Paid Porsche DLC

They would easily make their money back, GT sells over 2 to 1 to forza and considering forza did it PD could do it with more effect, obviously it would have to be a paid DLC pack though.
I still doubt it, the license would cost well into the seven figure range at the least. Plus, if it still takes so long to model a car for GT, it would take a pretty substantial amount of time to make a DLC pack large enough to warrant a twenty or thirty dollar price tag, and I'd say that's probably the least they could charge to even get close to breaking even. T10 also didn't have to work on many new cars for FM4- only 7 cars were new, so they really charged $20 for seven cars, even though the pack included 30.

Of course, these are all just estimates, and I could easily be completely off.

We're well aware of all that, also Porsche execs have been know to be elitist and pretentious in attitude, which makes the exclusivity to EA not too surprising.
Why Porsche would want their cars to only appear in games where the fastest racing line includes full opposite-lock drifting is beyond me.

It's not that its the game studio, Porsche gave EA an exclusive license, so if anyone wants a Porsche on their game they have to pay EA, most car makers don't give out Exclusive licenses as it limits exposure.

Also Microsoft only owns the Ferrari License for Xbox and PC theres no way they would of gave it to PD if they owned it for PS3

I'm aware that EA got its exclusive license from Porsche and Microsoft only owns the Ferrari license for the Xbox and PC. I'm saying I don't like the idea of a any game studio that wants to get the license of a Manufacterer from another Gaming studio, that never has sounded fair to me at all the moment I found out about these deals and I therefore don't want another even if its only limited to one console.

Nobody wants an overpowered beetle, haha.

We have RUF, you porsche fanboys should be happy with that.

But we don't have premum Ruf. :(

Doesn't GRID have the GT3 RSR? It can't be THAT difficult to put a proper 911 race car in the game.

Except that was at the time when EA was slightly more willing to share the license (recall that Forza 3 had Porsches at Launch around that same time).

Its business, you can't blame EA for taking up Porsches offer. The car companies are the ones that deserve to be blamed as they choose how and who to give there licenses out.

while i love the roadcars, what i really care is the racecars. The Moby Dick and 917 is a must have for GT series. EA didnt even use this exclusivity very well, they could add those cars in Shift but nooooo they make the porsches become bumper cars that would only corner by drifting. Im confused why Porsche themselves dont care that the cars are being represented like that. Money has blinded them.

Because as I said Porsche sees itself as an infallible automaker, they make tons of money in a field of car that's not obtainable by the average person. However, they still manage(d) to be the most profitable at one time and highest still of any car manufacture. They don't need their image in games really and that is the issue, Porsche is heavily ingrained into people's minds and they have a massive following of rich people that will buy them (e.g. Jerry Seinfeld). If Porsche really cared how EA implemented their cars, they probably pick companies like T10 or PD to model and display 911s and so on in a more prestigious way, but instead they pick a group that has tons of money to give for the exclusive rights and isn't about making a hardcore sim.

As I said, the simple reason they do it is because they can, don't care and the people who are buying new and historic Porsche's aren't sitting around hoping it is in GT (for the most part). That is the sad reality, their are two parties to blame, Porsche and EA for being the monopoly it tends to be.

Chance of Porsche in GT6? 100%! It will have RUF and the Volkswagen Beetle, so stop complaining. We need other cars first that are not represented at all in the game... Now I know the purists will say that a VW Beetle is not a Porsche, but it was designed by the same guy and not only is it's shape is very much the same as the 356, but it even had the same mechanicals. And RUFs are Porsches, they look like one, smell like one, sound like one, etc. That's not my opinion, it's fact.

One can like or dislike any particular car but to claim a Beetle is the same as a Porsche is grounds for asking you to return your mancard if you haven't already. You really need to hit the books and start at Cars101 and get back to us in a few months when you've actually learned something.

Like it or not, PD has adopted a stance that it won't get into a bidding war with anyone over an exclusive license, at least not for Porsche. Kaz probably sees being in GT as the big prize for Porsche and not the other way around. Personally I'd rather see Kaz say, "GT is the best driving sim on the planet and by God we're going to have Porsche and stick it in Turn10's...eye...every chance we get". Just not his style though. :grumpy:

Agreed. With all due respect, while the Yellowbird and CTR2 (993) are historically significant cars, why haven't PD managed to model a more recent model like the RT12 or RGT8?

What? Would I pay for a Porsche DLC?

Exactly. Give me a premium RGT-8 and I'll be quiet (and very, very happy). I love the 911. I don't even know why, but there's something about those lines... :embarrassed:

PORCHE IN GT? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

That's the best joke I've heard in..... HOURS....... :odd:

Seriously, think about this.......

PD gets Porche in game.......

EVERYONE who has EVER wanted Porche in GT then buys the game to get it........

DO you REALLY think EA would HAND (!!!!) PD THAT many sales for less than 90% of the royalties?

Ummmm..... Ain't happenin' (EVER!!!!!)

The implication from T10 with regards to the Porsche DLC pack was that it required a fairly large sum of money to get the sub-license back (and it only applies to FM4, so any future Forza games may not get them again, either). Since EA gets to decide the price for each party that's interested, the asking price for PD to score Porsche just might be too much for PD/Sony to bear.

Those fools at EA don't deserve anything - and I would rather do without Porsche than put 1 penny in their theiving pockets. [end of rant]

It's all about the right amount of $$$ never say never.

If PD can see people are really desperate for Porsches, why don't they just add more premium RUF's? They're basically the same...

So long as you like 911's or the occasional Boxster, and have absolutely no interest in their motorsports pedigree - it is after all only the most successful sports car racing marque ever.

It's been suggested before, but the idea that RUF is a suitable replacement only works for a small quantity of Porsche's lineup.

I agree that not having the motorsport pedigree of Porsche in GT6 is really disappointing, but we've got to accept facts its extremely unlikely that we'll get Porsche in GT6 for licensing reasons, so we've got to make do with RUF's.

The day that Martians land on Earth and communicate with a human being is the same day that a Porsche will appear in any Gran Turismo game.

Porsche won´t be in any Gran Turismo " game " because it is called " the real driving simulator "

Porsche does not argue or accept the fact that the Skyline R 35 is better as the 911 .

"Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time"

Because of that there won´t be a Porsche in GT6 .

end of story

Yawn.

If EA want to license than not allow anybody else to use Porsche, then Sony (or PD not quite sure about this stuff...) should license Nissan and not let anybody else use it. That'll be a kick in the nuts... :D:cheers:

No, it would be childishly daft.

Then Porsche is a egotistical company that doesn't want to accept the fact that there will be better cars out there? Meh? Include Porsche in GT6 but slap a RUF badge on it so Porsche doesn't complain.

Because that would Make PD no better then EA. No one benefits from these exclusive licenses and hogging it doesn't do any good of most of us.
But if they do it then maybe EA will just stop hogging the license from Porsche and in return PD will stop with Nissan so everyone wins.
