Bugatti Veyron Successor: Chiron

Anyways, back to the Chiron...

The more I see it the more I like it as it doesn't look as bloated as the Veyron.

The anticipation for the reveal is killing me. I hope this car will be using some form of hybrid technology. If the company has the power of being known by every kid with a connection to the internet as the fastest car in the world, perhaps they can change people's opinion about hybrid performance. We've seen other supercar manufacturers using hybrid power to great success, but they might not be known as easily as Bugatti. When you say "Bugatti" to most people, they instantly think of the Veyron.

Hey 2 questions:
1. Will the engine be the same as the Veyron but tuned up (ala Huracan to Gallardo)? If my memory served right the VGT also has the same engine tuned up.

2. Will this Bugatti finally got its handling better? I know its top speed foccused but it could be better. The Veyron was an understeer mess.

  1. A lot of reports say that the W16 will be updated and possibly given hybrid drive and electrically assisted turbocharging.
  2. I've read the Chiron is set to surpass the Veyron in every way, which is likely to include handling as well.

Looking at the spy shot, it looks a bit thinner than Veyron. It looks like a car than handles better than the bloated Veyron imo.

TIL the Veyron handles badly because video games...

Yeah, I've seen Raphanel take the 16.4 up Prescott hillclimb after the event finished for the day and it was amongst the fastest cars up the hill, so anyone saying it doesn't handle is pig ignorant.

Seeing and hearing it demolish such a tight course was something special.

What Video Games? Top Gear compared Veyron to Zonda F. The less powered Zonda F wins for obvious reasons.

I dont say its the most understeery car in existence. I just say compared to the other supercars, Veyron is more understeer. Which is actually make sense technically. Its not particularly lightweight and it slightly lacks a downforce akin to the other hypercars (to attain max top speed).

Obviously that doesnt makes the Veyron a bad car. If it shows an inprovement in handling in the Chiron then congrats. If not then its still a good car. Its supposed to be the fastest car in kmh/mph anyways, not the fastest in Nurburgring or other tracks.

Then explain why the Super Sport then went on to be nearly 2 seconds faster round the TG track than the regular Veyron.

It still has the same massive engine with all the same cooling requirements - only this time its likely to have some hybrid gubbins too. I can't see how it could possibly be any lighter or smaller, given what it has to squeeze in. The Veyron was a small car, all considered. It's a foot shorter than an Aventador.

Dan
Because it had more power and weighed less than the regular Veyron. 💡

*Not to mention the last corners were resurfaced prior to the SS being run around the track, allowing Stig to hold more speed through the final complex.

And the white Veyron 16.4 was a private vehicle. Guilt, etc

So TG times are as irrelevant as any other lap time

Considering TG laps are often not controlled for weather, temperature and track condition... and are possibly not always done by the same Stig, who has a variable number of "practice" laps before the timed runs...

Yes... pretty much.

Yeah, but on real roads (because let's be real, how many hypercar owners actually use them on tracks?) the Veyron is a lot more usable than the Pagani, and I think I'd prefer a safety net than irrelevant Top Gear Test Track runs.

Well not exactly releveant then, isnt it? Even the worst handling car can be usable on real road and everyday situations.

In Veyron case, its brimming with luxury you expect from the most expensive production car. Pagani is more track foccused.

So... are you agreeing with me? From the tone of the 1st part I'd say no, but the second part does.

If you try to set a fastest lap on tracks like Nurburgring or other tracks that has many corners, no.

If you just cruising around, then yes. Though cruising is typically in low speeds. So like i was said, irrelevant.

There is a difference between "handling" and "turning circles".

Well to be fair i only said it looks smaller lol idk but in my eye it feels smaller. Maybe because the design is less curvy, more edgy ?
Veyron was small ? I did not know that.

I saw the Veyron out on Rodeo Drive. Those things are seriously small cars. They're heavier than they look in real life, to say the least.

The Chiron does, to be fair, look lithe in comparison to the Veyron. But I'd guess that it's either longer, wider or has a lower roofline - any of which could give the impression that it's 'different' in shape or size.

They are surprisingly small in person.

I think it might be down to the aero packaging giving the impression that it looks smaller.

Whaaaat?
It looks off to me because Veyron have a supercar design but looks smaller than the SLR that looks more like a GT car. It feels like looking at a badly scaled car mods for GTA games.

Yeah i think it might be that.
