Nah it's alright, the 207's not on the car list anyways.

The lack of aero parts to install is also a problem for the Golf too.

Btw hows the Volvo going? is that quick enough? And the reason I was talking about the 207 was that it feels really nice to drive, heaps easier than the focus. It doesn't understeer anywhere near as much. But one other thing that holds it back is that when you set max. Power to 305bhp it hasn't got the full 490pp, whereas the focus and other cars do. I also mentioned it because everyone had mentioned having 1 car per manufacturer, and I knew the 307 hatch was too slow and I doubt the 406 is much good (don't know, just a guess) so I thought we could add the 207 as the contender for Peugeot. Oh well, maybe not, just a thought

I should point out that the '1 car per manufacturer' idea doesn't mean that every manufacturer needs to have a car - it means that if there is a manufacturer involved, they should only have one car. This idea hasn't been confirmed yet though, so maybe Geeky can make a call on this? Cars are included on the basis that they have relevance to the BTCC, either because that exact car raced or because that car is the closest the game allows to it. So in the 207's case, for example, because the game has a 307 and a 406 then they're the ones we'll test - if they're too slow then we'll have to leave them.

As for your other points and questions rabbit, I feel it's best to answer them by giving everyone a big update on my Deep Forest times. Firstly, I wanna mention that I realised there's an '03 version of the Audi S4, so I have replaced the '98 model with the '03 one. This has raised an interesting question, as I'll explain below.

The times are below (S2 cars are bolded and shaded). At the moment I'm keeping all 22 cars in, but I'm aware that the '1 car per manufacturer' idea would instantly cut this list down to 17 and then 14.

If Geeky approves the idea, then since the 330/Civic/Focus/S3 or S4 are confirmed for Season 3, the following cars would definitely be taken off the list...:

Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04
BMW 135i Coupe '07
BMW 120d '04
Honda Accord Euro-R '00
Audi S4 '03/Audi S3 '02 (have a look below)

...and these cars will also be, depending on the results of testing:

Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02/Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 TWIN SPARK '06/Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V '98
Peugeot coupé 406 3.0 V6 ’98/Peugeot 307 XSi ’04

--------

Updated Deep Forest times:

I've split the times into groups so it's easy to see what cars are quite close to one another. Still not found a 307 to run yet.

I know we've said that the Audi S3 is confirmed for season 3, but now I've run the S4, that seems really competitive. I don't know if it's just that I can't get the speed out of the S3, but it's not set a time anywhere near the other three confirmed cars. Maybe this needs looking at for extra testing? The S4 has too much HP when it's stock, but the power limiter allows it to fit the regs.

I think, from the Deep Forest times at least, it's becoming clear which cars might end up in the S3 list.

Seat/Mazda/Volvo fans can rejoice a little! :)

WOW, just wow, great job rolo!
Exited to see so many cars being fairly equal :)
S3 is starting to look promising 👍
The 147 TS and Vectra are horribly slow compared to the others!

from 5th to 11th the cars seems quite equal. any tune on any of them? or you raced them untuned?

I have a proposal to organize S3:
when we'll decide teams? 'Cause in my case could be fun make a team with kar, also could be fun have custom graphics usable for tabs, presentation etc (and colour matched team cars would be nice IMHO)

That would be very nice and that's what some people tried with the team logo and picture of the car.

I like the idea 👍
One Car per manufacturer makes it more varied :)

You have defently done alot of work,
Splitting them into groups shows of the cars that are close and ones which are slightly faster and slower 👍

@karsten, I ran all the cars tuned to S2 regulations, but they were not set up in any way. Maybe I'm just a very consistent driver, but those times look awfully close!

@BosZ, I'm sure people can make teams, but the cars everyone will run haven't been decided yet.

@Geeky, thanks for clarifying, so that means there will only be one car per manufacturer. Updated car list (sorted by manufacturer thanks to morten):

Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02
Audi S3 '02
Audi S4 '98
BMW 330i '05
Ford Focus ST '06
Honda Civic Type R '08
Lexus IS200 '98
Mazda Atenza Sport 25Z '07
Nissan PRIMERA 20V (EU) ’01
Opel Vectra 3.2 V6 '03
Peugeot 307 XSi ’04
Peugeot coupé 406 3.0 V6 ’98
Renault Clio Renault Sport '02
Seat Ibiza Cupra '04
Volvo S60 T-5 Sport ’03
VW Golf V GTI '05

I know there are still two Audis and two Peugeots, and that's because

  • we need to decide if we are going to use the Audi S3 or S4 (see post above)
  • we need to see which of the Peugeots is quicker

Opinions on the Audi situation needed. If people would rather just keep the S3 then I'll take the S4 off the list.

Just to let you know, I've moved on to test at Grand Valley East now. Times to come later this week.

I'm taking on killa's idea and am averaging the times across both tracks in a spreadsheet, which I'll post when done.

Definitely don't fancy doing another track after that though!

Should also give props to Rob for doing times at Autumn Ring. Hopefully when he returns from holiday he can run the remaining cars - then it would be 3 out of 10 tracks complete!

(I'm not expecting that we'll run on all 10 - 4 or 5 should be representative enough)

concerning the pegeout, i thied them and the 406 seems to be a bit better overall if tuned... Not that it would be my car of choice to say so :D it's a lightly faster Vectra like car :D

Even Massa is faster than our vectras

Just to say me and kar are preparing new video for season 3 intro;) hope geeky will appreciate

I finally found a 307, but as it was slower than the 406 at both Deep Forest and Grand Valley East, it can be taken off the car list. Down to 15 cars now.

Grand Valley East times have been completed, and here are the results:

I've now used killa's idea, and have averaged the testing times across the tracks where running is complete - these results are below:

I think I'm gonna run at Indianapolis too, but then that will be it. Once that's done I think that bottom group of Vectra/IS200/406 could possibly be taken off, if they're still at the back of the pack, which would then leave 12 cars.

The Audi S3 gets slower and slower..., and it's also worth pointing out how those top three cars are pulling clear.

great work, i would just like to point out that the cars that suffer the most of untuned test are FR and AWD so the group could be even more closer

indeed, the S3 in particular, handles like a rear-wheel drive car! The rear is so unstable under braking and turn in...

I'll admit I'm probably not as good with FR cars.

didn't mean to brush off your work, it's just that bmw proved how fast they are and i tested the s4 long ago and i remember it was an astonishing car :)

the first 8-9 cars look good so far

Hopefully in the next week or so a big free-run test session can be organised, so lots of running can be done.

Great work mate. So how many drivers are there participating in the average times?

Well it's just me and Rob at the moment, I think. If anyone else is doing any running they're definitely not posting times.

I've done Deep Forest and Grand Valley East, and I'm in the process of doing Indianapolis, then that's me done.

Rob's doing Autumn Ring at the mo, but he's on holiday so those times aren't finished yet. :)

Me and kar are ready for testing (altough now we are busy on season 3 intro video :) ), just tell when you want to do test day :)

You can run the list of cars on any track from this season's calendar whenever you want (so long as it's not one that has already been done). Just run the cars and note the times, then post them here :)

fine, but I thought about a group test like the other time after Monza race

Yup, hopefully I can get round to organising one in the next week or so. Not a race this time though, but a group free run.

Maybe I'll post about that later.

Indianapolis done, and that then completes my three tracks. Times:

I've added Rob's times from Autumn Ring, but I won't add them to the average times until all the cars are run.

So yeah, my work here is done. Obviously the more that can chip in at other tracks, the better.

I'm gonna suggest the Lexus and Peugeot be removed from the list now, if the majority agree? That would cut the list to 13 cars.

It's very grippy in the slow corners at Indy, and very good on straight line speed. Whilst all the FF cars are understeering everywhere, the S4 just hugs the corners :)

I'm unsure about the Primera on the basis of this, the understeer was absolutely horrendous, lol
