Can't beat time trials in arcade mode

You mean you can't do any of them? Have you searched through the GT3 board for help on the time trials? Did you miss-spell your name? Not much of a GT3 Champ, are you?

Ouch :ouch: It's just a case of practice, don't hit the walls, brake early and accelerate out of the corners. If your new to the series it might be better for you to concentrate on normal races and the license tests in GT mode until you start to improve because some of the time trials are genuinely challenging.

I have beaten the game up to 98.2%. The races in arcade are finished, all of simulation mode is complete, and the other 1.8% of the game comes from the other nine time trials I yet have to beat. Oh, and I am a GT3 Champ when racing, not talking to other Gran Turismo fans. And what kind of fool would misspell his user ID name whan making an account?

Tell me your real name is not David Anderson? Thats 1 letter different from mine .

But thoes bids are very helpful, also if when you get GT4, theres a lot of videos around linked on this site to help with the driving missions and licenses for that too.

There are more, but I'm getting bored. Are you getting the point yet?

The parts you have done are all the parts where you can use an overpowered and overqualified car to destroy the AI. Now that you're down to the parts where you have no choice about the car and setup, you are struggling (TTs and the S license).

This suggests to me you are not a "GT3 Champ when racing".

Now is this a way to treat a brand new member here? Come on, just answer his question, there's no reason to be rude.

There is reason when you've seen his posting attitude elsewhere on the boards.

Under normal circumstances, however, you are perfectly correct; there is no reason to be rude.

I stand partially-corrected after seeing some of the dredged topics and comments to members who no longer post here! (Didn't see them an hour ago)

Just so you know, I always go by this logic:

1. New Member arrives at GT Planet and asks question

2. We can either answer the question or politely refer him or her to the search.

3. The more polite we are, the chances are better they will come back for more discussions.

4. Some New Members ultimately wind up like us...Premium Members who are paying money. :)

Being rude is fun but it's also a turn-off to new members, who will go somewhere else (GT3 Champ seems to be an exception). The only time I find it acceptable to be rude is if someone is rude or ignorant towards me or some other member here at GT Planet.

Although he's dredged up a lot of dead topics, I gotta admit this is the liveliest I've seen the GT3 forum since I started posting here a year ago, agreed?

Thank you! Now, I have gotten some silvers and bronzes on time trials. But I will keep practicing to make sure that every one of the 10 time trials are complete.

Look, I'm sorry if I acted like a selfish jerk lately. Can you ever forgive me?

Certainly, everyone new to a board is going to be unaware of its particular 'ways', thats one of the reasons why the mods are here.

Simply take on board what we (and other members) have to say in regard to posting style, etc; and most of all think before you hit the submit button on a post. I always (to this day) re-read my post and make sure I'm happy with it before submiting it. I then also re-read it once its posted up to check for spelling, grammer, etc and edit it if needed.

Its worth the few extra seconds it takes to do that to make sure what you are saying is really what you want to say.

Follow the above and it should help out, and please stop double posting, use the edit button instead.

Thanks

Scaff

Yes we can, we all can if you just take heed of what people have been telling you. You'll pick up the GTP etiquette in time, but during your first week or so here your honestly better off not posting as much until you start to get used to the place. Perhaps check out the Rumble strip here...

It's the section of the site for more general types of threads and it's a great place to get to know the members better and the threads are anything from "whats the weather like" to "It's so and so's birthday".

Time Trials, or Time Attack in the PAL version, are part of the Arcade version. It's nearly like the License tests, except that it's only required for completion, not for advancement.

@ GT Champ: Yes, of course we can and do forgive you. As other have said very well, it all lies in your attitude. If you continue to listen to the advice we give, and if you start to give good advice of your own, we'll welcome you as a constructive member that is adding life to a very slow board.

Good luck!

I have a question that may seem silly, but of what time trials do you speak? License tests, or something else?
The time attacks in the arade mode.

Yeah in GT3 theres an option in the arcade mode, it's like the full lap license tests, you have a pre-selected car and you have to beat a x'xxx.xxx time for a bronze, silver or gold.

Yes. There is a given car/track combination, and a "gold" time that you must beat to clear the TT. There are 10 of them, culminating in a run at Complex String in the Ruf RGT.

I beat them all, and if I can do it, anybody can do it. I posted a lap walkthrough of the RGT #10, describing exactly how I beat it. It may be on the Reports board; I forget.

I've never noticed anything like that. Is that why there is a Free-Run option as well as Time Trial? Because that would explain it as I've never selected Time Trial. I assumed it was like it was in GT4.

They took me a while to find as well (before I saw the light of GT Planet), too busy in GT mode.

Once found they provided a good dose of fun, give them a go. Personally I found the last one (with the Ruf at Complex String) great fun, but I did love the Complex String (wish is was in GT4).

Thanks for the advice again, Scaff. It'll be helpful. And the reason why there is a Free Run in arcade mode is to practice laps on a track to master it as well as you can.

Plus if I'm not mistaken, Free Run is the only place in Arcade that lets you tune your car. I've barely done any arcade races, (sim mode has me hooked) and I haven't done ANY of the Time Trials. I'm so far behind :(

Do I spend too much time in midfield trying to crack the leader board record on midfield of 49 seconds? Because I got the midfield time attack first place first time

Right on. That's the spirit.
