Handles like a boat they say.

Ah ok, might give it a tune tho, is a genuine BTCC car so would be good if it could make the cut.

Raceday tomorrow , need to do some fine tuning tonight . Golf felt like a mclaren at grand valley now its feeling like a force india :(

I know what you mean, I forgot how bumpy DF was, it really unsettles the car.

Force India are good, I'd go HRT!!

Mine is! Some of its the driver tho, maybe Torro Rosso, good in a straight line, not so much in the corners!

Tokeyo? We'll be ok before then, Monza will be interesting, but we have SSR5 which we'll be good at :)

Yeah could be nice to have it on the grid.
It's fast enough - on the straights, but it has a horrible weight distribution or just a horrible chassis overall.

Give it a try, would love to see what you can get out of it 👍 :)

Yeah will do, bit if a Ford fanboy so not really a Vauxhall fan, will give it a go tho!

Just hope it has 6 gears, the Megane only has 5 and is pretty crap overall.

Even with the fully customizable gearbox?
I think the vectra has 6 gears.

I can't wait to hear karsten's opinion on you trying the Vectra :sly::scared:

Season 2 it was good at Monza, rubbish everywhere else. Maybe a power upgrade would change things though.

Yep, having only 5 really throws me off for some season, although I don't know what effect it actually has it just feels slower even if it not.

Heard story's of lots of tire smoke and destroyed tires!

V6 so hopefully it has a engine like the 406 as the power delivery is very good.....

the only way to make the vectra competitive is allowing harder tire compunds (not tested it after the update) and/or upping the minimun weight of all the cars at 1300kgs/1500kgs so that the vcetra would be able to use some balancing ballast

i remember that adding 100kgs on the back of the car made it only 0.3 seconds slower thanks to the better weight distribution :nervous:

i think i did race with almost 80 extra kgs to balance the car on GVE and to have less tired destruction.

More power to the car is not useful IMHO: it was laready good only on the straights :D

Upping the minimum weight would knock out other cars like the Clio and Ibiza (and possibly Civic), since I think they're both ballasted from stock to bring them up to 1200 - upping minimum weight to 1300 would mean those cars are underweight at maximum ballast.

-----

If I'm honest, I think the status quo of 305/1200 or 1400 is good. If the Lexus comes in, it's competitive at 305/1300, so it wouldn't a big deal to implement the extra weight check. Power upgrades will imbalance the field, in my view. I don't think we should upset the apple cart so much to extend the field too far. I dunno if anyone agrees with me though.

Same issue with the 406 as with the Vectra - it's straight line speed is good, but it's pretty bad in the corners. I'm about to run the Primera at 345bhp at GVE, like I did with the 406, and I imagine the results will be similar.

EDIT: I think the Primera has to go. I ran it at 345bhp and 1200kg at GVE and could only do a 1:10.343... four tenths off even the 406's time at that spec. I don't think it's worth pursuing this one.

EDIT2: The Vectra doesn't look good either. Could only manage a 1:10.352 at GVE at 345/1200 regs, again 0.4 off the 406 at the same spec. Not sure if we should look at it any more. Tyre wear seems to have improved though.

My best lap times round GVE was about 1.10 too, so the Primera and Vectra doesn't seem that slow. Of course they'll be massively overpowered on the straights with those kinds of BHP. Have you tested the Vectra with a bit less power - like 315 or something?

My point was more that the 406 can do a 1:09.9 at the same spec, and I (personally) would rather avoid having a two-tier championship of those cars at 305bhp and those at 345bhp. Depends though, what does everyone else think?

I have, and I was in the 1:11s. 👍

If you need me to test.. Dupe the car across and il give it a tune and see what I can do:)

Since I appreciate racing with you guys, i want to hear what do you think of this championship i was thinking to run an interest check about.

It would be a mini-endurance series with races on the most classic tracks

(nurburgring 24h, suzuka, fuji, circuit de la sarthre, monza... etc etc) that would be made out of a single 1:00-1:30 race with (where the track allows it) variable weather, and light. With cars in btcc style (currently testing the cars at nurburgring 24h).

I made so test races at the nurburgring24h and bttc-style rules the cars can easily run under 10 minutes and beside a couple of them all the times are in a 15 seconds fork, quite resonable since not all drivers are skilled at night or with rain/variable time and a wrong pit decision can mean lots more time wasted then and car difference.

Also the semi-long race distance will allow people to be more relaxed and not too aggressive in while racing; no need to rush a pass when you have one hour to race.

2 days ago i made some test with Bosz and a friend on the aforementioned nur24h, and i have to say that it's an EXITING experience that all players should try, to start at the afternoonwith light intermitting rain, go on all the night and ending at morning under a heavy rain... With at night only your light and the barbeques lighting around you, with lightning flashes in early morning...

It was a different and probably the most exciting ex perience i had with GT5 so far.

So i'm asking you all friends before making an interest check, who would be interested in partecipating or testing it?

I'll stick the Vectra, 406 and Primera on share. 👍 They're all 345bhp, but fit current weight regs as much as possible.

@karsten: Depends on the day. Like I said, if it's Monday, then I'm already in BST V8s. If I get any time I could possibly test the odd car.

------------

Geeky's cool with replacing the '08 Civic with another model, so we need to test the '04 Civic Type R. It should be absolutely fine, on a par with the Focus.

People have asked me about 4WD cars, and as far as I know, the Mazdaspeed Atenza '05 is 4WD, but appears to be a very very rare car :scared:... so if anyone has one......

Ah man! Yes, please PM me with any stewarding enquiries, and I'll get it done ASAP. I've updated the grid on post #3.

Really low on numbers this week! Down to 11 now. 3 Fords and a BMW now missing. 1 permanent space still free.

I don't know, I've never used the share feature. Are you having difficulties?

I just know that shared cars can't be used online and there's no point testing them offline as the physics are diff.

Oh they can't? Alright, I'll send them over to you then - you can keep the Vectra if you want cos I've got 2 👍

Sent the 406 but will have to do the other two later - one tomorrow, one Saturday 👍

1.09's to try and hit right?

1.09's to try and hit right?

I did a 1:09.9 at GVE in the 406, with 345bhp and 1269kg (it's lowest weight). The other two were 1:10.3 with the same settings (345/1200). The Vectra will only go as low as 1228kg.

So for it to stay in series what time would it need to hit? Low 1.09's.

Peugeot's probably good at that bhp level. The other two would need to match the 406 time, really.

Question is, do we want three cars to have 40hp more and destroy the other cars on the straights? Would that be balanced?

Depends, I mean what's the draft situation behind a 406 like?

Not sure, we'll need to look at it with all three cars. We can prioritise that in the next test.

Honda Civic Type R '04 - will be absolutely fine to replace the '08 saloon we use at the moment. A dream to drive. 1:10.1 at GVE, and probably a little spare there. Was also the fastest car I've run at DFR by a tenth (excluding Audi S4, but it is quicker than the Focus).
