I'm confused. Have we switch to Racing Softs or are we sticking with Sports Softs and I also wonder if these posted times are with or without Spin Recovery which you need to turn off when you first setup the Arcade Race. Default turns SR on automatically.

Still sports softs, the discussion was related to (I believe) the last cappucino series.

Oh and SRF was definitely off for me. I check to make sure all aids are off every time. Plus in practice mode, I believe it remembers your preferences automatically after the 3rd or 4th time....if PSN isn't back up tomorrow I'll post up a vid.....somehow....

We haven't switched to racing tires, those guys are discussing the previous series/settings which did run on racing tires. But we, as a group, have opted for Sports Soft tires for this version of the series. I'm interested to see if that's still the consensus after we get some testing with the online physics.

As for the times, they're not serious and don't mean anything. Just something to keep us from feeling like we're spinning our wheels until the PSN is restored. My time came from "practice" and not "arcade", but I have done some races in "arcade" just to get a feeling of having other cars on the track. Trying to fight your way to the front and hold position in "arcade" using the middle difficulty is quite fun though!

And for everybody's information, SRF and all other aids (except ABS) will be disabled during these races and practice sessions.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to win at tsukuba on the excellent (?) level in arcade, but jeez was it fun. Getting passed on the back straight EVERY time got frustrating though :P

Yeah, I couldn't do it on the hardest difficulty, they'd always catch me on that backstretch. But as long as the lap count wasn't more than about 5 I could fend them off on the medium difficulty and hold them at bay (with creative blocking!). It's actually quite fun, you blow by them through the turns and pick up 2-3 spots and then they start clawing back in the straights. Quite a battle!!

Yeah, I didn't try blocking at all I just re-passed on the last corner...Then again I only managed 3rd and never even saw 1st place :P Hardest difficulty is a bit tough for the little coffee car.

I'm at 1:05.3, that's using an H-Shifter/Clutch? Anyone else going that route for this series?

I was considering it, but because we have ALL the clutch mods you really are just slowing yourself down :/

I'm using my antique Logitech Driving Force (from my ps2) with paddle shift, no clutch

When I'm just wanting to have some fun, I use the clutch/shifter and cockpit view. In the Capp, it's a total blast! Probably the most fun I've had using that setup. But when I want to do fast times I switch to bumper-cam and paddle-shifters and I can pick up 1-2 seconds per lap. It's like that with all cars on this game though, if I just want fun I use cockpit view/clutch+shifter but if I want to be fast and good I always go bumper cam/paddle-shifters.

FWIW, G27 here.

I always use cockpit and to be honest, the cockpit view in the Capp is a PAIN. Can't see hardly anything. :(

I have my cockpit view set to "zoom" (the middle setting) and it gets rid of some of the clutter on the screen. On some cars it pushes the rearview mirror out of my view so I can't use it, but on the Capp it's just right. Give it a try. 👍

Never tried that :P Does it move vertically at all or just closer to the steering wheel? Because in the mode I'm in the steering wheel covers like half my screen :P

It's essentially like scooting your seat forward in a real car. It zooms in towards the middle so you see a little less of all the cockpit and more of the road/track. It varies from car to car, but it does reduce the amount of real estate that the on-screen steering wheel occupies and makes it easier to see over/around it.

Like I said though, in some cars it pushes the rearview mirror out of your field of view so you can't see what's going on behind you unless you push the "look-back" button. It depends on the car though, in the Capp I can see pretty much all of the rearview mirror, so I like it. I'd prefer a good "hood view" where it's from the drivers eye-level and you just see the hood in front of you, but that view in GT5 is inconsistent (generally way too high) and has no mirrors at all. So it's pretty much useless even though it's probably my favorite. I never use it and mainly use bumper-view, kinda feel like I'm forced to. Oh well.

I just use the hood view pretty much all the time, used to do the bumper cam but it's a bit too close to the road for me. I use the look back all the time, even if there's nothing behind me lol, like whenever I hit a straight, most of the time I'll look behind me unless I'm in practice, just force of habit :)

I do like the cockpit views, I'm just slow(er lol) when i use them :(

Also, DS3 4 lyf! :sly:

Same here Riff...I like the Hood view because I know where my car is at on the corners...when I'm racing online though I use the Bumper View so I can see who is behind me...👍

I've been using bumper cam for so long that I've kinda developed a 6th sense as to where the sides of my car are. I can drive within a few inches of a wall and not hit it and breeze right around cars. I even shock myself sometimes, it always freaks my buddy when he's watching me because he thinks I'm going to crash and never do. Some of the cars do have a proper hood view (there's a recent thread around that lists them) where the camera is on the dash instead of the roof. But it still doesn't have any mirrors and that kills it for me.

I also constantly hit the look-back button when I need a real clear view behind me, but it's nice having a mirror constantly in view for instant feedback. I also have my map zoomed in so I can see when a car is beside me or in my blindspot, and that helps a lot with the no mirror issue. But when I'm racing against real people I try my hardest to avoid all contact and want as much information as I can get regarding who's around me and where they are. I do use the hood/roof view in a-spec a bit, but I don't care if I make contact with those bozo's. lol

I should point out, I've added a "News" section to the bottom of the OP. I'm constantly making little tweaks to the OP to make sure things are accurate, but whenever I change something significant (like a new track or new rule) I will add it to the "News" section so you don't have to read through the whole thing to find what's changed. You can just glance there to see what's been updated, then scroll up until you see that section. Hope that helps keep things organized and simple. 👍

The roster looks pretty full. Can I still join up?

Sure can! We're running on 3 different nights, so even though the roster looks full it's actually showing 3 nights worth of drivers. Do any of the listed nights work out for you? Get me your info (car #, PSN ID, car color/wheel color) and I'll add you to the list.

Tuesday: Yes:D - I could host if possible
Friday: Sometimes - Currently involved with the ITCC which has their events beforehand that night and might be scheduled for a early start for work on Saturdays
Saturday: Sometimes - Depends on how late I work and/or what activities I have planned for the afternoon (GTPMSA SuperGT Practice or anime club meeting)

My Fanatec PWC wheel has finally cleared customs in Toronto. With a bit of luck I may even have it by tomorrow night should PSN come up!

Edit: Actually, damn. I just realized I am out for the next 4 Tuesdays as I have to attend this class thing with my wife. Oh well, there is always Friday. :)

#24 snowylilmonster (Squeaks121): TBD / Black

Tuesday: Yes
Friday: Yes
Saturday: No

Side note: I dont use abs. Just a heads up to everyone.

@snowylilmonster: Welcome to the group! I've added you and cdowns to the entry list.

@CamiKaze: Thanks for offering to host, I've added you as an alternate host/steward in the entry list. Tuesday nights are the one race I'm pretty sure I'll regularly be able to host but "life" has a way of interfering so it's good to have a back up.

I still need somebody that can serve as a back-up host on Friday nights. The only requirements are that you set the room up to our restrictions, follow our qualifying/race format and then send me the results of both races. Nothing too complicated. I can probably jump in as a host on Friday nights if I can't find another back-up, I'd just have to schedule an early evening nap. lol

I will try to attend all 3 races for at least the first week so I can be there to answer any questions and make sure everything runs smoothly. If the rumors are true and the PSN is restored to the majority of us today, we won't have our first points race tonight but we will probably have lots of practice races! If everything goes well then we will officially start the season next Tuesday (May 10th) at 8:15pm EDT (GMT-4). Sound good?

Oh awesome :) I was just playin anyway :D So is your tune drastically different than the one in the OP?

I used to try tunes I found online all the time and maybe 1/5 worked for me. Generally I think the problem was they were tuned offline and all my racing is online these days so they just didn't work for me. I got into the habit of doing all my own tuning to suit my driving style and never looked back. I went to have a look at the tune in the OP and my tune is completely different than the posted link. Once we get back online I'll test that tune out and compare it to mine. Don't think I've ever tuned a car with ARB's set to 1 or 2 as it usually makes the car drive like a sponge on wheels but I'll try anything once..lol. Also my tune is based on Racing Softs so I'm sure it'll have to be adjusted for the Sports Softs once we get back online.

I think it was Smurfit that asked about driver aids...I only use ABS=1...no SRF here. But the car is so grippy offline it seems like it has SRF on already...lol.

Had a rain delay today at work...so I spent an hour or so tuning for sports softs and came up with a pretty decent tune. I don't think this tune will work nearly as well online, but offline it works pretty well. Key to this car is don't lose traction because it doesn't have the power to recover and all the time you hear those tires skid and see that front end smoke is causing you many tenths of seconds.

For what it's worth, I got down to 1:02.35 with this tune and was able to run fairly consistently at 1:02.4 to 1:02.6

Aerodynamics set to MAX

Transmission- 230 km/h
1st - 2.633
2nd - 1.817
3rd - 1.38
4th - 1.12
5th - .915
Final - 5.125
Set top speed first and then the gears.

LSD- Initial- 8
Accel- 15
Brake- 10

Suspension:

Ride Height- Front -5 (Minus)
Rear 0 (zero)

Spring Rate- Front 7.0
Rear 9.0

Dampers- Extension: Front 5, Rear 6
Compression: Front 3, Rear 4

ARB Front - 4
Rear - 3

Camber- Front 2.5, Rear 1.5

Toe- Front - 0.15, Rear - 0.10 (both minus)

Brakes- Front 4, Rear 5

I like my brakes a bit softer than normal. I like to trail brake into corners when I can and softer brakes help with that. I think the brake settings can be improved.

Good luck and if anyone gives it a shot I'd appreciate some feedback.

You were REALLY trying to get the tail end out with that tune weren't you :) Logic says it makes alot more sense than the tune on the first page, but quick question - why the high ride height?

Thanks for sharing, Johnny. I like the looks of your tune, it's actually pretty close to what I've come up with myself. When I get on tonight I think I'm gonna split the differences between our tunes and see what happens.
