And what in hell, would that car be handling like sideways? Missing the point of the thread on most cars imo.

How is it missing the point of the thread? He asked for a chassis that would have a wider track, and I suggested one. Does anywhere in this thread state it has to be a drift car? No, chassis swaps that give good fitment not handling.

Edit: List re-arranged again for easier use :)

One tiny problem. Drifting forum? This started out as a thread for Drift cars with stance, didn't it?
I'm not giving you a hard time, believe me.

The fact that this is one of the only active threads in the drifting forum atm, is bad. And it isn't even related to drifting.

No, it didn't. I posted it here because the majority of people that are appealed to stance are the drifting community.

One could argue personal drift style matters more than the specifications of the vehicle itself; who's to say a wider, flush stance doesn't lend itself to a person's particular drift style like long wheelbases cater to mine?

The look of the car is heavy into the drifting culture.

Well, I lower my cars too. But I use chassis, drivetrain and engine swaps to make the car feel better. So, basically my opinion would be: Function over form. Which makes sense, doesn't it?

And I don't believe changing to an M3 GTR RM chassis, for example, is a good way of improving car handling. So, apart from an aesthetics point of view... That change would be useless for drifting.

Riiiight. That's why the basics of drifting come from Matsuri events, and cheap Touge-events in Japan... As I said, function over form.

At Ant: Apparently people seem to appreciate stance most, in this sub-forum. (compared to others.) hence I will (probably exactly for the same reason the mods did), ignore the thread so far. :P

function vs form is always an opinion... some prefer different. No one has ever said that it's supposed to be function before form.

Therein lies the eternal struggle inherent to The Great Oxymoron that is drifting; for every optimal setup, balanced chassis, and functional upgrades, there are wild color combos, crazy wheel offsets, and reverse entries...the logical side of me puts function over form, but then the cool side of me reminds me the logical side is aware that in this age of high displacement engines, modern tires, and advanced traction control, that vehicles have no business exaggerating an oversteer condition to get around corners..

So I like to think drifting is one of those few venues where form and function skip happily side by side.. :)

And I haven't seen it yet, but wheelbase measurements put the premium Z33 chassis as a nice swap to fill out the Volvo 240 wagon.
And a 97-02 Audi S4 chassis for the R30 and R31 Skylines should look pretty good as well.

*applaud* well said sir. A car is not supposed to be sliding around corners yet people think there is more function than form involved with drifting.
