Apparently, people who use Hagerty insurance are getting a code that gives them the Hagerty liveried McLaren F1 GT for free....

Jesus.......

Are these cars exclusive to Hagerty members?
Ehhhh, kinda not really? While you do have to be a Hagerty member (meaning having actual Hagerty car insuance), as far as I'm aware it's only a special liverey for cars already in the game, with no unobtainable changes in vehicle performance, so there's no effect to the overall gameplay. Plus, this was announced way before the issues with GT7s economy became apparent.

I personally don't consider their existence a big deal, honestly.

Seems like a cheaper way to get the F1 than buying the required millions of credits of microtransactions, particularly if Hagerty membership/insurance is refundable if cancelled within a certain period of time. Worth looking into if you're in the USA? In the UK you can typically get your money back on an insurance policy if you cancel within 14 days, not sure if that exists in the States, or whether it would apply to club membership rather than an insurance policy.

The rich get a better game experience than you. They deserve it lol

Edit: @Roo I'm pretty sure they only insure rare and exotic cars. So for 99% of the people that would qualify for their insurance, they can just buy all the cars with MTX anyway.

$70 just to bypass the grind for the GTR would be asinine. But, still a much better deal than what PD offers.
Strange. On PC, it's $70. Same website on my phone, it's $45.

However, in Hagerty's Terms of Use:

"If cancellation is requested in the first 60 days of the current Membership term, you will receive a full refund."

So it looks like you could become a member, get your code, then cancel membership for a full refund, I guess.

I just looked at buying a "Drive Club Membership", it's $45 but you have to have a policy with Hagerty's.
But apparently in the past you could and didn't have to be insured by them.
I asked her if she knew what GT 7 is and she said yes,so i told about credits being kind of hard to acquire and the $200 price for a car and that it might be a good idea to go back to the old way and just be able to buy the drive club membership, she agreed and would bring it up to her boss plus you get there magazine 6 times a year so it's not a bad deal.

You can get Hagerty insurance on almost anything notable. I'm planning on getting an NA Miata soon, getting it appraised and registered as a historic car, and possibly getting Hagerty instead of Progressive for it. I'll have to price compare.

This. Hagerty is pretty much the go-to for anything over 20 years old now, regardless of its "collectability."

Here's the skinny: it's an exclusive for Hagerty Driver's Club Members. Which I am. I did have to ask them for the code, which gives you the car and the livery as 2 separate items. Default livery is the Kokusai Kaihatsu UK Racing carried over from GTS.

I don't think you need to insure with Hagerty to join the Driver's Club. You might not even need to own a car.

No, I'm not rich, but I do have a vintage VW in my driveway: a 1985 Vanagon Westfalia. My wife rides a 1980 Dnepr MT-10/36 and I'm building a 1978 Honda CB750F cafe racer. Getting insurance through a specialty company like Hagerty was a no-brainer, and they've been great.

You "do" have to be insured with them.

It’d be nice if those of us who spent the extra cash to get the 25th AE got thrown a bone like this too, and not because of who we happened to be insured with. But I’m not expecting that kind of integrity from Sony/PD at this point.

I may just look into it ( not for the F1) but progressive keeps grilling me for having full coverage on my SA rx7 and my RX3 " your car's are only worth kelly blue book value" I have told them the KBB value is no longer accurate ( nor has it ever been). You can not find these car's for 3'500$ in decent condition any more, people lare asking this much for Rx3 SHELLS, and a 3,5000$ rx7 SA is probably not running, good luck sourcing a 12 A engine these days.
Hagerty seems to have much better rates and doesnt seem to throw a fit for me wanting to fully secure my car .

Just when you thought the game couldnt sink much lower.
If you preordered Gran Turismo 5 from GameStop in the US you got a GameStop-sponsored NASCAR stock car on Day 1. This version of the car was never attainable in the game.

If you bought Nike shoes you got the Nike Concept 2022 for free in the game.

The Anti Social Social Club sale gets you a free Tom's Supra in a unique livery, a car which has not yet been sold in the dealerships (for those that didn't pre-order and obtain it that way)

This isn't anything new.

They could have atleast gave us a voucher to purchase 1 free car like on FH5 with the deluxe edition. The credits and cars we were given were decent but if you want anything that's halfway competitive especially from the Legendary dealer you will be out of luck with just 1.5 million.

Wow. There is a lot of whining based on made-up nonsense in here.

If you have an old car.... an old Toyota pickup, a VW van, a Miata, or simply anything over 20 years old that is worth more on the open market than it is to some normal insurance company that makes their nut on Altimas and Camrys, then it is VERY MUCH worth it to look into Hagerty or a similar company that compensates for the true value of a car. This is not some "tool of the elites"... what a pathetic, knee-jerk, and completely uninformed viewpoint. Insurance through Hagerty is not only cheaper than most, but they will pay out what the car is worth rather than what some mainstream insurance company would. The only caveats is that they put a cap on mileage in most cases, and you have to prove you own another car that is a daily driver. This is a profile that MANY of use car enthusiasts fit, with cars that don't cost much at all. That guy that tracks his Miata is so elitist, right?

There are also many different companies that offer incentives outside their company for using products that fit within their wheelhouse... in this case cars and car people. Next up you're gonna tell me that getting that discount code for headphones from a podcast I already listen to puts me in bed with Bill Gates and Elon Musk. lol

Thanks for the laugh today guys. I'm gonna be waiting with baited breath to see what other outrageous comments come from those with zero understanding of how collector car insurance works.

And one more thing, if you're using the internet, own a PS5, GT7, an IRL car, and live in a place with a roof and electricity you ARE the 1%. So take a second to breathe and think about how unfair this really is. It's just another way for some to complain about how they can have every car in the game RIGHT NOW.
