Childhood Dream Cars?

This was probably my first actual "dream" car, back in around 2003:

I'm not sure quite why I liked it so much but I really did. I still like it, much nicer than the current SL imo.

After that, I fell in love with the DB9:

I even got to ride in one! It was amazing. I was pretty speechless at the time I think 💡

Growing up in the later 80's and early 90's, I think my "childhood dream vehicles" would reflect the era pretty well.

Toyota Pickup (Hilux/Tacoma), Back to the Future sealed the deal on this for me.

Lamborghini Countach, specifically in white

Ferrari Testarossa, as made famous by one of my favorite games Outrun

Yes, yes and yes. 👍

My junior school best friend and I had this whole imaginary world we made up, we both owned car dealerships and had an assortment of cars, and I had one of these. It was my imaginary daily driver. I'd still daily one in real life now if I could afford it.

I also had an obsession with these as a kid.

And I'd always yell "MINI!" if I ever saw one from about the age of 5 until I was around 8. I loved the classic Mini, too. I still want one of those as well.

A couple slightly interesting cars for me:

2004 Lotus Elise

These days I'm a bit more practical. 2011 Mazda CX-5. This blue is one of my all time favorite colours. If I had the money, I'd respray every car I own in this colour

Alfa Romeo 8C

And finally, Aston Martin V12 Vantage

Posting more because I only posted the Delfino earlier.

Sadly I didn't really have many dream cars that weren't supercars :(

My childhood dream car was a Ferrari 360 Modena.
Ferrari_F360_Modena_-_Flickr_-_The_Car_Spy_(20).jpg

But then after growing up, now I want a Toyota GT86.

An F1 car, with my childhood mindset.

But among road cars it was whatever my best model cars were. That'd be the Maserati MC12 and Ferrari Enzo then. Then it was the Evo 8 I had which became my eventual favourite...much like the Evo is my favourite car now.

I still have all three, and several other large-ish model cars (and several smaller ones which have been left in my home garage to rust). But they're all looking fairly worse for wear. That's 8 year old me for you though.

I can also back the Cien above on the basis it was the fastest thing ever in GT Concept and a weapon in GT4. Even if you can't actually buy one.

Another one for the Viper GTS, my dad used to make a bunch of copies of this one color-in picture of it, and I basically threw the whole crayon box at it,. Red/Silver, Blue/White, Red/Green (I think it was X-mas then :D).

I'm trying to think if anything else stood-out like it did back then, but all I can remember is coloring multiple pages at my Aunt's.

Oh, yeah there was 1 truck I loved...

I didn't know of, or care about legality, I wanted BIGFOOT

Not that surprising. I was 10 when it showed up. It seemed like such a defiant, middle-finger-to-the-establishment sort of car, especially stacked up against the Porsches, Lambos, and Ferraris of the time. Naturally, it could only be this combo.

upload_2015-5-24_23-21-14.png

This exact colour combination too, please. I remember liking the NSX before GT1 showed up, and it's still a fascinating shape two decades later. It's modest despite the clear supercar proportions: the anti-Viper, really.

What did Gran Turismo introduce to my dream garage?

Give me Samba Green, or give me death.

My child dream cars? Okay...

I have Gran Turismo to thank for introducing me to the almighty beast that is the Mitsubishi GTO TwinTurbo (NOT the 3000GT):
VR4-1.jpg

1997-Mitsubishi-GTO-Twin_Turbo_MR_07.jpg

Among the Supra, Skyline and NSX, it was the dark-horse that could take the fight right to them, but didn't get the recognition it deserved. A reason why I still love it today.

My dream car I know I could never afford...

images

Makes me think of a boeing 747 and a 1930s hot rod fused together. Sounds like rolling thunder too :)

My dream car I MIGHT be able to afford some day...

2006_lotus_elise_convertible_base_fq_oem_1_500.jpg

Now whether my 6'1" self could fit in it or not...hmmmmm

And my dream car I could afford now...

Mazda_Miata.jpg

I've seen a few nice ones for less than $5000 around here. Too bad I can't get away with anything with less than four seats.

Dodge_Viper_RT-10_1992%2011.jpg

I had a toy of a 1992 Viper as a kid. I fell in love, then cheated on it with my current loves: A 1969 Z/28 Camaro, a 1957 Bel-Air, a 1958-1962 Corvette, and a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6.

Dagger, my man. You did read my mind. I used to love this RT/10 a lot over the GTS. If wasn't for that demo of the original Need For Speed game, I wouldn't have known such beauty of the snake.

Everything was great for it. The sound, the looks, Dodge did good on it, big time.

Followed by it, here's a favourite of mine, of the Ferrari's.
That's right. The 512TR. So awesome.
512-TR-4.jpg

I have many other childhood faves, but it's too much to fit the list. I might have to comeback here again soon.
