Here are the current top 11 in point standings. If the draft took place right now, based on these standings, where do you think everyone would be driving next season?

1. Droptop2001gt
2. Knelly
3. JoeOfTheFire
4. CrAzY_bAsSiSt_83
5. RFLX_Niop
6. M-Stall41
7. homeslice47
8. Mudd
9. Furinkazen
10. dowhat13
11. ACDCROCKS123

Who claims a team? Which team? Who would rather drive for a team already claimed? How do you think it might shake out?

Use this format for teams:

Hendrick Motorsports - 4 cars
(1) #24 2010 DuPont -
(2) #24 2011 Drive to End Hunger -
(3) #48 -
(4) #88 -

Joe Gibbs Racing - 4 cars
(5) #11 -
(6) #18 -
(7) #20 Home Depot -
(8) #20 Gamestop -

Ford Racing - 3 cars
(9) #43 2010 Insignia -
(10) #43 2011 Best Buy -
(11) #99 -

Red Bull Racing - 3 cars
(12) #83 2010 blue -
(13) #83 2011 silver -
(14) #83 (either color) -

Stewart-Ganassi Racing - 2 cars
(15) #14 -
(16) #42 -

That'd depend on what you and Knelly had done. (my choice, that is)

I honestly expect that the first four drivers would select to own the first four teams, in this scenario. Then RFLX has a real choice: Drive for anyone he wants, or grab ownership of Stewart-Ganassi so he and ACDC can run a rogue two-man team next season.

I hope no one gets any ideas

I hear droptop was dying to have jakob drive his fourth car

I'd happily team up with Joe and Knelly in the #20  Will be interesting to see how things pan out, my choices will obviously be narrowed down after you guys have all had your picks.

We should put the #88 with stewart/ganasi, and put the gamestop car with redbull. I think that would even out the teams better.

This isn't what I think would happen, but it'd be interesting:

Hendrick Motorsports - 4 cars. The team to watch out for
(1) #24 2010 DuPont - Joe
(2) #24 2011 Drive to End Hunger - Niop
(3) #48 - Homeslice
(4) #88 - MustardAddict

Joe Gibbs Racing - 4 cars. The reliable racers
(5) #11 - Tom
(6) #18 - Knelly
(7) #20 Home Depot - m-stall
(8) #20 Gamestop - droptop

Ford Racing - 3 cars. Team "plz don't punt me ;'( "
(9) #43 2010 Insignia - Furi
(10) #43 2011 Best Buy - ACDC
(11) #99 - Jakob

Red Bull Racing - 3 cars. The gamblers
(12) #83 2010 blue - dowhat
(13) #83 2011 silver - crazy
(14) #83 (either color) - chqr

Stewart-Ganassi Racing - 2 cars. The unlucky drivers
(15) #14 - mudd
(16) #42 - funkyducks

I think you were referring to my picks. So Jakob in the #88 with Furi and a fourth car that no one has added to Red Bull??

Edit: ok after reading drops reply, I get it. You are saying to put three cars on each team. Sorry I thought you were being funny :(

NASCAR has large and small teams. With 5 teams and 16 spots, at least one team has to run 4 cars. If anything was going to change, the GameStop car could be dropped, with Stewart-Ganassi taking on a third car (perhaps 2010 and 2011 #14s). If we can get a GameStop driver, I would rather have teams of 4, 4, 3, 3, and 2. It's more like the real Sprint Cup, where you have large teams (Hendrick/Roush), medium teams (Michael Waltrip/RCR/Gibbs) small teams (Penske/EGR/RPM/Stewart-Haas) and independents (Wood Brothers/Furniture Row/JTG). I think the balance is OK, and creates better realism. I also think having larger and smaller teams provides incentive to improve for all drivers, if they want to stay on the larger teams.

Anyway why go 3 wide? It's boring. You need 4 wide?!

Have you got a driving licence mate? I'd hate to be in that car...

'And they're 3 wide going down the motorway!' '4 wide! 4 wide coming up to the traffic lights!'

On a serious note, an independent press release from Furinkazen:

"I intend to continue racing next season in NASCAR. I will continue to drive the FedEx #11 Toyota Camry until the season ends. After that I will look at how teams shape up and what slots are open. I can confirm I have had independent tests with Stewart-Ganassi Racing and Ford Racing. However I will watch post season.

Statement from #14 driver, Mudd, made earlier today:

"I'm actually looking foward to driving for a team rather than trying to run a team. I feel that i may have jumped into team ownership a little prematurely and i really want to concentrate more energy on a run for the Cup without all the distractions of running a team. There's some obvious teamwork going on between Stewart-Ganassi and Red Bull, so theres a good chance of a team forming there, but alot can change by then considering how close the chase is turning out. All I can confirm at this point is that I will throw my hat in the 'driver for hire' pool for next season. "

Oh god, bump-drafting the traffic.:dopey:

Just so everyone knows, the five team owners are sometimes asked to decide on rule changes or other decisions that sometimes need to be made that I don't feel comfortable deciding on without input. As a team owner, you have a 20% say in the direction and future of the league, when needed.

Hmm, and the penguin is left to wonder if any team wants him. :boggled:

So how does it work when people are put in teams? Is it an NHL style draft?

The points champion has first choice, and can select to own any team. The runner-up in points can select to own another team, or can request to drive for the team that is already owned. The team owner has the option to allow or deny any requests to drive a car on his team.

The process repeats down the order of the points standings until all five teams are owned. Once all five teams have a team owner, it is the responsibility of the new owner to fill any empty seats left on his team before the season starts.

Hey, Drop, "DriveTheGaurd88" would like to join our reserve list, he's registered on GTP but has trouble getting to a PC as of late. He's a clean driver and is also on several Sprint Series members friends lists. He's hoping to join us tomorrow, thanks.

So basically anyone who want's to race next season who wasn't in it this season, or before, would have to (For lack of no better example) put there name in a hat and hope somebody pick's it?

Correct or am I missing something? Cause I'd be interested in joining but wondering how it works. If it's already been said I apologise and ask someone to point me in the direction of the answer. Thanks for any response. 👍

Once all of the teams have an owner, you'll be in the same boat as everyone remaining if I understand it correctly. If I were you, I would try and make some of the remaining races to show potential owners what you're made of. You could probably still make it into the top 14 or 15 in points.

In that case, may I join today?

The more the merrier, but I'm sure Drop will say that if regulars can't get in as a result, then you may be asked politely to leave .... unless Mr 3 Wide is trying to get in ;)

Yeah, get a couple of races in so we can see what you're like. Then when it comes to the draft we won't be potentially picking someone for the team who we've never seen race NASCAR.

Matty: it'll be up to the team owner whether to accept someone as their driver or not. Any of us could ask to drive for a team but be turned down by the owner.

I presume that after we do down the list of chase drivers for the draft, we'll continue down the list of regular season point finishers, not counting those who no longer race with us.

Current list of 23 drivers for next season:

Drop
Knelly
Joe
Crazy
Niop
M-Stall
Homeslice
Mudd
Furi
dowhat
ACDC
mustardaddict
Jakob
chqr
funkyducks
smuffy
Drift_Phish
carbonox
chadwicksracing
Tom
HSV-101 (akmuq)
Matty
drivetheguard88

I know some of these drivers would only be part-time though, and we could have reserves.

The best way to get a seat for next season is to get some experience and show potential owners what you can do this year. Bring out a car today.
