so in the end we run like little rain-scared kids... Is this final? i'll throw togheter a setup if so.. in any case it's a waste not being able to do a 100% rain setup.

Well the Audis winning by 30 seconds would only give you something else to moan about. :boggled:

I can't think of anything better right now. We might just have to stop mucking about now and just plod through with this setting for this season. It can be changed for Season 4. It won't be perfect, I can pretty much guarantee. But we're learning.

^^^^

having less surface water should in theory be better for FF's right?

It's been done to do the FFs a favour on one of the few circuits in the calendar that suits them more than FR and 4WD.

50% Weather is so temperamental that it might not even rain at all, unless we keep changing track settings until it does. Even then, the surface water rises at random rates - sometimes very slowly, sometimes more quickly. It'll be a lottery on the day.

Guys, you're gonna reallly really hate me for this!

Having done more tests with gedi tonight, I think we should use these settings:

0% Weather ( i.e. perfect sunshine )
0% Weather Changeability
70% Surface Water (when track is reset - should hopefully drop 20-30%, to roughly 40-50% by race start after checks/grid)
This is because 50% weather usually means bone dry race, and even with changeability at 10, our races are too short for the weather to change.

Hopefully this will have the effect of wet start and dry finish. Hopefully this gives the FFs most chance 👍

I promise I won't change it any more :scared:

I'm doing a little test rolo. I done 50/0/70

After 10mins to allow for regs an grid it's at 43% and drying, will keep you informed as to how dry it is how far into the race. :)

After 10mins racing it's at 11%
After 13mins racing it's at 0%

Will do some more testing tmw if needed.

50% is a hugely temperamental beast, as I've said. It can be bone dry, or it can just be cloudy, or it can be very very light rain, or heavier rain. You never quite know what you're gonna get :nervous: Last night it took me 12 refreshes to get it right.

Having run at 0/0/70 a little earlier, allowing 5 mins for checks/grid dropped surface water to 50%, and the track was almost bone dry on lap 7. You could easily switch to dries on lap 3. The FFs have a pretty good chance then.

------------

Some quick stewarding notes for this Friday:

  • Keep inside the white line on pit exit or you will be penalised 5 seconds, and other drivers please keep an eye on drivers exiting the pits! Crashes will be penalised.
  • The races will be 9 laps, with 1 mandatory pit stop. There are no pit windows this week.
  • Take care and drive to the conditions! Crashes will be penalised as per normal
  • Whilst Racing Intermediate and Racing Rain tyres are allowed, if you choose to use dry tyres, only Sports Soft tyres are allowed! People caught using Racing dry tyres, of any compound, will be disqualified from the race and given 2 penalty points

Are we all going to start on Sports Softs, or is there a choice? I think it'd be better if we all used the same tyre

I love wet races...

Doing low 2.02s in the dry

Well, using 0/0/70 means a surface water of around 40-50% at race start (depending on how fast we do checks/grid). At that level I reckon you'd be foolish to use anything other than Intermediates. I don't believe we should make it a rule though. If you wanna run dries or wets, and you feel comfy with it, then fair play in my book 👍

Audis aren't quick at all here, in the dry. My best is a 2:04.4.

Hmm, I'll have to think about strategy

The chav chariot loves Monza, might be able to sneak another win with a bit of luck ;)

By the way, great job figuring this weather stuff out for us 👍

02s?

Hmmmm my best is high 03's

Can't see how I'm losing nearly 2s to you tbh, unless your cutting :/

Anyway, I know we're trying to pick up the 4wd Mazda, but I've just bought 4wd VW Bora. Might be worth a test if you wanna consider it. Looking at it at 1400kgs and 305bhp tho its only 459pp which seems abit weak!

Ran it a while ago and it was sssllllooooowwww! It's not eligible though sadly, refer to the big list from a couple of pages back (here) for all the cars which are both eligible and fast enough.

Personally I'd like to see all of the 345bhp taken out of the field. The Primera and 156 have already gone, which just leaves the Vectra and 406.

I've confirmed the 147 GTA and Volvo S60. I know they're good enough, as they made the vote last season and missed out.

Is there going to be pens for chicane cuts?

Well we know the rules about two wheels on track at all times. We could have penalties on (also during free runs), if it doesn't throw up too many stupid penalties. Possibly too artificial though?

I can see a few taking the Michael with them which isn't fair on the clean guys.

Halloween party for the kids so don't want to be rude (not that I can anyway).

Fair 👍

Had a little chat with skeng, and we reckon it's probably more trouble than its worth to have game penalties on than to just punish cuts ourselves.

If we see cuts that prevent loss of position or lead to gaining position then we will penalise with time penalties and penalty points. Always report stuff you think is suspect!

Heads up, johnboy's out this Friday. Down to 12. Grid Updated.

The 0/0/70 weather setting is now definitely a certainty. Had a race with skeng and priesty and it was very close.

I may up the beginning surface water to 80 to buy a little more time in case people are late, or disconnect.

Cant help but think about the mushroom head dude in Mario when i hear the name toad

Anyone online soon ?

Sorry I haven't said much,
Don't think I have had much to say :sly:

Anyway, I would like to warn drivers that the race MUST BE IN MY ROOM, although I may not be able to host or run Friday's race. This is due to Family Issues so do not be surprised if I can't make it. #
I would like to have Rolo912011 be the host and the one who runs that night if I am absent "as he is my unoffical Number 2"

I am sorry :( I am trying all I can but sometimes family problems can be urgent :guilty:

Mate, you don't have to apologise if stuff in the real world takes priority!

We all enjoy GT5 but real life and family are more important!

Hope things are ok and hopefully race with you soon. :)
