Well, honestly car doesnt matter that much to me. I have a history of RWD cars and I find these easier to control. But if it turns out a Seat is available I just might take it :)

I'm not too fust either really.

Good racing spirit right there^ :)

Of course we all have our preferred cars and drivetrains, but there also comes a time where we'll have to try something different.. I tried a SC this season so I've filled my quota

What happened to SKD420? I thought teams weren't allowed four drivers? Bit imbalanced, when the Fords, Audis and Vectras have only two, isn't it?

What happened to SKD420?

Just what I was thinking. It doesn't seem like he's been checking back for some time so I thought he had signed out and that this would leave a space at Ebay. But I'll wait and see tonight.

OK :)

Leaderboard updated, I think for the final time. Unless anything changes in the next hour, these will be the 5 new cars.

--------

EDIT:

The Season 3 car vote is now closed. (yeah it's a few minutes early but I think everyone who will vote has voted)

Official Car List for Season 3 of the BTCC Online Championship:

BMW 330i '05
ford-logo-big.jpg
Ford Focus ST '06
honda_logo.png
Honda Civic Type R '08
vw_logo.jpg
VW Golf V GTI '05
mazda_30x30.gif
Mazda Atenza Sport 25Z '07
logo_seat.gif
SEAT Ibiza Cupra '04
audi_logo.jpg
Audi S4 '03
index_renault_s.jpg
Renault Clio Renaultsport '02

There are two spaces available for each car, which can be either one team, or two independent entries.

-------

In case, for whatever reason, a car proves unequal to the field during Season 3, then the remaining cars in the vote can be 'reserves', and are listed in preference order:

Nissan Primera 20V (EU) '01
Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02
Volvo S60 T-5 Sport '03

The Audi S3 can act as backup for the S4 if there's inequalities with that car that can't be fixed by changing weight or something else.

--------

Now, to the next part. Picking cars to drive. Registered Season 2 drivers have priority over newcomers.

There's still no agreement on the best way to do this. There are three proposals:

  • karsten's 'Reverse Points-Per-Race' method
  • rolo and killa's '2-lap shootout' method
  • gedi and johnboy's 'Free choice' method
If you have an idea for another method, please raise it as soon as possible.

If you want to team up with someone, do it now! It will affect all of the methods!

The sooner we decide, the sooner Season 3 starts. I propose we vote on which method to use. This vote will be open in the Season 3 thread until Wednesday 19th September at 12pm BST. That way, we can get our choosing done pretty much as soon as Season 2 ends next week. Then we can get on with pre-season testing.

That is all :)

-----------

I'm voting for the shootout method.

Code:
[B][SIZE="3"]Free Choice             - 3
Shootout - 2
Reverse Points-Per-Race - 1[/SIZE][/B]

fre choice is a cool idea untill all run the same car on the same track and switch from car to car... unless this is forbidden.

i vote for the reverse points

I think there would be a mixed grid due to peoples driving styles, drivetrains.

I vote for free choice

If the cars are tested and even it will come down to personal preference 4wd FF FR all have there supporters cant see 16 Ford Focus lining up.:)

Looking at this series and the testing you have done is very extensive and should results in good close races. Just wondering, how many people have you got? (looking for a space :P) and do these cars have aero (rear wing)?

Who are you buster?

I'd say if there is a conflict of teams/drivers wanting the same car, talk about it like the mature people we hopefully are. If that fails, then use one of the "backup plans" :)

I'll take that as a 'free choice' vote.

@kartman: I think we're full right now (if BosZ were racing today it would be a 16-car grid), but keep an eye out, Season 3 will be starting soon :)

But the thing about free choice is that there are gonna be multiple drivers wanting the same cars. How do you settle this?

cheers pal, i will be keeping a watchful eye on things. I like the wide variety of cars. If there is a reserve list could you put me down for a West Surrey Racing 330i please? Bright orange :P

Cheers to that.

I don't agree on that I should be classed as "newcomer". Mind you at times I were the only thread for the Hondas in S1 (Suzuka East anyone?) and I deliberately chose to spent time doing NOTHING as the SC in this season.
I'm guessing that says what I wanted to say :)

Which alternative do you want to vote for?

@kartman: I'll put you down. Add Geeky30 on PSN in case a space comes up. :)

@rally: well, if you race an S2 car in either of the last two rounds then you'll get priority. I think it's fair.

Im all for 2 lap shootout.

Well then, R.I.P. SEAT Motorsport, welcome to the world Hartmann YUASA Honda :D

They bring what they choose. Basically no limit to the amount of cars.

I dont understand....

5 people go for the focus or something, how do you settle it?

Them 5 get the focus, that way everyones happy and you don't have people 2 races in losing interest coz they can't drive that car and causing crashes

Free choice, as you guys propose it, might mean my testing work was essentially pointless if only 3 of the cars get used, say. I think if there were to be free choice I'd prefer it more structured (i.e. 8 teams, 2 drivers). That does have the potential for arguments though.

Don't think i'll be racing next season but if my vote counts i would vote free choice. You could even make it that a max of 4 cars of the same kind. 2 of them could be factory cars and 2 satelitte cars like the civics in the BTCC.
