Just an update on the PSN for those who don't already know, it should be back up within a week. I'm hearing rumours of Tuesday, exciting stuff lol! Also we get free stuff! :D hehe

It's all in here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=201538

Whew! Man, it's great to finally have an idea of when it will be back. Being in the dark for so long was really starting to take its toll, I was going nuts not knowing when we'd be able to race! Not that I know for sure now, but it sounds like it shouldn't be much more than a few days. I'd imagine Japan, North America and Europe will be tops on their list to restore.

I will review everything in the thread and make sure I have everything finalized and ready to go once we're back up. The times I've suggested seem to be working well so I think we'll try those. For the first 2 or 3 days the PSN is back online I'll try to hold several practice sessions/races so we can test the couple things that need finalized, get a feel for racing with each other, and then we'll start this thing up! I'll have a Smurfit and Mule host a couple later practice sessions too so everybody can get their Capps on track and give me some final feedback. 👍

I'm going to start an entry list for each night. Everybody let me know which nights they'll be participating in so we can get an idea of how many people we'll have on each night. And remember, each night has its own points championship so you can run in as many nights as you like.

Schedule: (all times in Eastern Daylight Time, GMT-4)

Tuesday: Room open for practice 30-60 minutes before Qualifying Race.
8:00pm: 4-5 lap qualifying/heat race
Feature race starts immediately after qualifying race.

Friday: Room open for practice 30-60 minutes before Qualifying Race.
10:00pm: 4-5 lap qualifying/heat race
Feature race starts immediately after qualifying race.
(Friday night host can adjust times to their schedule if needed)

Saturday: Room open for practice 30-60 minutes before Qualifying Race.
4:00pm: 4-5 lap qualifying/heat race
Feature race starts immediately after qualifying race.

I encourage everybody to run as many nights as you want/can. Even if you can only commit to 1 regularly, if you happen to be free on any of the other nights it would be great to have more cars on the track for those drivers that are competing for points on that night. And make sure all your friends have a fully tuned RM Capp in their garage in case they ever want to race with us some night. :)

Use the following format to let me know when you will be participating.

Name
Tuesday: yes/no/sometimes
Friday: yes/no/sometimes
Saturday: yes/no/sometimes

Once I get that info I will organize it and add it to the OP so we can see who we'll be racing against and how many people will be at each race. Already looks like Tuesday will be the big night, so far. I will try to organize practice sessions during the week where me and/or the alternate hosts/stewards will have open lounges to test and tune on non-race nights.

I still need 1 or 2 more volunteers to serve as alternate host/stewards so if you want to do that include it with your chosen times. Thanks in advance, and make sure you're Capps are ready for some racing!

Yeah, none of these will work for me, so I guess I'm out! Good luck with the series though! Sounds like great fun!

Name
Tuesday:no / I don't get home until 6:00 my time, which is 7:00 EST and I have an hour workout I'm dedicated to each day, plus I'm greasy from work and need a shower, I'm a mechanic.
Friday:no / Practice starts the same time our race starts in the ALMS Series I'm in
Saturday: no / Still at work until 4 my time.

Again, sorry, I was looking forward to it, but my schedual just doesn't mix with everybody elses! Have fun guys!

Name: MindlessRiff
Tuesday: Yes, but probably not all of them
Friday: No
Saturday: Yes

I would volunteer as an alternative host, but I just don't think my Internet connection is quite good enough really..

@t_ray, the Friday night time may change depending on who's hosting it. I just put that in there as a starting point. Wait until Mule chimes in since he will be hosting that night and decide when it will run. 👍

Alright! I'll keep an eye on the thread then!

Tuesday: Room open for practice between 7:00pm and 7:30pm.
8:00pm: 4-5 lap qualifying/heat race
Feature race starts immediately after qualifying race.

Question - What is happening between 7.30 and 8pm then?

Tuesday: sometimes
Friday: sometimes
Saturday: no

I think he meant the room would be opening between 7 and 7:30, remaining open until race at 8

I may just be able to make it on Tuesday for quali if it starts at 8, if I get home, work out without breaks, and take a supersonic shower! lol. We'll have to see I guess. I'll try for that still though, because I'd really like to give this series a try!

Yes that's correct. I'll re-word the OP so it's more clear.

I figure since a lot of people are practicing on Tsukuba we might as well have a little "official unofficial preseason time trial" leaderboard until we get the PSN back. Just something to keep motivated and keep the thread going. No points or anything, and keep in mind the times will be different with online physics. I'm going to submit a screenshot for my "official unofficial time".

If I made the start time 8:15 or 8:30 on Tuesday would that make it easier for you to join? I think that time would still be ok for most of the working people, as long as the racing is done by 9:00pm EDT or not too long after. I think the full race program should only take 35-45 minutes so we'd be done by 9:15pm.

Tuesday: no.
Friday: yes. I can host, and I can find a time that suits everyone, hopefully. 10 PM is just as good as 6 PM for me.
Saturday: sometimes. The Integra series I run (which I encourage you all to join) runs at the same time as this, but has only 3 races left in its season. Depending on when you start, I may be able to make some races.

Tuesday: Maybe, I usually get on around 8:15 or 8:30
Friday: Definitely YES
Saturday: After the integra series is over yes :)

That would be a gianormous help! lol :)

Tuesday:YES - I do have to shut it down by 9PM, family time after that. I don't have a problem shutting it down in the middle of the race though.
Friday: SOMETIMES - Depends on Saturday work schedule.
Saturday: NO

Don't forgot, you can't please every individual (i.e. me) :) The original 8PM start time that's posted in the OP is what works for me.

Mudd: Tuesday yes (any start time between 8 and 9 is fine for me)
Friday yes
Saturday I may drop in occasionally

I am really missing something somewhere on this track. I've got my Capp dialed in very nice, but I'm stuck in the 1:05's. I really need to get online and do a couple laps with someone else so I can find it.

We'll shoot for 8:15 to start on Tuesdays then. That should help a few more people make it but still ensure we're done by 9:00pm.

We should also start polling the West Coast drivers to see what the best start time is for them. Mule will be hosting that race so I will leave him in charge of deciding the time for that night. As long as it starts by 10pm or 11pm EDT then some of the Midwest/East Coast drivers have a better chance of making it, but if it needs to be later, then that's fine too.

Try taking a later apex into the hairpins, especially the one right before the back-straight. If you can turn-in later you can take a straighter line out which means greater exit speed and more speed at the end of the straight. On a straight that long a few extra MPH can take up to a full second off your time. It took me quite a while to learn how to late-apex this track properly.

Are you on race tyres?! Lol just kidding, I'm just jealous ;)

Really though I ought to do some proper practice and learn to love Tsukuba haha

Haha the great news is that all the practice runs are actually breaking in the car :) I know I can go faster, but I'm not gonna touch the tune until psn comes back online otherwise I'll just have to do it all over again.

I've got 2 more Hp to break in, could make all the difference ;) hehe

Really bugs me that the offline physics are different.. Why couldn't they make them the same.. Was tuning my Ford GT yesterday and when I finished realised it'd be different online :( hopefully not too much though or back to square 1 lol

I am still stuck in the '06's!

By the way I'm running the tune that the other Stig recommended in the first post.

The apex into the second to last turn definately plays a big part, I took a full second off my lap by adjusting to a later entry there. That still only puts me in the mid 1:04's, but I'm still working. There is a difference in online physics, but with all my other cars I've tuned, I found only minor toe or anti-roll adjustments were all that was needed when going from practice mode to online race. I wouldn't be afraid to make your tune comfortable while we are stuck in practice mode, it should end up pretty close when we go online.
Add: oh yea, my Capp had 0.0 miles when I started setting it up for this, still breaking in as well
