 I actually like the "point". It gives the car some brass, and a very aggressive character.
It'd be great for running someone over you didn't like.

Now THIS render I like a lot. If the final Camaro looked like that I would want one. The current red prototype is really doing nothing for me at all. I would rather buy a C6 Corvette. Looks soo much better IMO. Yes thats coming from a guy who actually owns a Camaro.
However I really like the interior a lot.

Kind of looks like a Mustang front with the grill...

I wonder how many Mustang-Camaro body conversions we'll see now??

After seeing the actual photos I can't wait to get down to the NAIAS next Monday to check it out.

Take a camera if you can.

Oh believe me, I'm taking my good digital camara with a little over 2 gigs of memory sticks to the show on January 16th, I'll be returning to the show January 22nd as well to get a closer look at a few models. Look for a huge photo gallery come the night of the 16th or the morning of the 17th.

Good stuff, I'll be doing the same for the British motorshow this year all being well. I didn't go last year but I made a big thread on it the year before with a couple of hundered pics, I still have thoes pics on my PC.

I still cant get over how much they made the new interior look like the old... Its damn close...

Those photoshops look great as well. I still have a soft spot for the "baisic" V8-powered Camaros like our '68, which started life with a 327 and a two-speed automatic... But adding a modified '67 Corvette 327 and Turbo 400 three-speed auto changed things up a bit...

Anyway, she still looks pretty in LeMans Blue... I hope the bring back the old GM color choises...

when is the brit motorshow? I've been to a few and they are awesome. If the camaro concept is there I might just have to go.

As for the car, holy sweet lord that is one stunning car and from the looks of it is worthy to the Camaro name. GM just has to make it, could save them.

It's the 20th - 30th July down at the ExCel center in London.

Camaro to get Z06 engine?
Source: www.leftlanenews.com

In the first video podcast on General Motors’ official FastLane corporate blog, the Wall Street Journal’s Detroit Bureau Chief Joe White interviews GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz at the North American International Auto Show about the design and heritage of the Camaro concept vehicle. Yesterday, GM officially unveiled the new Chevrolet Camaro Concept at NAIAS in Detroit. Lutz has also posted his thoughts on the Camaro Concept on the company’s blog. He mentions that if the Dodge Challenger’s 25 horsepower advantage over the Camaro becomes a problem, “I would just reply that we have a certified 1OO more on tap from the ZO6 engine, should the need arise.”

The backend looks a little to close to a corvette backside to me. Maybe this is what camaro owners want. Something that is as close to the vtte as possible, but don't you think it takes away from the vette a bit?

Don't get me wrong, I am Chevy lover, and there is nothing I want more then this project to be successful, I just hope that auto designers aren't falling into the Hollywood rut right now by not being able to produce anything original. Just a thought.

Camaro Fan=Possible Future Corvette Fan to GM.

You get a Camaro now, it's cheaper, gives bang for the buck, and you can haul a couple of brats with you too.

The kids get older, you have more cash, you get the Vette.

Makes sense to me.

Hah take that DC and stuff it up your ugly ass. A Camaro with an LS7? Oh dear lord that would just be the end all wouldn't it?

Could they not just throw on some forced induction and tune up the LS2 accordingly? Isn't the LS2 a good candidate for supercharging anyway?

GM, and Chevrolet for that matter, wont touch forced induction if they can just build a big V8 instead...

Blazin, had it not been for the F-Body Camaros, I wouldn't have developed an interest in cars. Back in 1998 or 1999, I've developed an interest in cars. In fact, I've thought the Camaro were supercars when I first known about cars. Back in 2001 or so, the beautiful F-Body machines were no longer in production. No Camaro. No Firebird/Trans-Am.

Looking back at this vehicle, I was chatting with my buddy "McLaren'sAngel," and I was talking about how this car pays homage to the 1960s Camaros. Only difference is that the car is shorter in the back compared to the long muscle cars of then. My only gripe was the front of the car. If only the grill had that diamond edge to it, it would look best. I think Chevy's done a great job styling this car. How can you not tell me that this car screams performance? Look at its mean stance. Looking at it from the sides, you can swear that you can picture this Camaro pre-staging to do a killer run down the Quarter Mile. It must still remain a solid road racing car as well. Maybe when people want to qualify for the Valvoline Runoffs, people may take the next Camaro to qualify and race in American Sedan with these slick Camaros.

Again, my only gripe is the grill and lights. Kind of like a Chrysler design, but the rest of the car should be solid. By the way, the tail lights don't look too bad either.

Holy  !

If this car could talk, it would say, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Car and Driver Detroit Coverage
Some of the most important and captivating debuts of the Los Angeles and Detroit auto shows came from beleaguered automaker General Motors. Chevrolet's Camaro, GM's long-awaited response to the successful 2005 Ford Mustang, arrived at the Detroit show in concept form. Officially, the Camaro is only a design exercise to gauge public reaction, but we believe this pony car is on the fast track to production.

After the Camaro went out of production in 2002, Chevy faithful immediately began creating rumors of its eventual return. Just as the success of the original Mustang spawned a cadre of pony-car imitators, sales of the retro-styled Mustang have generated quite a bit of interest in the segment. Detroit was host to two Mustang competitors, the Dodge Challenger and the Camaro.

Unlike the modern Camaro that bowed out in 2002, the concept Camaro is a car that is clearly inspired by the Camaros of the late 1960s. But the retro look is only skin-deep, as the Camaro has a fully independent suspension, a six-speed manual, and a 400-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 with cylinder deactivation-now known as active fuel management in GM-speak. Speculation about a possible platform centers on GM's rear-drive Zeta architecture that was shelved last year after being deemed too expensive.

Interesting about the Zeta platform. All the hubub all year was about how Zeta was going to replace the aging W-body platform and intoduce new sports coupes...

So does it mean that Zeta is now US bound and we could finially get GM to build a real RWD compeditor to the 300C along with the new Camaro?

...Then I got to thinking:
Where is the new 2007 Pontiac GTO that was supposed to be styled like the '65 GTO? Could the introduction of the Camaro mean that GM has decided to withdraw the GTO from the Pontiac lineup, replacing the model with the Firebird as a sister car to the Camaro??? Its just speculation, but when you think about it, it almost makes too much sense...

God I hope they drop the GTO, while an awesome car I never cared all that much for it, never got me excited.

After looking at this new Camaro and new CHallenger I would easily pick the new Challenger. I thought after a while the look of the Camaro would grow on my, but it doesnt. I just dont like it.
Dodge did a great job capturing the retro feel with the new Challenger. :)

Imo the Challenger looks plain compared to the Caramo, I think this looks good, but the Camaro looks great.
