I don't particulary care for hybrids, mostly because I don't care for tuning in general. And I don't go to public lobbies either. So to me they don't sound like a serious problem, hence Sony/PD will do nothing, but punish the worst traceable offenders. Ergo: don't go to TT with hybrids, everyone else can keep on messing with those.
Heck, even I might be interested in doing a series of V8 Miatas.

I can arrange that... Isuzu happens to make a nice little V8 that sounds awesome and just fits into the Mazda engine compartment:dopey: It's on my list of things to make but I'm still stuck on making American cars sound like American cars and being able to corner at the same time:scared:

EDIT: You can always detune a 787B motor and drop it in there...lol...

Considering the majority of people still playing GT5 online are probably public room dwellers, and from what I've read (and can imagine) public rooms have been ruined by hybrids, it kinda forces them to do something about it. I rarely visit public rooms but I probably wouldn't even consider it now since it would most likely be pointless. I don't have much of an opinion on hybrids, I think using it to create realistic cars we don't have can be fun but unfortunately there are a lot of bad apples out there to ruin it for the whole bunch. Having read the news, I can say I'm glad I don't have any on my account.

I found out something fun today. Every year they hold a "pro" kart race in my town called the Mayor's Cup, been doing it since I was a kid. The print shop I work for is a sponsor (we do most of the printing for the event) and I guess they hold a "sponsors race" before the real events kick off. Basically they let people who sponsored the event get in a kart and do a race...........and I get to be the driver for our shop! It takes place on some of the downtown streets, and while Anderson, IN is certainly no Monaco (shut up NCemtB!!!) it will be close enough to make me smile! :) Happens next month, super stoked! :gtpflag:

AWESOME!!! Let us Hoosiers know time and date. I'd try and make it down for some meet and greet.

Nice driving with you guy's yesterday.! I´m looking forward for the next race. :)

Nice to race with you and LongBow, great to see some new faces. We didn't have the largest crowd but the racing was still fantastic. 👍

We're on to Indy Road this week, no big surprises like T1 at Daytona, at least not that I'm aware of. I think it should be some good, close racing, hope we continue our trend of big crowds on Tuesdays. :)

Saturdays have been a hit and miss for me lately with the season starting up again. This past weekend was a double header for a shakedown and first points event, so I was gone for a few days. I'm about 50/50 on this coming Saturday at this point.

I'm glad you mentioned that, as I am going to be at an event this coming Saturday and then again two weeks after that. Is anybody available to be a guest host on those two days (April 13 and April 27)?

This is my Tuesday/Saturday work week, so I won't make it for either day at Indy Road. 👎

...snip...hybrids suck....snip...I'm racing karts.....:gtpflag:

LOL...good luck in the kart race...but be careful. I've seen these "powder puff" races turn into major carnage from guys and gals in way over their head. Don't be going toe to toe with guys who have no idea what they are doing. Don't forget your Car of the Month/Deadnuts/GTPlanet gear!!:sly::sly:

Looks like the hybrid "banning" is just from TT's and online events. I don't think they are going to do much more or they would have announced it already. Looks like they're not going to do anything about it except for "official" events.

I'm hoping that the last 2 years of honing my racecraft with you guys will help me avoid the people who don't know what they're doing. I don't have any expectations, just excited to actually race (and hopefully stay out of trouble). I don't know what the procedure is yet, hoping we get at least a little bit of practice time.

In other motorsports news, this weekend I'll be participating in something called a DragCross, a new SCCA event that combines drag racing and AutoX into something resembling a rally Super Special Stage. Should be quite entertaining!

Take two parts autocross and one part drag racing, mix thoroughly and you get Drag/Cross. Drivers face off, side-by-side at a “drag race” start, before launching themselves down a straightaway and into mirror image autocross courses. Several rounds of class competition give drivers more seat time than a traditional autocross. The top qualifiers enter into single elimination brackets and run off until only one remains; the Top Eliminator. Top-level class competition, lots of seat time, awesome courses, heads up competition, the community and camaraderie of autocross, and the excitement of drag racing all combine to make Drag/Cross the most intense form of autocross on the planet!!

This will be all happening at Grissom Aeroplex, north of Kokomo on US 31.

All SCCA Solo rules are in effect except as explained below:

FORMAT

The event has two parts: Qualifying and Eliminations.

Qualifying will be four runs, two on each course. Qualifying also will determine class winners. Class winners will be the driver with the fastest clean run. Cones will count for two seconds added to the time per cone. Missed gates or sections of the course will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish) for that run and no time will be given. Qualifying will also determine place on ladder for eliminations.

Eliminations will be a ladder format. Example: Ladders will be split into two run groups: Top half of field on time and bottom half of field on time. Each run group will ladder drivers this way: Example- a 16 car ladder would ladder one -vs- sixteen, two -vs- fifteen, etc. Each run group will produce one “winner” and the winner of each run group will race each other for Top Eliminator of the event. First round losers will compete in a consolation round that will be laddered randomly. Higher qualified drivers have lane choice in first round. Following rounds faster time gets lane choice. Hit cones are a disqualification and automatic loss.

Cone Penalties in qualifying will follow normal SCCA Solo rules. In eliminations, any hit cones will result in a DQ.

Starter’s Procedure: Starter will line up cars on the starting line. Starter will gain the attention by standing in the starter’s position and pointing to each driver. Each driver must respond to the starter by nodding their head. Starter will raise arms above their head and hold them there. At the starter’s discression, he / she will drop his / her arms signaling the start of the race.

Wish we could do something like this in GT5, could be very entertaining and a nice change of pace!

Yeah, no. You should go into dirty rooms, disable rearview mirrors and practice dodging people who fully intend to use you as a brake by only using your side monitors.
And still, take a few ibuprofen, get a neck brace and a rib cage.

Shut it, or I'll tell the fellas what you were seen piloting last night. :dunce:

Some fantastic racing tonight fellas. The crowds may be smaller but the racing is the best it's ever been. 6 cars within 2 seconds......... 👍

Oval race. Started out a little boring but ended up being quite exciting.

At the risk of being labelled a complainer, I'm gonna say this:
Going in conga-lines around corners to be followed by long straights w/o much chance of passing anywhere except in positions #2-3 in the draft queue - is boring the hell out of me. Sure, patience is a virtue, bla-bla, etc.
So I think I'm gonna start doing OLR-legal dives (and I did a few in the last non-oval race). So consider this a warning and watch insides of your corners.

I have several done on me almost every time we race, and plenty that probably aren't legal. Might as well join the crowd! :sly:

Agreed, it was great racing tonight. Especially the road course sweep by the Canucks...good show Sag and Nic:)
