Car List Criticism - Unwanted Premiums

PD is known to get early access to brand new cars that are not even released to the public from manufacturers. Also, I bet Sony (an multi billion dollar corporation) will likely access to things that an individual like me doesn't. Kaz races cars, so I bet he has special accesses as well. Also, there are many "common" sports cars left out in favour of more idiotic ones.

great point, they modeled the ft-86 begore it was "officially released"

Are you sure you not talking about a Cino which is based on a Suzuki Swift and was Sold in Aus with a 1.0l Carby motor?

The Cappuccino is Rear Wheel Drive. Not front wheel. Cappuccino provides cheap thrills. Prefect weekend car handles great it is turboed and a convertible. I wanna drive something quicker I have a wider range of cars to chose from. Between friends and my brothers. Also have a IS 200 for daily duties (manual of course)

Given the fact that cops are now targeting modified cars in Sydney why would I need anything quicker? They don't even look twice and my car is far from quiet.

Sorry you're right, I was talking about driving the Cino, but I was seeing the Cappuccino in my head. Fair point about the cheap thrills, it's just not my cup of tea though. I don't like the look of it and again, I can't take the name seriously.

Each to their own though

I agree with the OP.

With the lack of GT4 tracks, the few "new" cars and the enormous amount of ported over cars, it makes me wonder what the devs were doing since GT:Pro. Ya, ya I get it "programming" but a few people I know in the "industry" have said that the amount of time between GT:Pro and GT5 is excessive compared to the completed product.

Definitely not everyone's cup of of coffee, don't worry I can't take the name seriously either hell I've nicked named my car Coffee Bean... I totally agree each to their own hence why people need to deal with the fact its in the game :)

What you fail to realize is that I'm not from the U.S.A. I see this all the time, someone comes and think's I'm North-American and bashes me. There are plenty of american domestic games to satisfy the united bubble of america, but I don't care about them. Because, what you fail to realize is, that I do not want only cars from here or there, or only cars with over a million horsepower. I wan't cars that make me, and in overall, the majority of people who buy this game, feel the $60 were worth it. I don't think the whole world revolves around America, but I don't think either that the whole automotive world revolves around Japan, does it? So, by PD making this game focused in Japan they are effectively doing what you apparently hate "me" for doing. I applaude your argument sir.

Well there is no pleasing you is there. You want eclectic cars in the game, you don't want eclectic cars in the game, you can't have it both ways. Is there some important car that is missing for you?
Japan does control the majority of the world car market so that is reflected in a game that aims to have lots of cars. It also makes the worlds best cars so I would expect them to be there. European cars have only started making the grade in recent times and America hasn't made a car that can compete on the world stage for 50 years so what do you expect? Their best car is still the ancient GT40.
And if there is another game that punters feel is more worth the 60 bucks nows the time to share.

Definitely not everyone's cup of of coffee

Haha, I like that. I have no issue with it being in the game, but like everyone, I wish there were more exciting premiums. Possibly the worst thing is that they obtained licences to some of the big manufacturers but left out some crucial models eg. no Aston Martin V8 Vantage or DBS, no Ferrari F50, no Lamborghini Superleggera, no Pagani Zonda...

Fair enough if they couldn't get access to Porsche and some other manufacturers, but they may as well have used the licences they could get as well as they could.

And that's not to mention the standard Veyron... :banghead:

I don´t know if what car deserves to be Premium or what not is the real issue. All cars deserve to be premium, plus, the main problem is that there are too many repetitions. PD needs to change their whole way of making a list for the future GT title, and focus on viriety. With a good 600-700 cars, with no repetitions on basic cars, GT would be the next big thing. And it still would let some repetitions of more important cars without being exagerated like the five same EG Honda Civics, or the ten different versions of the same R34 Skyline, etc.

Please take a look at this list https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=147199. If PD can accomplish something like this, I would fly to Japan and give a new Toyota Corolla to all the PD staff as a symbolism of my gratitude.

I agree and the way I look at it no car should be left out. All cars should be premium. Everything from Kei Class cars to your Super cars should be included...but then again PD only had 5 years. The thing I always liked about GT was the fact it has always featured your more normal cars. But regardless every car has its place and standard cars should not of even been an option. PD should have the team numbers to create a lot more premiums then featured. Hopefully they will come out over time. But we will just have to wait and see.

PD should do with GT6 what they SHOULD have done with GT5, clean sheet the entire car list and develop premium models only. Rather than wasting time porting old cars from GT4, GTPSP etc. they should choose which old models they want to keep and make them all premium.

Given the detail of the GT5 premiums, there should be no issue reusing them for GT6 and introducing a whole lot more.

The fact that PD thought porting old low-res cars would be a good idea shows just how out of touch they are with the industry. It's purely a marketing thing, but I think its about time they put it to rest and moved on. People aren't going to refuse to buy GT6 if it only has 500 cars...

What you fail to realise is the United States only makes up 5% of the worlds population. So how you can claim "the majority of people don't like it" is beyond me. Especially since most speak langauges you don't understand.
We ( outside USA ) see this all the time. Its like Amerca thinks the world revolves around them.
If you don't like the global flavour of GT5 there are plenty of American domestic games to satisfy the United bubble of America.

I'm from the USA and I certainly don't feel the way you've portrayed Americans... I'm sure most from the USA don't feel that way. The United Bubble of America?????

If GT5 HAD a global flavor, it would have been a much better game. Unfortunately it has a single region flavor with a sprinkling of the rest of the world mixed in for good measure. If all you want is to drive Asian cars then I guess this game is perfect. I don't! I want equal representation for ALL of the world INCLUDING the USA, Europe and the rest of the world! EQUAL is the operative term here!

My issue isn't Premium vs Standard. I guess I don't pay much attention to graphics or something, but I rarely notice the "terrible graphics" of the standard cars. And I never use cockpit view while racing.

My disappointment is which cars are included vs which ones are not. How many different versions of the same generation of countless Japanese cars are there? 20+ R34 Skylines or whatever? I'm all for trying to include different versions, don't get me wrong. But when it comes to non-Japanese cars, sometimes, entire generations of cars are ignored! There's far more difference between the Mark 4 Golf R32 and the Mark 5 Golf R32 than there is between an R34 GT-R V-Spec and an R34 GT-R V-Spec II. Yet numerous iterations of the R34 generation GT-R are present, but no Mark 5 R32. Two premium Cappucinos of the same generation, and not even a standard Mark 5 R32? Really? Who wanted that??

Now, my R32 owner bias is clearly showing here, but I'm sure there's other examples of entire generations of American or European cars being left out to make sure that every possible MX-5, GT-R, RX-7, 350/370Z and on and on is included.

I really don't care about premium vs standard. I'd rather they keep the standard cars in the game and continue to add new cars as DLC to keep the game fresh. But when it comes to the UCD, I really wish there was a limitation to how many damn miatas appear. I swear I have 2-3 of them in my UCD at any given moment. I bought a bunch at first but now that I have an NA, NB, and NC why would I ever shop for them ever again?

I've driven the 2010 Mustang and sorry it's a terrible car, solid-axle rear suspension???

Same old tired criticism. Go drive the 2011 with the brembo package and you will be singing a different tune.

I own a 2011 GT and it is a much sharper and stronger car than the 2010 GT in all areas. Better brakes, handling, and much better power delivery put the 5.0 GT in unbelievable company for 32 G's.

Granted, it is not as a pure as a Miata or as a crisp as a Porsche, but it is a fun car, and it kicks more butt in racing than you give it credit for...

Please, remember that this is a Driving simulator, not just a racing simulator. ;) So, many of the cars featured are cars with an interesting background, or a thrilling history! Also, do you not recall that Gran Turismo is a game where you can acquire your own car (real life car), and take it for a spin in the game? 💡 :) 👍

Outside of the Corvette, there isn't a car with more of a history or background in America than the Mustang.

The fact that the Kubbelwagen (which you cannot buy in real life) is a premium in the game and the fact that the 5.0 Mustang GT is NOT in the game (the car that I currently own, and one you can buy on the lot right now) pretty much invalidates that other assertion.

There are a lot of Mustangs in the game already. Enough to satisfy anyone not living in the US.

That's probably my biggest concern with the cars in GT5, that they seem so irrelevant to whats going on in the automotive world.

There are so many great cars that have come out in the last couple of years which should be at the top of any game's wish list, and yet PD didn't even rank them above a Prius? For example:

Bugatti veyron
Koenigsegg CCX/Agera (could be a licence thing)
Aston Martin DBS/V8 Vantage
Noble M600 (ditto)
Shelby Mustang GT500 (or any new mustang for that matter)
Pagana Zonda F
Maserati MC12
Ferrari 599 GTO
Mercedes CLK/SL Black
TVR Speed 12

etc. to name a few

Then obviously we have licencing issues with Porsche etc. but if other companies can do it, why can't PD? And don't tell me they can't afford it.

Either way, the longer they carry on with old car models the more irrelevant the game becomes. 1000 cars means nothing unless people want to actually drive them
Agreed

Obviously there are not since the 2011 5.0 Mustang has been mentioned repeatedly in several wanted lists by people on here (along with the E30 M3, premium versions of the E46 M3, Supra MKIV, 2012 GTR, and Bugatti Veyron).

Further, Kaz missed the latest and greatest Mustang, and that is not acceptable given the fact that the new Camaro and Challenger are both in the game.

I do not believe there is a sane person on here that wouldn't rather have a premium 5.0 Mustang in the game than the stupid Kubbelwagen or VW Bus.

Why do people always feel the need to be GT5 apologists? The game is technically a driving simulator but the main point of the game is RACING not just cruising down PCH on a sunny afternoon. The game has clearly lost focus, and the fact that it doesn't contain some of the most owned (but does contain some really pointless cars) and respected street and race cars in premium versions is puzzling, perplexing, and annoying.
