But if they do it then maybe EA will just stop hogging the license from Porsche and in return PD will stop with Nissan so everyone wins.

That's not a win for everyone, that's yet another manufacturer that people have to go to one game series for and that instance, one console to get (which is even worse). Again, that's going to make PD no better then EA and look at how everyone looks at EA.

You want to get back at someone that does something horrible like that, don't become them.

Because two morons playing keep away doesn't solve anything and only further hurts the market and everyone else.

If you think EA are going to stop because of this, your kidding yourself. They'd just go and buy the license PD has to offer and not sell Porsche. EA has enough money to do what ever the hell they want, while PD doesn't

You can download the demo of the game "NfS ProStreet" at the Porsche homepage.

German-English translation for the description at the homepage:
Electronic Arts (EA) is contuing the successful collaboration together with Porsche. This collaboration began with the special edition of "Need For Speed: Porsche" several years ago. The result is called "Need For Speed Pro Street." In this exclusive demo, you can choose between the Porsche 911 GT2 and 911 GT3 RS and prove your skills on the Porsche test track in Leipzig.
Porsche puts a good face to the matter.

I'm not even a Porsche fan but I would pay for the dlc as they do perform very well and have a rich racing heritage...definitely a worthy addition despite my opinions

Porsche won´t be in any Gran Turismo " game " because it is called " the real driving simulator "

Porsche does not argue or accept the fact that the Skyline R 35 is better as the 911 .

"Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time"

Because of that there won´t be a Porsche in GT6 .

end of story

That makes absolutely no sense

I think he was joking... maybe...

Who would benefit?

For Nissan video games are free marketing. Furthermore, compared to Porsche, they have a wider market.
I am extremely confident that the EA exclusivity has only damaged Porsche, for a handful of money they have dispelled its image in the video game industry.
Maybe something will change with VW's full ownership, VW uses a lot the video games for marketing purposes, Apple Store and Android Market are full of free games wanted by Volkswagen Group.

One can like or dislike any particular car but to claim a Beetle is the same as a Porsche is grounds for asking you to return your mancard if you haven't already. You really need to hit the books and start at Cars101 and get back to us in a few months when you've actually learned something.

Like it or not, PD has adopted a stance that it won't get into a bidding war with anyone over an exclusive license, at least not for Porsche. Kaz probably sees being in GT as the big prize for Porsche and not the other way around. Personally I'd rather see Kaz say, "GT is the best driving sim on the planet and by God we're going to have Porsche and stick it in Turn10's...eye...every chance we get". Just not his style though. :grumpy:

The Beetle is the same as a Porsche. Both the first Beetle and the first Porsche were designed by Porsche and shared many many parts. Here is a direct quote from Wikipedia:

"The 356 was created by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche (son of Dr. Ing. Ferdinand Porsche, founder of the company). Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Beetle (which Ferdinand Porsche Senior had designed), the 356 was a four-cylinder, air-cooled,rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car utilizing unitized pan and body construction. While the 356's body was an original design by Porsche employee Erwin Komenda, its mechanicals (including engine case and suspension components)were based on and initially sourced from Volkswagen."

They even look alike. Saying that the Beetle is not the same as a Porsche is like saying that a lion and a tiger are nothing alike even though they are of the same subspecies and close relatives. The Beetle gave birth to lots of other cars (including the first Porsches) and without it I doubt Porsche would've ever been able to afford to design and build their first car completely independently and from scratch.

I sure hope if we ever get Porsche in GT that PD labels them correctly and doesn't get the two of them confused since they are the "same".

You do realise that Porsche has come a long way since 1948 right?

The current VW beetle uses a front mounted inline 4 or inline 5 engine, the current 911 uses a rear mounted flat 6. The porsche looks good, sounds good, handles well, is very fast and is widely regarded as one of the best sports cars money can buy. The beetle is none of those things.

Don't get me wrong the original beetle is cool but anyone who claims that the current beetle and 911 have anything in common knows nothing about cars and watches too much Top Gear

Quick Porsche related question guys. Let's say PD secured the rights to World Endurance Championship 2014. How would it work for the Porsche LMP1 car next year? Would EAs rights to Porsche overrule the rights to include the new race car?

Always curious and with a high profile example coming up it occurred to me again.

Pretty much. Any Porsche, even the race cars, are under that license.

Notice I said "Beetle" and not "New Beetle" and I never mentioned the 911. I was comparing the old original Beetle and the original 356. There was even a very limited run of 1303 Beetles in Germany that were a bit of a Frankenstein creation. From what I can gather, it was a Beetle body mounted on a Porsche 914/6 chassis and with a 911 Carrera engine! It was a very limited run but at least 10 of them still exist and you can tell them apart by the vents on the side rear quarters and the bulged up guards (wheel wells).

Yeah fair enough, I though you were referring to Porsche in general. Would be great to have some modern Porsches in GT

I would love to see the original 911 (901), 356, 928, 914 (and 914/6), you know the Porsches that started each particular model lines. I think the newer ones lost a bit of their "soul". But that's what happens when you keep making a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a...

The originals certainly have cred, but not sure that I would accuse modern Porsches of lacking soul. Sure the base carrera is pretty "refined" these says, but a few that come to mind are the 964 turbo, 993 GT2, 997 GT3 and GT2 RS, Cayman R (not to mention the carrera GT and 918). If anything I'm glad Porsche have stuck with and refined the original 911 recipe. There's a reason it has always been so popular

its to sad for some Racing Games (GTR2 ,Rfactor) build i some Porsches (993 GT1,996 GT1 Evo)
maybe we see Porsche as DLC ...i hope for that!

I'm surprised that Porsche hasn't tried to get out of the deal with EA yet. The NFS games are ok but there are so many other popular games such as GT and Forza that you would think Porsche's marketing department would be screaming to get their cars in them. Look what GT did for the Skyline... A whole generation of car enthusiasts came to know and love the GT-R just through a game. That's pretty simple and effective marketing to me.

If we do get Porsche, I hope that PD decides to make some of the Rufs premium (or some new ones all together; either ones good in my book).

I believe that there's a chance of BTR going premium. Its quality went up A LOT. It definitely looks like a Premium, only without interior view. Exactly the same as that new M4 or VGT...

Yeah, no gallery view though eh?

If Porsche were to come, I only want a 945 turbo and this

Nice, I would take this car

Or then again, this year's Le Mans wining 911's sound tasty, especially as base models. One thing, A Porsche banner appears at Le Sarthe in GT6, just after the 90 degree right hander after Indianapolis
