I believe MSTER, I mean it's not very hard to copy a picture, I was just wondering because of his previous work and this is a massive improvement. :)
I hope you keep posting your drawings because the time and work that you've put into shading really makes your pictures stand out MSTER. 👍
And you don't need to prove to anyone because it's perfectly believable - as At 1ness said, you'll only be cheating yourself if you are lying.

What makes a Good ‘car toon’ drawing? I’m trying on gimp and it doesn’t look very cartoony, bar the exaggerated wheels. Anny tips and or pointers

What did he do, I myself think it's a pretty good drawing.
I think he was referring to the not tracing...
Yes, i was referring to the not tracing fact. Plus, i am not a boy.

Great RX7 MSTER, if you didn't trace it, i think it just adds to the improvements we can all see you're making... if you did trace it, no biggie i guess, as you'd only be cheating on yourself really.
This.

I'm not lying, no tracing involved.
Yes... right.

So he's nailed the perspective, how does that automatically mean he's traced it??
That's poor form, give him some credit at least.

Nice Mazda MSTER, its great to see your improving 👍

Look, it is really hard someone, all of sudden, start to get many proportions right, perspectives not easy to do, all of sudden! Took him how long? 1 week? GOD THIS GUY IS A GENIUS!

Plus, he already lied before, about saying he was not copying, and he was. What he does, doesn't matter, what i am trying to tell here is... why lie about it? He don't have to lie about it, it is nothing to be ashamed off. Tracing helps you to figure out somethings, at least, helped me.

If anyone here doubt about me, take a look at his drawings... and see, how in one to other drawing, his perspective got like, totally much better. Also notice how he draws using just one line, even in the wheels... i mean, he can lie to himself, not to me.

True, but how can I prove to you guys that I've actually improved?
You don't have to prove anything.

And you don't need to prove to anyone because it's perfectly believable - as At 1ness said, you'll only be cheating yourself if you are lying.
This again.

Look MSTER232, i have nothing against you, even because that would be totally ridiculous... what i am trying to tell you is that you really don't need to lie. What you are doing i did many many times, and the only one who loses with it is yourself.
Please, take my advice and stop lieing.

Is it really this big a deal?? Really??

You agreed with someone who said if he is lying he's only cheating himself. So why are you making such a fuss??

Guys I'm not lying... I've got proportions right in the past... to those of you who remember my S2000 drawing, everything except the open door was pretty much spot on in terms of proportion. If I had drawn it closed, it would have looked perfect really.

DarkAvengerZR1
Why do you care if i am making a fuss or not?

Your making allegations you cannot prove. He's said he didn't trace it, so let's leave it at that.

Also this.

Let's chill...

It's just a drawing, whether it's traced or not - it's still just a picture. So let's just leave it at that and move on. :) 👍

First time posting here I think. I never cared to draw real cars , because they would turn out rubbish and not even close. Instead I draw my own cars . This was a crappy design through Paint from Windows 2007. Normally my draw book is english text boook or some crappy papers. To draw I use a regular esferografic , blue pen or a pencil.

Hey, that's cool 👍, not that it should matter what gender a person is when it comes to drawing/designing cars... but it's still refreshing to see (thought we were all guys in here).

With regards to whether people think that MSTER is telling the truth or not... (for me personally it doesn't really matter), he has nothing to prove to me or anyone else, is the way i see it, however... for those that have a problem with DarkAvenger raising the question about his honesty and truthfulness.. and then complain about her making a fuss by making a fuss themselves , can't you people see that it's the classic case of: 'the boy who cried wolf' ???
he tried to be dishonest before (though i'll add to his credit, he did own up), but really it shouldn't be unexpected if people chose to doubt his word.

Having said that, i think i agree with aadil, and think we should all just move on, and look forward to seeing some of MSTER's very own car designs that he plans on showing us.

I never knew DarkAvenger was a girl and I thought everyone here was male too. Hopefully my car designs should come out really great :) .

I am STILL working on this, I just can't get it right, especially the wheels :(
I know the front left is extremely dodgy but I just wanted it there to see how the whole car would look. And the rear left wheel looks detached from the car itself. It needs a lot of work but what do people think?

Your lines don't meet up at the same vanishing points. Look at the left wall of the rear wing. The top edge points in an almost horizontal direction. Now draw a line that intersects between the center of the left wheels. Notice something?

Other than that, rear left wheels is protruding out a tad too much and the front wheel is too close to the car. I also don't understand why there's a bulge on the left side of teh body where the Shell logo is located.

For the car that you are trying to draw, it looks really great. F1 cars are much more harder to draw than your typical car.

I'll echo what DarkAvenger & MSTER have said, F1 are quite hard to draw, but the drawing looks great, i'll also add that i think AOS is right, the thing i notice the most though, is there's something not quite right with the rear diffuser in relation to the rear wheels (rear wheels appear to be on the skew).

Cheers for the responses 👍

Yeah I need to sort out my vanishing points, and to be honest I completely forgot about it :dopey: I normally just draw by eye and don't bother with that but I will in future. I knew something wasn't quite right with the rear wing, thanks.

Thanks, yeah the picture I'm during from the rear right wheel wasn't on it so I'm having trouble with it. I think the right wheel needs to be made a tad bigger.

And for my car design, unfortunately it has 370Z written all other it  . I'll get an image of it up here soon but it's just a rough sketch.

A tip: in your black, I mean, in your floor, in your shadows, move the pencil always in the same direction as much as you can. I know you reach a point when you need to fill in the black in various ways to conform to the car (in this case), but in your shadow at the very forefront we can see traces in every direction, and that looks dirty as heck.

Also, on you door shutlines, pick carefully where the light hits them. Door shutlines are just black lines, but the little light lines that accompany them have to be treated carefully. In this case you have light in both sides of the lines, when in reality you should only have, obviously, ONE source of light. That is why I insist you study pictures and UNDERSTAND why reflections happen.
