Not the biggest turnout ever but still some very close racing and a lot of fun!!!:)

Gonna hop into the lounge and run a dozen laps around Motegi, so that I'm not too much of a moving chicane if I do end up making it this Tuesday.

It looks like most everyone that's going to vote for April's car has voted and the Audi and Roadster TC are tied. Rather than choosing just one of them and having half the group be disappointed I propose we run the Audi for the first two weeks and the Roadster TC for the final two weeks. As JP pointed out early on, doing one car for the whole month can start to get a little boring so we'll try doing it this way and see how it works, should be fun. Since I limit the cars to their stock power + 1 oil change it shouldn't be a problem for people to get the cars acquired and ready to race.

Any objections? One note, we raced the Roadster TC at Tsukuba on CS on Saturday and it was an understeering pig. I think the car (on these tires) is only going to be good on certain circuits so I will be sure to test it before choosing a track list. Should be easy since I'll only have to find two of them. 👍

Or ask Marcus to cast a deciding vote :P

Wouldn't change the fact that half of the group would be racing in a car they didn't prefer. This way people will only be disappointed for two weeks instead of four. :sly: I'd like to try doing two cars a month to keep things from getting stale, this is a good excuse to see how it works out.

Throw them both out and race the RX-7, just on different tires. 💡

Comfort Hards?? IMO the RX-7 was sweetness on SM tires, lesser tires were too slippy and better tires were too grippy.

How about this for a comprimise? Commit to one week with one of the two cars. If people are enjoying it, do another week. If not, jump to the next one. Same thing. One week, if people are enjoying it, throw it in for another week. There are plenty of great cars to drive in stock form, so long as you always have a couple kicking around, we'll always have a reserve to throw in there on a week's notice.

Alternately use the same two cars and just alternate weeks for a month. Mazda - Audi - Mazda - Audi. No more work, but helps to keep it fresh. I think we can all agree one car for a month is too long.

Just flip a coin. I think the Mazda would do great with the right track selection. Spa and High Speed Ring are the first two that would be fun off the top of my head. I also wouldn't be offended if we ran the Audi either.

I'm trying to form some kind of stability with the group, something people can check in on once or twice a month and just show up to race. Having a different car every week depending on popular opinion isn't too stable and I know some people would just say "eh, I'm not putting forth the effort" as we've seen happen in the past. Maybe once things here are solidified we can start tinkering with things like that, right now I just want to get my/our feet planted.

And yes, I agree four weeks with one car is a little long. I just wanted to get things off the ground, get people used to showing up to race again, and having just the one (or three) car made that easier to start off. Now we're kind of in the habit of the new format and know what to expect, we can make a few tweaks and adjustments. Start with a good, simple foundation and build layers on top of that. Right now I think doing the first two weeks with one car and the last two weeks with another car is a good, simple idea to add to the foundation. We get plenty of time to get to know the car and enjoy it, but not long enough that we get the 7 Year Itch. It can lend itself to some creativity too, perhaps for May we will do two weeks in a WRX STI followed by two weeks in an Mitsu Evo as a kind of "theme". :sly:

I second that, Sports Hard would be my choice! :D

I like the idea of changing the car every 2 weeks, as it would give everyone plenty of time to break the cars in & practice.

......but not so long that we get bored with them. That's how I'm seeing it anyway.

EDIT: Anyone planning to come out for some racing this evening? Only two more go-round's with the Sciyobaru.

I'm planning on being there to guard the tail end of the field for everyone, I know everyone was lost last week without the tail-end marker. :sly:
Looking forward to the car change, although I have really enjoyed the current cars. I even added all the 'bolt-on' parts to a FRS and tuned it for some "street car" online rooms. The Scion looks fantastic with a body-kit and a racing exhaust, if you guys havn't tried it yet.

The lounge is open. Racing will begin around 8pm EDT.

EDIT: Closed. Great racing tonight fellas. 👍

I think last night was the most fun I've had at Motegi, it was surprisingly entertaining watching the train of cars nose-to-tail snaking through the twisties lap after lap with hardly an incident. Really good stuff, I hope the next batch of cars provides good racing like this!

This is how close the pack was after 17 minutes of racing. 👍

And for any F1 fans that saw the nonsense in Malaysia, you should enjoy this!

Sorry for my hasty exit last night. I bumped NC into the sand and waited for him to catch up. We were 20+ seconds out at that point, he left, so I left as well. I hate it when people type in the chat box in a race, and I knew the field was tightly packed together at that point so I left without typing anything, knowing the exit message would be bad enough.

That was a good race. Nic and I spent 4 or 5 laps trying to close a 2-2.5 second gap on Owens and finally caught him on the last lap. Nic got by at the very end, while DSG was closing on all 3 of us. Another lap would have been epic!!

It's different, but I like it a lot more initially than a lot of the previous generations... Still hoping for a Coupe.

Neat little article on the progression of the model over the years... If the new WRX is gonna come with the same wheel base and carbon fiber roof like the M3, I hope it can at least rival the M3 in power and handling performance. 👍

I still love the bugeye more than any other Impreza to date, with the exeption of the GC body 2.5 RS...

I'll definately be racing Saturday night, I hope we get a few more out on track, grids of 10+ would awesome! :D

I wouldn't hold your breath, I don't think they have any plans to make a coupe again that isn't a BRZ

We had a great sized room Tuesday, Saturday's are usually a little slim but hopefully we'll get a good crowd for the final Sciyobaru race! 👍
