Buying cars is still tedious in GT6

You've got a point. I went to buy an SSD so I could access my files and load my OS faster, and the sales clerk punched me and yelled at me for wanting things to load faster. And I deserved it. What's my problem? :(

Drama queen much?

That was not his point, this whole thread is full of people complaining that the system for buying cars is still flawed - that equates to moaning, I only have seen a few constructive suggestions to deal with this, the rest is just whining about a feature that was "improved" and "streamlined" already, but I guess that's not enough for some people.

I prefer buying the cars individually and the lengthy process to do so. We all have different goals for this game and on this issue I insist that PD has research that says it benefits their Brand more to keep it the same.

haha. OK...I insist you're wrong.

I never really found the need to buy more than one car at a time since I'm only able to drive one car at a time.

I don't think any amount of research can suggest that not providing the option to skip extraneous animations benefits anything; nevermind the overall brand image.

Wonderful. I on the other hand have gone on quite a number of shopping sprees in GT5 over the years, since you know, the game has over a thousand cars to enjoy and a garages that is capable of holding them all...

Agreed with OP...in the prize cars or gift cars I don´t mind to "open the present" each time...but when I buy a car...I want to have it at the very moment so I can go and do something else (tuning in general so I can use it in some event and such).

So yeah...it can be good to minimize that kind of things...it will take some of the emotion of buying a car...but also I have more emotion once I´m driving it.

Make it quicker! ;)

Yes, your was one of them.

yeah, mine was a smart arse response to you insisting you knew something that you can't possibly know.

but my point is that if you look through this thread you will see quite a few examples of people informing those of us who would like a simple OPTION to turn off the animations "whiners" and "moaners" who "want everything yesterday."

Well, for me it's not about being bored or finding it tedious. It's about time constraints.
If there's 3 cars in the dealership that I want, I want to get them and get to playing. Maybe it's my age, and the fact that my time to play is often limited, but I kind of view my time as precious and I saw the rigamarole of buying a car in gt5 as basically as tantamount of too-long loading-time, except knowing it was completely unnecessary.

I'm not sure why someone would want to deny me those extra minutes in my life doing something else than watching some animation & reloading a screen. LOL So peeps, really relax about that. If you don't find it tedious, one wonders why you're bothering to read a thread with a title that makes it clear you're going to read a lot of "moaning" ;)

It's more like tradition than a feature in the eyes of PD, they designed the "buying a car" scene and they want you to see it everytime you buy a car...even if you're sick of it when buying the 1000th+ car.

I think it's more than tradition, and did have a certain "benefit" in mind, at least originally.

Video games are ALWAYS designed with addict-ability in mind. ALWAYS that psychological component is involved. And I think making you wait for certain things creates a psychological reward expectation or something along those lines. (If I can find some of the articles I've read about this I'll come back & post them in case people don't know what I'm talking about & haven't read about this themselves.)

My guess is that was the issue behind the original rigamarole involved with buying a car.
That it was designed to create expectation and reward emotional triggers.

Thing is though - that's so 2010.

And this is Gran Turismo 6

And it's 2013, and they should give up on that, because now, it's all about the INSTANT psychologically with this stuff.
Instant sharing, like buttons (instant participation)... etc.

So in that sense, I think there's an argument to be made about them needing to move with the times on this.

On the other hand, the fact that this time-waster still exists in gt6 will be a boon for my Mom. As eventually in gt5, I generally have done my OCD car buying while on the phone with my mother, and splitting my attention that way probably made me seem more patient about listening to lengthy descriptions of the latest neighborhood gossip about the HOA at her gated community & who's going for what surgery next week. And with the sound turned off, it was a much better choice than trying to do chores while on the phone, with her asking me every 10 seconds stuff like "what's that awful noise? are you doing dishes? What's that alarm going off? Is that the washing machine? It sounds like you're talking to me from the dress factory I worked at in the 1950s!" etc..
:D

I prefer going to to the supermarket to purchase everything needed for the week in one trip, instead of going 50 times a day to purchase one item and come back over and over, with a celebration in between each trip.
No problem, I respect that. 👍
Adding a shopping cart to GT6 (via updates) does not necessarily interfere with the default settings. It's all about having the option of buying 50 cars at once, 50 times faster.
Yeah that does sound a lot more better and useful. Sure why not. :)

All repetitive animations should have an on/off toggle. I'd like to see everything once or twice just to see what PD did, after that it's just a waste of time. A shopping cart, something common to...oh I don't know...1 Billion internet shopping sites, is too progressive for PD. We should have shopping carts for all car buying and all garage upgrade/tuning purchases, but something that can be toggled, so if you want to take your time you can, if you know what you want and just want to check boxes that should be available. I don't want to prevent those that like animations from enjoying them, I just want the rest of us that don't enjoy them to be given some consideration. Having hundreds of cars in the game is great, having to sit through hundreds of repetitive animations to buy/upgrade/repair etc. is not.

What about simply a "Skip" button? Is really that hard? It was never a problem to me since when I buy lot's of cars in the same space of time i usually listen to some music, eat or something... but this is na option.

I really like your input guys. I wish there was a way we could really get this in front of the creative talent at PD, not a producer :)

Like many things in GT - there's not enough options. Gimme options, allow me to set my difficulty for AI in Aspec or Arcade, allow me to toggle off pointless animations, allow me to do this or that.

But also like many things in GT, some of these common sense options just seem to be missed many times.

Anyway, the ironic thing is for those mentioning Shopping Carts, is the icon for buying parts - is that not a shopping basket in GT 5 and/or 6?

I mean I love GT6, I don't have it yet, but I'm dying to get it into my PS3 so that I can play it, but they're really behind with such simple UI decisions and I'm not going to justify it this time, they've improved somewhat in that department, but still they leave out some other common requests from people. The ability to tick boxes in the dealership for buying multiple cars at a time, is an option - I wouldn't use it, probably early on, but having the option would be a huge step forward.

But, yeah I know another but, I like buts - these things are just so slow to be implemented that it takes another title and another 3 years to do some simple things. PS4 and GT7 won't revolutionize GT in this respect, at least - this is still down to common sense and understanding that people need options, not forced to do things (like being forced to buy a Honda Fit RS '10 when we have 30k to go wild with, but that's a different matter altogether).

Nope, that was called sarcasm with a bit of smartarse mixed in. Big difference.

I'm not bent out of shape over it the same way you seem to be over a few "whiney" responses.

I was being sarcastic as well - and I'm not bent out of shape over a few whiney posts. You called someone wrong for having a different opinion, that was what I was annoyed at. But that was earlier, and I don't feel like getting more bent out of shape over something that happened a few hours ago.

oh sorry, it wasn't you. My original "insist" response was to something somebody else posted which I quoted. Go back and check it out and perhaps you'll get where I was coming from...

I do get where you were coming from.

Just a case of crossed-wires I think.

No worries.

I never really found the need to buy a box of cookies since i only eat one cookie at a time

These "extraneous animations" are cleverly disguised advertisements that allow PD to negotiate for lower licensing costs. If they were elective or deleted entirely, would you be willing to pay more for the game?

Why do other games in the genre not have this then?

To be quite honest, it doesn't bother me. The skip & cart options/ideas were cool though. As for "tedious", I guess the information age hasnt got me yet. You young whippersnaps with your 4g & LTE & Lincoln LTD& .........
