Time for a history lesson for this series, because I feel like it. >_>
I believe GT5 came out on the 22nd of November in America, and the 25th here in the UK. On the 5th of December 2010, GTP_Fuzzy held a 100 lap invitational NASCAR race at Daytona (cautions, no tuning or added parts allowed, grip reduction real, fuel and tyre wear, only ABS allowed, bump drafting not allowed in the turns). The 2 cars in the recommended list were the best to use for the race (2010 #88 and #24) as the default tuning of the dealership cars wasn't very good compared to them, and we weren't allowed to tune the cars at all. A couple of days beforehand, Chadwicksracing had started preseason testing for SCANA (stock car association of North America), and his rules were used for the race.
The pace car was TommyWizard, but he had connection issues after the race start forcing us to stop after 3 laps. One of the racers stepped in quickly to take his place, using a Peugeot 908 instead of the 2010 Camaro. I took advantage of this period between races to complete a single lap and get pole in my recommended list #88 for the second attempt.
I deleted my replay of the race some time ago, but Chad uploaded it (minus caution periods, and sadly with no sound) to youtube and it's still there. See this post for his 6 videos:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4269761#post4269761 (Cautions weren't allowed for the last 2 laps, as we wanted to finish under green. I dodged 2 crashes on the last lap or two and won
).
After this I joined Chad's SCANA, along with a few others from the race, though after their first race at Indy. Chad and Gtuuk were the main 2 guys running it (both were in Fuzzy's 100 race). SCANA was pretty much what our current series is, except it had cautions. Due to the popularity of the oval races in SCANA and elsewhere, Gtuuk started up FND (friday night Daytona) which raced mostly at Daytona, but occasionally Indy. Both series had pretty much the same core group of drivers. After having problems with complaints at FND and mic issues where vital things sometimes weren't heard, Gtuuk cancelled FND and pulled out of SCANA. Chad cancelled SCANA when this happened. He then tried SCANA again for 1 more week, before stopping it for good.
After this we had the few months where PSN was down. Once PSN was back up, I checked around and saw Drop and Knelly in a room, so I joined them. They were discussing the first season of this series and invited me in for the second race, as the first one had already happened. I wasn't sure at first, as I remember Drop being something of a clumsy noob in SCANA races (I remember one race at Indy where everyone was shouting at him
), but decided to go for it anyway, as I knew he'd been working to improve even before PSN went down, and he said that this was basically SCANA, just without cautions.
That bring us to the series we are in today. Hooray!
Drivers from SCANA and FND that have continued their racing in this series: Me, Drop, Knelly, M-Stall, Nitroustang96 (though he was only in 1 race in the first season of this series).
