Of course you can do another sketch.... do one in 1 minute. It'll force you to avoid nitpicking the details.

Also, I wanted to ask, mster, are those white smudgy spots on the front lower-half fender are done with an eraser?

Yes, they are done with an eraser.

I see. I was never a fan of using the eraser to mark highlights. It's a simple concept, but personally, I felt they never worked good on anything but life drawing or drawing soft organic forms. Instead of shading parts in only to erase it later, why didn't you just leave those spots blank?

I will do another, i will finish this one first... though, you said to visualize the form... i know the form of it, it is in my head... i just don't know how to really put it on the draw... lol

That's the problem people run into if you sit down and try to get the drawing right in one go. It's all think and no draw. Have you tried blind contour drawing before? The exercise helps you learn to draw by thinking and not by seeing... and when I say not seeing, I literally mean it. If you have trouble putting an idea down on paper, you can try, scribbling it down with your eyes closed might help. You likely won't get it the first time, but that why you do it a few more times, stop, look at it and see if it's coming out the way you want it. If you're starting to see it beneath all the messy lines, take another page, place it on top and start using those lines as a reference.

A fabrication shop technician at my school who resigned at the end of the term, left us with his explanation that trying different mediums may help you visualize the concept a lot easier. A pencil stroke gives off a different appeal, , thickness and noise then a paint brush, marker, charcoal or pastel. Maybe the way you handle pencils are too stiff-looking for what you may like, try conte or chalk. Don't try to illustrate your drawing with it, use it to lay down your idea, it doesn't need to show nitty-gritty details, like closely-densed chrome grilles or rivets, those can come later.

Here's some other people demonstrating the same methodology:

Did you took an art school or something? No, i never tried blind drawing, i never really tried a lot of things.

To draw, i normally use my pen, blue pen... like... hmm
Like this... i am even a bit shy to show this, because many of them have perspective problems, some are really poo, but this was when i was thinking about the main design of it...

and this is how it looks like while i am typeing this...

Edit: I also didn't understand very well what you said about the burn on the side...

Edit 2: I don't have a tablet, i am using the touchpad of my laptop. :(

Edit 3: Updated the progress.

I'm a Design student in an Art & Design school, but a lot of things, especially car drawings comes from me drawing a lot back in high school and those tutorials I posted. School didn't really teach me much on drawing. However, I did say what I said about visualization struggles because I went through it, and apparently other students did too when I did have drawing classes a few years ago.

Isn't photoshop cheating? :P

hAAhaHAaHAhAHAhaAhaHAAHAhaHAhaHAh that one was REALLY good. Almost as good as the drawing, but just almost.

I like it AOS, very cute. I like the wheels and how their centers pop out a little. I would have done the lugnuts bigger, though, and the steering wheel thicker but other than that, awesome. Would it all be matte? if not, it needs flash, bub.

Also, I like your signature.

Thanks for the compliment on the signature... and I was just trying to be funny, I know it's not technically cheating since he drew it on paper with ink first.
Nope... try it and see if it is easy... it is harder than in paper.
Would you guys want to see me go digital? 💡

No one ever said it had to be traditional work.

I wanted to go digital this time as I haven't done so in a really long time.

Again, Show me your Fiesta drawings, you pooper scoopers.

Holy smokes folks just a joke

EDIT: Also I really need to get to a print shop and get some scanned files of my work, haven't in over a year.

Tell me about it. Some people in this thread don't take too kindly to jokes, in fact they see them as personal insults

But anyway that's some of the best work i've seen in this thread, I'd love to see more 👍

I'll whip it up in the week,I haven't thrown a single pencil stroke at it, because I was on forced vacation.

also, nice F40 copy. You do need to scan it because the proportions look odd in the photo.

Yeah it's a goofy one to begin with. As you see it looks as if the whole car is facing away from the viewer, but you can't see the rear due to the "wide angle" focal length of the source photo. Just look at the rear wing haha.

The light also makes the dark values reflect, so yeah maybe stop by the print shop sometime this week. Then look out, I got a collection of stuff from my last two art classes I'll make sure to share:dopey:

I'm done with the Fiesta sketch, I'll try to more or less detail it tomorrow. It's only a pencil work again, and far more simpler than the Trans Am, but it's cute.
