I should point out that the '1 car per manufacturer' idea doesn't mean that every manufacturer needs to have a car - it means that if there is a manufacturer involved, they should only have one car. This idea hasn't been confirmed yet though, so maybe Geeky can make a call on this? Cars are included on the basis that they have relevance to the BTCC, either because that exact car raced or because that car is the closest the game allows to it. So in the 207's case, for example, because the game has a 307 and a 406 then they're the ones we'll test - if they're too slow then we'll have to leave them.
As for your other points and questions rabbit, I feel it's best to answer them by giving everyone a big update on my Deep Forest times. Firstly, I wanna mention that I realised there's an '03 version of the Audi S4, so I have replaced the '98 model with the '03 one. This has raised an interesting question, as I'll explain below.
The times are below (S2 cars are bolded and shaded). At the moment I'm keeping all 22 cars in, but I'm aware that the '1 car per manufacturer' idea would instantly cut this list down to 17 and then 14.
If Geeky approves the idea, then since the 330/Civic/Focus/S3 or S4 are confirmed for Season 3, the following cars would definitely be taken off the list...:
Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04
BMW 135i Coupe '07
BMW 120d '04
Honda Accord Euro-R '00
Audi S4 '03/Audi S3 '02 (have a look below)
...and these cars will also be, depending on the results of testing:
Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02/Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 TWIN SPARK '06/Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98
Peugeot coupé 406 3.0 V6 ’98/Peugeot 307 XSi ’04

Updated Deep Forest times:
I've split the times into groups so it's easy to see what cars are quite close to one another. Still not found a 307 to run yet.
I know we've said that the Audi S3 is confirmed for season 3, but now I've run the S4, that seems really competitive. I don't know if it's just that I can't get the speed out of the S3, but it's not set a time anywhere near the other three confirmed cars. Maybe this needs looking at for extra testing? The S4 has too much HP when it's stock, but the power limiter allows it to fit the regs.
I think, from the Deep Forest times at least, it's becoming clear which cars might end up in the S3 list.
Seat/Mazda/Volvo fans can rejoice a little!
