD420 and sc61jgw left to vote (although I know sc61jgw doesn't have an account here).

So I guess the Golf is pretty secure now... voting closes next Friday! The Mazda, Audi S4, SEAT and Nissan are the other cars in the Top 5 at present.

It's probably a bit early for this, but I can't decide on a car for next season.... on one hand I (obviously) want to have a competitive car and be high up the order next season, but on the other I want to drive an interesting new car that hasn't competed before (most of them I have tried, such as the primera, havn't really been up to scratch..... and also, I wanted to run the Atenza, but if all goes to plan there are already 2 of those, which is a shame because they are sooooooo easy to drive fast, and a car that handles way better than the focus and is just as quick is great )

Done some testing and the clio I can tell you is decent. Managed a 1:21.5 305bhp 1200kg. Tyre wear on grip real. Tuned setup. The key is finding a tune which allows enough ass hanging before turn in. The seat was about 8 tenths slower.

To add perspective, the fastest lap this season was a mid 1:21 in the beemer. Clio not bad at all.

What track?

Also. I think tyre wear should be turned off. The FR's are somewhat level in opening laps but FF's lose pace due to tyre wear. But still have pit windows for strategy.

I managed a 1:42.0xx in the focus around indy last week but will only last 3-4 laps in that pace. Wear is phenomenal.

I'll add your Clio vote to the leaderboard, and leave your other 3 votes as pending.

Indeed, Focus wear at Indy was dire. I believe sometimes the pit strategy adds only a minimal factor to the racing, but (weirdly) I still think there should be mandatory pitstops. I feel there are too many tracks in the calendar which hurt the FF cars. It may spice up the racing a little more to have wear off.

I believe for S3 there are two major things that need testing:

1. The cars themselves to get the weights correct for FF, FR, 4WD (thinking particularly of the Audi S4 here, which I still think might be too quick at 1400kg). Test racing is a must (maybe on a non-championship track?)
2. Wet racing at High Speed Ring. Needs to be properly run through to see what happens.

Wet racing at High Speed Ring.

👍 wet racing could really make things interesting. The main pain is the FR cars.. Maybe upgrading to Racing tires (thus also Wet tires) can help? I recon Racing Hards will also, slight maybe, but reduce the amount of collisions due to more control.

Anyway I already have a priority for which car I want to use.. but it's secret :sly:

Indeed, I thought the plan was always to use Racing Inters/Wets for the rain races.

Testing it will see how the game behaves with wet weather in online mode and what we can do to ensure a fair race.

Am looking to get involved in an online league.......its hard to find good lobbies online. Is this league open to anyone? What days do you race on?

This is a proposal that needs to be accepted/rejected by Geeky. So don't do anything yet!

So, Season 3 is coming, and the car vote is due to finish. It's become clear that some cars are in high demand. With 8 cars in Season 3 there may only be room for two drivers to race a car each week. Third drivers in teams will not automatically get a race spot, as in Season 2. That depends on drivers missing rounds/leaving the series.

There may be situations where three or more drivers want to run a car. A fair way to allocate the spaces in each of those cars, in my view, is to hold a competition. This avoids squabbling and arguments which may spill out onto the track.

Therefore, I propose (along with killa_kandy), a 2-lap shootout to be held on a non-calendar circuit. (suggestions as to which one welcomed). This is an idea I'm borrowing from the BST V8 series. Drivers will enter my (rolo912011) lounge during the course of one week, and, using their most preferred car, will be allowed one warm-up lap, followed by two fast laps. There needs to be at least one other driver who isn't involved in that particular contest present to observe. I will try to be there for all runs.

Rules regarding corner cutting will be strictly enforced. Two wheels on track at all times.

For this to work, there are two things drivers who wish to take part are going to have to do:

  1. Drivers must select (up to) their 4 most preferred cars from the car list.
  2. All drivers wishing to enter as a team must make themselves known.

I'll explain each one in turn.

Drivers must select (up to) their 4 most preferred cars from the car list.

Quite simple. If there's a car you really want to race, say so. If more than one other driver wants the same car as much as you, then you will enter a shootout. You don't have to put four cars down, but it allows you to enter other possible shootouts for other cars if you don't get your top choice.

All drivers wishing to enter as a team must make themselves known.

Some drivers want to pair up with others (e.g. karsten/BosZ, cunny/gedi/johnboy etc etc). If this is the case, you enter the shootouts as a team. It won't simply be the case that the two fastest drivers earn the car. If one driver in a team finishes fastest but the other doesn't finish 2nd, then both drivers in the team will automatically win the car at the expense of the non-team driver. It sounds a bit harsh, but it seems the fairest - it keeps drivers together. If the lone guy wins and a team driver comes 2nd, the team will not get the car.

----

Of course, all of this might be pointless if demand is spread out enough. But the idea is there in the event of disputes.

Should the proposal be accepted, you will have from Wednesday 19th September at 12pm BST until Saturday 22nd September at 12pm BST to declare your cars and teams. When that's done, I'll post an entry list to make it all clear.

Shootouts will then run from the end of Season 2 (Friday 24th September, ~8.30pm BST) until all are done (maximum one week).

You don't have to get involved - I know there are some drivers who will happily turn up drive anything, and that's cool. :) But if you really want to drive a car, you will have to declare it.

Thoughts and opinions welcome :)

^👍^ just one question:

If we have e.g. the situation me and V8 team.

Let's just say that we both have Seat as prefered. If we imagine I win and they come second, third etc. does this mean I'll get the car or will an already formed team have priority?

Oh and will setting up the car be allowed for the shootouts or will they be untuned (as much as we can control)?

BST actually have copyright on this system Rolo our lawyers will be in touch sir.

Fair use policy? :nervous:

As for tuning/set-up, cars must be run to S2 regulations (305kg, 1200/1400kg, Sports:Soft, 490PP). Treat it like a race, so set-up work is allowed.

If you come 1st on your own, then you win. The team will have to go elsewhere. If a team driver wins, you'll have to look at another car.
