In the Lambo test sessions I did a 1:54.8 in the last session (the night session). I cannot see how much faster I was in the replay unfortunately (and it's the only replay I still got from the sessions). But I was in first place. In rain session I think I was about 2 seconds faster than the AI if I remember correctly. In the first session in daylight I think my pace was something like in the night session... dunno.

I chose "Hard" difficulty, it was suggested by the game. In the career I'm usually faster than anybody else (about 1 to 2 seconds per lap depending on track), but I think not yet fast enough for "Pro" difficulty.

You also don't have to win every race. It really doesn't matter that much in your first team. But I think you get offered contracts from better teams when you're winning. You should have a wider range of cars to choose from. I've just only done 3 race weekends (6 races) in the career so I don't really know what will come.

Remember that you usually get faster over time as you get used to the car. After some time you should learn new tricks and ways to get the car faster around corners.

How fast were you guys in the lambo testing sessions? Test 1 I’m a whole 3 sec faster than ai, test 2 in the wet only about 0.2 sec faster. I thought I did pretty well in the wet but I’m worried choosing a pro career that I’ll get annihilated in the wet races. Would be nice to see how fast the ai is before committing to a difficulty.

First car I chose I went with the Porsche and that was a huge mistake, I don’t understand how to drive that car in high speed corners so I’m gonna redo it with the Audi.

Also not sure about this but are we supposed to be finishing on pole with the cars we're given initially? I really want to race the Ferrari but not sure if I need to place first in a bunch of races or just place well?

I wouldn't give up the Porsche. Do some single player practice sessions and get used to it. Start with the aggressive setup to begin and then go from there.

If you're losing it in the high speed corners, you probably just need to add a little front sway bar or soften the rear spring rates. It should make it a little more compliant in the rear.

Thanks I might give it a go since I really like Porsche but this thing scares me

No problem.

I haven't used it yet, you can probably guess what ive been driving.

But its second on my list

I had a gut feeling to go with the Audi but chose the Porsche since it was newer. I drive the Porsche before on Paul riccard and was fine with it but that quick right hander at zolder kept killing me haha. I then drove the 2015 Audi in a hot lap session at zolder and it was so nice to drive compared to the Porsche but also felt like the Porsche had more potential if I could actually control it properly.

I need to do a single player race on the Porsche to see how i like it.

The Audi is pretty sweet for sure

Ok so I redid the lambo test for the 4th time, I must’ve gotten a bit faster because the game finally suggested pro difficulty. Yay.

Last time i tried the wet test on pro and was 3.5 seconds slower than the ai but I did some better laps this time and was only 2 seconds off the fastest ai... I guess I still have a lot of wet practice to do.

Was .5 slower in the night test, pretty sure I could’ve claimed fastest lap but I was getting tired and didn’t feel like restarting. Despite coming last in the final 2 tests I still got the gold achievement and was still able to pick the better cars. I went with the Audi, the Porsche can wait for another time.

Zolder first event and I was worried how slow I was going to be but to my surprise they were only about 1 second faster than on hard mode. I got pole in practice and both qualifiers!!

On hard I was easily a second ahead at Zolder but on pro I’m just scraping by. I got knocked down to P2 with about 8 mins left to go in Q2 but was able to get P1 back with a margin of .074 seconds, using low fuel. It was exciting and actually felt like a real achievement!!

Gonna do my 2 60 minute races @ Zolder tomorrow and looks like I’ll be doing some major defending. I can’t wait!

I definitely recommend the pro setting for you guys who are finding “hard” a bit too easy. It really pushes you but damn it was fun!

Struggled in the Misano races, manged podiums but no wins despite being on pole for both. Dominated in Hungary, the AI seemed particularly slow here, 2 seconds clear in qualifying and the shortcomings in the pitstops could be papered over by a dominant lead. 2 poles 2 wins.

Struggled with the Nurburgring. 2nd and 15th after taking a 30 second stop go for speeding.

Championship over, no idea where I finished because the game inexplicably doesn't show you.

Now I'm starting the endurance season. I've switched to the Honda NSX. Absolutely fluffed qualifying at Monza, got 1 clean lap across all the sessions to secure last place on the grid. But the race is an hour so let's see.

Did the race weekend at the Hungaroring.

Q1: 1:48.936 only P2, I had very much traffic in the session :(
Q2: 1:47.721 and saved P1 with that.

Race 1: PB was 1:47.418 and won the race. But had to fight back 2 places because I spun out big time.
Race 2: PB was 1:46.791 and won this too.

In both races I managed to perfectly hit the pitbox. I think I finally figured out where to stop with the 650S GT3.

how does the career work ? From what I've read you can't see the championship standings is that right ?
Also are you offered new contracts and is the weather scripted like PC2 ?

Thanks

The game suggested medium difficulty to me so i went with that and chose the mercedes. In free practise at zolder, after 10 minutes on a track I'd never seen before and in a car that i found a bit awkward to drive, i finished in 1st place, 4 seconds ahead of the next guy.

So I'll start again in hard, and with a different car.

I did the Hungaroring races done. Im not a fan of the track at all. Ive never liked it. .

This is great :-) I am here right now and after 3 attempts I am stumped. Suddenly at this track for my pit stop my crew insist on doing a brake change which takes my normal 30sec stop out to 1min 40sec. I thought that all the AI cars would do this too but no, it is only me. So with a 1min+ time penalty I have no hope of winning this race :-( I cannot for the life of me see where to turn off "Brake Change" during pit stop.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PS on the last attempt while driving 12/10ths I finished in 14th only to get DSQed but no explanation why. How do I know what I have done wrong?

A question about career mode - are there certain AI racers who are strong every race so you know who will be favourites for the championship? Or is it totally random who wins every race?

You can deselect ‘change brakes’ in the pit stop hud... it’s above driver select.

That totally sucks. I think is softened the rear suspension on my R8 to be more compliant in turn 4. I found out that if i hit the inside curb there i die

Like Stotty said, when you pit its an option in the hud that pops up

Ahhhhh........ I missed that. I was scouring through setups and the pitstop section. Too busy in pit lane looking for my pit and worrying about speeding. Cheers for that you saved me a heap of grief :-)

It sounds like until we work out exactly how to get pitstops performed as we want, it's a good idea to save the game just before and then if it messes up, you can just go back and try again!

Is it actually possible to save and resume a game mid race? That would be handy for endurance events

No problems... I always check mine on the run to the start... select the driver and make sure brakes & damage are set to off. Brakes are usually set to off default.

Depends... but I don't want it repaired if the car is driving OK... and light damage doesn't seem to effect the performance too badly most of the time.

I'd rather make a conscious choice to do it than have it on automatically.

Don't know if you guys have seen this but a quick and handy guide to the MFD from Aris, one of the Devs

So whilst it might be a difficult decision what buttons to map to the wheel, you can easily change all your settings here in any case so definitely map a button to MFD

There should definitely be a platinum trophy for that!!
Heheh yeah the pitstop placement is unneccessarily difficult I think. Aris has a video for some tips on how to stop at the correct place, might be worth watching.
In general though you need to practise pitstops on all tracks so you know where the breaking point is to get you down to first gear in order to activate the pit limiter.

Its something i forget to do. Practice pit in during practice.

Btw, regarding difficulty: Is anyone else finding the (AI) difficulty varies from track to track? I struggle in particular on Brands Hatch at 93 (quick race), but on Silverstone I think I can go all the way up to 97. Maybe I just need more practise at Brands.

Either way I wish it was possible to adjust the difficulty manually in career and championship. (Or that they tried to make it more consistent).

Im career mode you can't change it between races. Im racing on HARD and they're pretty consistent as far as pace vs mine as long as im not screwing up

I went for Normal as I was terrible in the Lambo ST test. I was 25secs ahead at Zolder and about 15 at brands. Can you change the difficulty at the end of the season? Not sure I can be bothered to restart and might just do championships instead if you cant.

Im at Nurburgring now so i don't know yet.

I restarted mine. I did normal and there was no challenge so i restarted on hard

you don't need to worry about speeding if you use the pit limiter ;) but you have to be in 1st gear, otherwise the pit limiter won't engage.

I set up my pitstops in the setup menu (fuel & strategy), so I choose the tyre-set and the pressures. At race start, while the cars are still standing I quickly select the driver for the Driver Swap in the MFD and untick the damage repair checkboxes and untick the change brakes if it's activated (but I think it will remember your settings, I only had it activated in the first race of the career). Sometimes I do it on the longest straight before the pitstop or in the pitlane after engaging the pit limiter.
