True, but how many of use ever had time to learn that? This is the kind of game details that will help if it is revealed before anything gets started. Real track officials would have made the weather or track issues clear before hand at a drivers meeting. If you can do you best to test the conditions on your own it will really help. If not, then join as early as possible and please ask "what if". I knew what to expect, but I had to learn the hard way about the pit exit line, and where the game draws the limit. I had to suffer a DT, but now I learned.

After seeing many of the replay videos we have, it is clear to me that drives are not careful about staying INSIDE the white lines, all the time. Karma will always level the field, IMO.

On the subject of FOV. It will make you a better driver if you understand how to set the screen FOV with your seating distance from the monitor/TV. It doesn't have to be exact, but will really help to find your way around a corner faster. Some of the video replays show such a wide view that its now wonder their not the lead car. Project Car 2 has more info on this subject. Or, 'oogle it!
Easy my friend. I started my reply with "true". I comment to your post only to bring more light to that subject of preparation. You are fine and doing a great thing. No worries from me. One can still teach and old dog new tricks.

Okay, so my suspicions were right on, about seeing each drivers own unique FOV when watching their replays?

This is something that I've been meaning to ask you guys but keep forgetting, so I'm happy you brought it up bud.

However, for as much as you and I agree on the importance of having a proper FOV, I don't think we can make an assesment from our end for others .

As you know, everyones FOV ratio is going to be different, as my distance from monitor - screen size - screen mgz etc. is going to be different then yours and everyone elses.

Now take that and compound it with the fact that you are watching their replay, on their FOV, on your monitor, where all that criteria is completely different as it's setup for yourself and so, there's no way we can tell from our end if they are using the proper FOV from their replay... I think .

Everything is all good. My response was just a general response. I have found a lot of small things in this game.....like I said though.....nobody ever listens

You know, as soon as I finished reading X-Rads post I said to myself, I hope Camel doesn't misunderstand what he wrote, because he agrees with him but talked about the situation from a third persons view point.. I'm glad to hear everybody understands now .

FOV, is to me, a setting that will help to place the car in a good line for corner apex, or to help you see what is near to your sides to help prevent contact. Your choice. However, this game has additional features to tell a driver if someone is close by. The proximity arrows and a spotters voice are very go features for helping to avoid contact. SO, that leave the FOV setting to help with driving the best line possible for getting to the apex you think is best. Apex choice is another subject in itself. If I'm looking out the window, I don't want to to see the cars A pillar in the corner. To get it out of the way, I can move the seat position forward and up or down on the fly with the buttons I mapped already. But the FOV has to be set FIRST for a realistic view. Now that I can see a real view that looks like it would if I was seating in my own car, I can now concentration on my brake points and turn-in for that apex I want. Food for thought.

Correct FOV makes u a better driver by letting you judge distance correctly .
Yes, yes we all agree. However, I can not look at your replay and judge wether or not your FOV is set properly.. That was my point..

Edit: If anyone is online or is about to be, send me an invite or a message. I will be online in a few minutes in case anyone wanted to practice.

Who asking you to? I am sharing details about the game to HELP everyone. Use it or not. Stay in the rear if not. Rely to my every word, or not. Let me be clear, my post was not directed at any one person!

I personally do not get ran into very often and when it does happen it's clearly a racing incident and not malicious. I don't think anyone has their FOV so bad that they are running people off track.

Here is the highlight video from last nights Monza Classic race. Sorry there isnt much content in it. I believe the big wreck at the beginning spread everyone out so much that there just wasn't much racing for position. I'll have the Watkins Glen race done by no later than tomorrow. I'm sure that video will be much better

Here are the Highlights from the Watkins Glen race

Ok now, the high lights are telling a different story to me. It seems the best way to make it on to this is to mess up or pick the wrong car. Notice the last two H-L reals never mention some drivers if their race was clean. However, I am LMAO watching the carnage from guys that are A or S rated. 'Keep at it', is all I can say.

Cya, in the rain, in California (where no one races cars in 'pee soup').

Well first we have to understand that these videos are only capturing anywhere from the first 25-38 minutes of racing. I try to capture any change of position that happens on the track (except when their are position changes in the pits). I'm sure I miss some things as it would take me on average 15 hours to watch 15 guys race for an hour each. My usual strategy is to try and get everything that happens in the first 2-3 laps. After that everyone is usually single file. Once they are single file I set the race to fast forward on ×4 and watch the grid order in the top left of the screen. If I see two names change around I rewind and capture the footage. It's tough to capture everything because I dont see everything. I do believe the video showed how everyone in the top 5 came to be in the top 5. I've asked everyone to mention to me what lap some great racing happens in order to help me be able to put it on the video. Like I said though....it usually needs to be in the first 25-38 minute of the race

If you (anyone) have an exciting exchange or a few nice laps that show some quality race craft that you want highlighted, it would probably help Camel if you could tell him about when it occurred in the race or what laps you were on.

It would be pretty tedious for him to have to watch the race over and over again from every driver’s perspective to make sure he got everything.

What's the matter? Can't take a little criticism. You know we are all ready to bust out anytime you mess up, so no pressure and GL. I'll pit as some as the rain falls. You keep running those 1:13.

I never took it as criticism. Unless you are calling my dice a bunch of little punks....in that case I'll get new dice. I'm just trying to help you through these trying times. I will have a full breakdown of all the puddles in the pre race drivers meeting

I'm fine with rain, if... I have a heavy car to drive. Preferably a vintage car, no fancy pansy traction control, anti lock, please help me brakes.
