Wasn't aware we're dropping any races, thought I was neck-in-neck with yuri.
Personally, I don't think dropping 2 races makes sense with 3 races per week. Anyway - I'd PM Brosif to make sure he's aware of this, since with a 27 for the week he can still win this.

Naaaah you were 6 up on me without dropping a race and 8 up if we only dropped one race but 6 or 8 is a pretty big gap to make up when you can run up to 3 races per week. I figured you were all alone in your spot and my battle was for fifth...needing a miracle to catch you...lol.

Everyone gets to drop your 2 worst "weeks", so each week you have 3 chances to score points but at the end of the week you only get credit for 1 race (your best finish). At the end of the season your best 4 out of 6 weeks/finishes count. The reason for doing this was to make the Championship more accessible to everyone, Lancer is a good example because he missed a 3 week stretch in the middle of the season but he's still in the hunt so he has motivation to continue. Lots of people avoid joining leagues because they're afraid they will have to miss a race or two and be screwed in the points, with this system that's virtually impossible. 👍

This has all been posted in the Cappuccino Cup Points & Prizes link in the OP from the beginning of the season. Sorry if I caused confusion by not being clear enough.

Oh, I've been told that Brosif is on vacation so he probably won't be able to attend any more races this season.

EDIT: To be clear, the bonus point for fastest of the week is intended to eliminate any ties, but if there is a tie at the end of the season (for podium positions only) I will use overall elapsed time between the tied drivers to determine who gets the higher position.

My lounge is open so bring your mugs out for a refill! Qualifying will start at 8:15pm EDT.

I'll apologize in advance if I don't get out of somebody's way fast enough tonight, I have most of the movement back in my right shoulder but can't make super fast movements. At least that's my story anyway. :)

Unbelievable.

In the zone, concentrating completely on the race at hand, I don't notice my soon to be ex-girlfriend sauntering across the living room and in front of the tv. I was too p*ssed to say anything because I'd already spun and she walks back in front and says, "Oh were you racing?"...lol.

"No darling I like watching tv sitting here in my racing seat in front of a steering wheel""

Aren't they adorable?...lol.

Oh well...there's always Friday and Saturday...lol.

^sucks. I missed you. Other than some rubbing in the first 1-2 laps, spent most of the race in sad loneliness. Couldn't close the gap to Wii when you went wide and Wii pulled away.

@Johnny, at least you weren't "raged" at someone on track! Lol Sorry to hear about that though, dsg could have used your company. ;)

Congrats to WiiFreak on drawing first blood in the championship week! As you'll notice, even though Mudd couldn't make the race he did want to make an appearance on the results board. Too bad he still won't get any points. Lol

lmfao my stream's still up!

My stupid timer didn't work lololol calling the house now to have someone turn my computer off

btw, it's on come Friday!

Ugh, I'm sorry guys but I realized this morning that the Google spreadsheet for the points stopped adding results after round 4 so all the points we were looking at yesterday were wrong. Not sure what happened, it had been working perfectly for the first half of the season and I got relaxed and stopped double checking it. I've gone through and added up all the points manually and updated the 3rd post with the correct standings. Last night I had tallied everybody's points minus their worst 2 results but it was based on bad info so I'll get that re-done and try to get it posted today.

Again, my sincere apologies. I'm rather naive with the spreadsheet thing, Brosif set it up for me and I've been maintaining it but didn't notice the error had occurred. If anybody sees anything amiss let me know and I will get it corrected, but I think everything should be accurate now.

Ok, I've added an update to the 3rd post with everyone's worst 2 races tossed out through Round 5 (does not include last night's results). Hope this helps everyone figure out exactly where they are going into the final week, sure looks like it's a close one at the top! Damn Brosif is still right at the top even though he hasn't race for 3 weeks.

It actually doesn't hurt too bad, as long as I don't bump it against anything. The shoulder connected to that arm is what gives me problems while racing, it's rather inflamed from the impact and I can't make super fast moves with it. Whenever the Capp starts to step out on me I can normally add a little opposite lock to dial it back on track but right now I can't move my arm that quick so I just have to take my hands off the wheel and let it go where it may. Happened several times last night because the Capp is constantly wanting to step out on me at this track. It feels much better today though so I'm hoping by Friday I'll have full control back.

Had a fun race last night. Come away sweating. Had two people stop with 15 to go. So they got to watch me chip at the time Lancer had on me. Was able to get close enough to say HI.

FWIW I know mistakes happen and I am very relaxed with in the Cappy races. However. It would be appreciated to wait when you cause others to lose tine or position. Just keep the respect level up fellas. It's a blast and don't wanna see things getting too dirty if you will.

Also a few weeks back a few of us was playing on my 3/8 left hand Oval. We had got the Lutecia Cup cars. Or Clio Cup cars out. I forget who it was that had several. There is a league starting for these and was wanting to some trading for more Clio's. Thanks in advance.

+1
It would also be appreciated if drivers didn't try to make passes if they aren't at least side-by-side at the braking point. If you are on somebody's bumper at the braking point then you shouldn't try to make a divebomb pass at the last second. When the leading driver turns into a corner, he has already committed to a "line" with the expectation that the inside is clear. When you swoop to the inside right as he starts turning then he has no where to go but off the track. I consider that dirty driving and I've just about lost my patience with it. Please read section 8 of the GTP Online Racing Rules posted below.

08: Corner Rights:

A:
When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.

B:
You must establish substantial overlap with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s turn-in point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you. At least the front of your car should be up to the driver’s position in the ahead car. The ahead driver has the right to be fully committed to the racing line of their choice without any interference if there was no substantial overlap before he turned in.

C:
If sufficient overlap is established before the turn-in point, then the behind driver has the right to sufficient side room. The ahead driver must also leave sufficient side room for the behind driver. This means that each driver has a right to their respective "line", or side of the track, right up to the exit point. Neither driver should squeeze the other toward the inside or outside of the corner during the apex or exit.

D:
If an ahead driver has clearly made an error to warrant a passing move, a behind driver may attack their position, with due caution and care, regardless of whether there was any pre-existing overlap. However, the overtaking driver must still avoid contact. Small errors by the ahead driver may not justify a passing move. The ahead driver getting a bit out of shape at times doesn’t give you an automatic right to pass. You still have to judge if their error allows for a safe pass to take place.

E:
Drivers who are using PS2/PS3 controller MUST make additional effort in driving due to the fact they can't use side-view, and their perception of the other cars is thereby limited - extreme caution while maneuvering is required. If you are using a controller, you are required to set buttons up for side views as "I didn't see you." is not an excuse if you collide with another driver when racing.

Not speaking of this Series specifically, but generally speaking about all GT5 online racing, if everyone observed this one rule, things would be a lot smoother. The overlap must be before turn in, not at the apex or halfway to the apex.

Agreed. This is the one of the hardest things to adapt to when racing against live people, but it's also one of the most critical. If you are directly behind a driver at the braking point then you should not attempt a pass. However, if you've managed to get up beside the lead driver before you both hit the braking point then you can attempt the pass. You should have at least half of your car beside the lead driver though, having 1 inch of your bumper beside them doesn't really cut it.

Basically, if you're beside the lead driver he knows you're there and that he needs to allow extra room on the inside. If you're on his bumper when he starts to brake he presumes the inside will be clear and can use his normal braking point and turn-in point. At that point he's committed to a certain driving line and if a car suddenly appears on the inside, he is screwed because he did not setup for an alternate line.

And like JP said, it's kinda wide-spread throughout GT5 online and not specifically in this series. But there are a couple of drivers in this series that do it repeatedly, and they happen to be drivers that should know better. ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to launch into a rant but Owens opened a can of worms. lol

Results question: wasn't Wii on pole yesterday?

Yes, I just discovered that. He must of snagged it right after I recorded the results. I thought Yuri was on the pole. I'll get it updated.

EDIT: Fixed

Hey guys, thought I'd pass this along because I think it would be of interest to most of the drivers here. R1600Turbo is starting up a new series running the Clio/Lutecia Trophy race cars and it looks to be quite a bit of fun. These cars are like a more powerful/more stable version of the Capp RM so I thought it might be of some interest to the Cappy lovers.

The series starts on the weekend after this season of the Capp Cup ends so this would be a good way to get some racing during our short off-season (we will probably have 3 weeks off while I re-tool some things). He is running a structure that is basically what I'm wanting to run for the 3rd season of Capp Cup: 2 races per night, qualify for first race, second race is reverse grid from first race results, all on Race Hard tires. I think it's a good format that should produce more fun racing for the whole field. This will be a good way for us to get a feel for that format.

Anyway, if you don't already know, R1600Turbo is a GT Academy finalist and runs the Flying Miata series so he's a very knowledgeable and skilled GT5er. Owens and I will be racing on a team and I encourage anyone else who might be interested to give it a look. 👍 https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=220162

That is one of the nicest things I've ever seen posted around here.

You're awesome 👍

Thanks man! I did clear this with Turbo first, he wasn't getting a ton of interest and I thought this would be a perfect fit for some Capp Heads. Plus, those little Clio cars are a freakin' blast to drive so I really wanted it to get off the ground (selfish!). His races will be on Sundays (starting September 4) so the schedule won't interfere with any Capp Cup races, just seemed like a natural crossover. 👍

@Owens
Hey man your PM box is full. But I was gonna ask if you wouldn't mind sending me a Clip Cup car so I can try it out.

Thanks

^There's two in the OCD.

Yep, I think they're fairly cheap too. I see these cars pop up in my UCD all the time too. Turbo has a stash of them and has offered to send some out if people need them, so check with him also.

RT's cars smell like vinegar. No thanks. :)

TO THE OCD I GO

Sorry Mule, you series is at a later time so it's ok!

lol.

I should probably fix that. Could be the reason why the Clio's are quickly catching up to my thread in post count despite mine existing first D:
