you don't need to worry about speeding if you use the pit limiter ;) but you have to be in 1st gear, otherwise the pit limiter won't engage.

I set up my pitstops in the setup menu (fuel & strategy), so I choose the tyre-set and the pressures. At race start, while the cars are still standing I quickly select the driver for the Driver Swap in the MFD and untick the damage repair checkboxes and untick the change brakes if it's activated (but I think it will remember your settings, I only had it activated in the first race of the career). Sometimes I do it on the longest straight before the pitstop or in the pitlane after engaging the pit limiter.

Well you learn something everyday. Here's me thinking the Pit Limiter is bugged when in actual fact I think I did have it in second gear on occasion. I have been nailed for speeding that many times now I am getting quite paranoid about it ;-) Thanx for this little gem.

Didn't realise it deleted your current career if you started a new one!

Back in the training car... 1.53.6 in the 1st test.

Gives me pro as suggested difficulty... wasn't destroying the competition on hard last go!

Not sure whether I'm just slow in the wet, but did a 2'01 flat in the wet test, got gold, and was 1.6s off the top AI time

Just started, here's a video of my fastest lap in the first part

Controller settings:
deadzone 0
Speed sensitivity 70
Steer filter 85
Steer speed 100
Steer gamma 1.6
Steer assist disabled

Hmmmm, is it normal to go faster when you can't see when you're going?

Fastest by 0.3 with a 1'52.6 in the dark, and lost a 0.5 advantage in the 2 Lemos.

Maybe I should play the game blindfolded?

Now come the first Endurance Race in Career Mode.

At Nürburgring my times were:

Q1: 1:59.010 .. much traffic again, only P2
Q2: 1:58.011 Pole Position

Race 1: Best lap only 1:58.467 ...also missed the pitbox again by some centimeters lol. Won the race
Race 2: Best lap and PB 1:56.997 with this car/track combination. Had 2 accidents / spins in the last chicane but won the race in the end.

Tomorrow I will start my first endurance race in the career. I've chosen the Audi R8 for the endurance series, the car I initially wanted (but I had compassion for the McLaren 650S). I drive the R8 in every sim.

So guys, if you don't like the car you started with, after 5 race weekends you can choose a new one.

Those are good times!

That's Thod info to know. I'll just pick the R8 again haha

Finally got around to my first race @ Zolder... My quali sessions were good enough for pole but starting the race with 113 litres of fuel and still only having a vague idea how to get through the more difficult corners really showed at the start. You ready need to know a track inside and out before plowing into a race on pro difficulty, but it’s incredibly rewarding nailing those turns I used to hate.

The first 5 laps or so I pulled a nice gap of about 2 seconds setting a couple of benchmark laps and then worked on being consistent. I thought I was in for another cake walk until the AI started pushing harder, so I had to do the same.

Having to be accurate within inches on a track lap after lap and pushing faster times really takes its toll, I’m not used to this, having a game be so mentally demanding. Physically too. My left leg was dead after 30 mins of late braking on my load cell. I’ve done longer races before in other games but it’s nothing like this. I managed to keep the gap to 2nd between .6 and 1.3 seconds once I was in a proper rhythm.

Pitstop went smoothly and I retained my position. I had to do some pitstop practice beforehand to absolutely nail it. FYI manual engine off/on is about 5 seconds faster than auto. Getting your braking right into the pit is easily worth a few seconds too.

Exiting my pitstop I noticed how very different the new tyres felt, it almost felt like they had less grip but I realised it was just different somehow. I’m assuming this is something to do with them being fresh maybe they need a lap to settle in which I guess they did since I forgot all about it and carried on.

These tracks are so detailed you can search for time lap after lap finding new ways to be that little bit faster. It’s incredibly fun and rewarding knowing that I truly know Zolder. Brands hatch should be interesting since that track never really gelled with me.

During the second stint I was getting more comfortable with my track knowledge and pushing harder but keeping within my limits. Averaging mid 1.31’s towards the end was sufficient in keeping the AI from breathing down my neck. Pulled a couple of high 1.30’s on the last lap since I was feeling cocky and ended up finishing 1.9 seconds ahead of P2. It was a huge relief to finish this race and a real feeling of accomplishment which is something I’ve been missing in racing lately. Loving this game!

Just a heads up about this game... some weird stuff started happening after I reloaded mid race save to test that it worked properly. The race resumed fine but the game was extremely laggy for a few corners.

Then something even stranger happened after the reload where my CC went from 92 to 00 and it was constantly green but it stayed at 00. I then checked it in the menu... it says I’m on 100 CC but thought the max you could get was 99 so I’m not sure if this is a glitch or not?

Another problem was that my lap timer screwed up when i resumed the race. I usually use it to keep my pace up but had to rely only on my gap from the next car to know when to push. Also the yes/no selections weren’t working when I initially reloaded so it seems really buggy at the moment.

In set up there is a pitstop section where you get to set tyre pressures for the replaced tyres. Might be worth a look to see if the replacements were the same pressures as the ones you started with. When I came across the car handling different after a pitstop this fixed it.

Test 2 of career mode done now on normal

Controller settings at the end of the video,

Not sure whether to pick the oldest car by the time I get to car selection for the "hardest" challenge at normal difficulty

Started my 1st Pro level career race at Zolder, this time in the Audi... the Audi is a lot easier to drive hard compared to the Porsche! Has quite a bit of understeer, but is much more stable on the brakes and overall is a lot more forgiving.

Q1 pole 1'31.2 (by 0.1)
Q2 pole 1'30.7 (by 0.6)

Race 1
Had to have to have a restart - running in 1st place just before the pit stop, then my throttle indicator starts bouncing and I have to exit and disassemble and clean everything (removing another 10sqm of cat fur in the process!).

2nd attempt; Took the lead at the start (just.. 2nd place Audi tried really hard to get round the outside in turn 1), drove conservatively for a couple of laps, then increased the pace to mid 31's. Pitted at half distance with a 1.7s lead. Missed my pit box (as usual - this is a complete PITA), but exited in the lead with 2nd place right behind me. Drove fairly defensively on the out lap, then picked up the pace to mid 31's again, creating a 1.5s gap, before setting down to run high 31's to the end, not chasing lap times (which is where my usual mistakes come) and just focusing on not making any mistakes.

Race 2
Again, held the lead from the start, though the Hurracan in 2nd was super aggressive over the 1st lap. This time I just pushed on from lap 2 (got a few more laps in the Audi now, so more confidence), and set low 31's straight away, followed by a couple of 30.8's. Still couldn't extend the gap much, with the Hurracan around 1.2-1.5s back. Pitted 1 lap after the Hurracan, and nailed the pit box for once. Exited just under a second ahead, with Englehart in the Hurracan behind. A scruffy outlap, and he was right behind me at the final chicane. Pushed on, running low 31's/high 30's, but never managed to get the gap above 1.2s, and won again.

The Audi is so much easier to drive than the Porsche - almost feels like cheating by comparison. You can brake deep and hard in to the apexes, downchange whilst turning, and even take an extra dab on the brake mid corner if you're carrying a bit too much entry speed... the Porsche will immediately spin if you try and of that Plus you can really hammer the throttle from the apex with Tc at 2 with no fear of losing the rear.

AI drivers seem to have different pace in the same car... though a silver driver team did end up in 3rd.

Sounds awesome!

Those are good lap times!

I love the stability under braking that the Audi has. It really inspires confidence. The only time i really screw up is if im riding high curbs too aggressively and it can send me either to Mars or into a spin. Sometimes even both.

I'm kind of confused by the lap times...

Fast PC lap times on Youtube are in the 1'27's, but when I compare my laps to them I can't brake anywhere near as late as they do. If I try using their brake markers I just overshoot the apexes. Not sure if this is some differences in physics engine and implementation between the console and PC version, car setup, or just LOFT on my side

Also, I can't smash the kerbs like they seem to do - if I hit the exit kerb at the 2nd chicane at Zolder like Jardier does in his track guide, my car launches in to orbit

Anyhow, based on 1 race, Pro seems a good level of challenge for me... had to drive without making any major mistakes to win.

Thanks good advice. I’m currently watching Aris’s video on tyre setups and learning a lot. I only ran a default aggressive setup in the race, didn’t even check my tyre pressures. I saw green so I figured it was all good.

Probably just a combination of setup and much higher FPS, zero lag and less input latency.

Im in the same boat. I saw some videos as well and im flabbergasted over how late they can brake and to carry that speed without spinning while trail braking. Idk, must be nice to have a sweet computer.

At Zolder for example, I get better drivers can outbrake me significantly in to turn 1, 2 and 4... these require accurate and skillful trail braking... and I know I can improve here as I am already getting better as I get used to the car/physics with more laps.

But braking in to the hairpin shouldn't be massively different.

Anyhow... the Brands Hatch wet test... how have you guys got on with this? Sometimes it tells me wet tyres are best, sometimes dry. If I run wet the tyres are red hot after a couple of laps. If I run slicks I need to put about 29psi in them to hold anywhere near 27.5. So far I haven't even passed this one... am I missing something, or just slow?

Its been a while since I did it but i think i had a similar issue. But then again another wet test it was bone dry. So wtf?

It worries me when someone with your experience and skill has a problem :-(

With any game and this is definitely no exception I always do the first play through on the easiest settings until I am confident with the idiosyncrasies and quirks. So some tracks I am 5-6 seconds a lap faster than the Ai and others I just scrape through on qualifying e.g Misano in the wet. I have never seen this track before so I needed to get used to it and wow, what a great way to do it, in the wet with low visibility and a very aggressive Ai - NOT :-( Then, later in career we go back to Misano for a wet tyre test and its in the dry so I have to drive like an idiot with screaming red hot tyres to get through :-( Why because it said it was Pirelli wet tyre test <shrug>

But I digress, my wet test at Brands Hatch was fully wet and very slippery.

I also concur about the Audi at Zolder it is suicide to touch the curbs in the first chicane. I have been sent into low orbit several times there already in this game ;-) Yet watching the Ai they just plough through it like it wasn't there.

Not sure whether I'm just slow in the wet, but did a 2'01 flat in the wet test, got gold, and was 1.6s off the top AI time
I was too. Think i was 1:54 something in the first test and the night test, with 1st position on both, on hard setting.
In the wet i was a 2:01 something and came in last, about 7 tenths down on 1st place

Round 2 @ Brands Hatch

I was way off the pace in free practice, struggling badly with understeer, so exited and went to free run to find a better set up. Still doesn't feel as good as at Zolder, but I'm more competitive.

Q1 2nd 1'24.9 (0.2 off pole)
Q2 4th 1'24.9 (0.4 off pole)

I'm purple in T2 & T3, but losing so much time in T1... primarily in Druids (the hairpin at the top of the hill)... I just can't seem to brake as late as the AI, or carry any entry or mid corner speed without understeering wide.

Will run the races tomorrow.... I'll be happy to hold my grid position!

Sorry guys couldn't find an appropriate thread to ask this question.

Is there any way of comparing lap times with friends? All I see is the top 7 players and the 2 closest to my lap time.

Q1 2nd 1'24.9 (0.2 off pole)
Q2 4th 1'24.9 (0.4 off pole)
jeeez... that's 0.8 seconds faster than my PB. I hate the track and only drive it when absolutely neccessary... maybe I should start spending more time on it... or use a different car. haha

I already did. it rotates enough I think. I think it's just one or two corners where I'm not confident enough. Also I could try increasing rake for some more ground effect.

Im not a big fan of brands either. Those are good times though, i always play with the sway bars for rotation. Increase the rear should help.

I like Brands - it has a great flow, just not sure how I can lose 0.5s in one relatively simple corner!
