CLASSIC RACING Sundays 17:00-19:00 GMT: "Ford Ferrari Wars" LEX CHAMP by 1 Point!Finished

It's a shame you can't remove the chassis stiffening. Once fitted, like it or not, you're stuck with it.
At least it doesn't count as tuning in GT6.

7 cars! That's a big trailer. :)

Chassis stiffening is recommended on the Chevrolet Corvette C2 race Car by GT6 Tuning God Motor City Hami. I tried it back to back by buying a second car and it does improve that model. I also checked that a Tuning Prohibited Room will accept chassis stiffening - good news - it will!

I have read that chassis stiffening has a detrimental effect on some cars. It might help, but the only way to check is by buying 2 cars and doing back to back tests - I was planning to do that on all the Category 2 cars, but ran out of time and credits.

For the short test races today we will be running the BSCC cars with a limit of 360bhp - I think this will make the racing closer - if it does I will alter the thread and confirm the change. NB this only affects the Buick special as the Mini and Renault are already tuned to maximum power.

We will do short test races at Tsukuba and High Speed Ring - you can use the same setups at both tracks, but obviously remember to change the gearing, but the Renault is very difficult to get round High Speed Ring without spinning - a temporary fix for the Renault at this track is to swap the front tyres for sport softs - this will enable you to use the same suspension setup as for Tsukuba.

IfandOr I asked about chassis stiffening because it can't be removed, usually I leave it alone. The trailer is a special Lucille Ball edition.

Sick, I found the Buick to run a little slower than the Mini and the Renault as well. Good idea.

Just thought I´d leave this here.

And this.

Category 1 drivers: Think ahead, be patient on the Category 2 drivers, they are slower and you have plenty of time.

Category 2 drivers: Think ahead, respect C1 drivers, they are faster than you.

Both Category drivers: Please leave each other room.

Yes, thank you Smiley I forgot to mention this. Especially when you are getting lapped!

But there is more to this, one must be aware he is about to be lapped, so please make sure you know where your positioned and learn which driver has which car.

If you know that Smiley aka OneRacer73 is in the Chaparal and he is listed as P1, its obvious you don´t need to fight and just give him room to overtake you when you see him. Btw. great win Smiley, I enjoy watching the replay of the Chaparal. :)

I try and get used to the bumper cam now that I participate in C2, only so I can spot a C1 early enough.

Second the rules, when a faster car comes to lap an slower car, then the a driver of slower car must slow down and give a room for the faster car. But if a slower driver blocks an faster car, he will recieve a penalty. But as Sick's races normally have penalties, so if a faster car hits the slower car, then a faster car will have an penalty for colision.

Hi all classic racers

Thanks for inviting me Sick and letting me take part in today's test.

I had fun even though I was mostly at the back.

Apologies to the guys who lapped me in Tsukuba who I turned in on. :embarrassed:
I honestly didn't realise you had got around that quick or who you were. But I'm learning fast.

I'm new to this so all suggestions and advice on my driving is very appreciated and welcome.

All the cars look amazing but the Renault is so hard to drive I was impressed at all guys who managed to get fastest laps with that. :bowdown:

I'm going to miss next Sunday but hopefully be able to race in the next races if there's a place for a rookie reserve driver.

All the best. :cheers:

If you think the Renault was a handful I recommend you to avoid the Corvette C2 Race Car. It will run untuned so there is not much you can do about the emense power that wants to violate those tiny tires. The Renault however is a dream! I offer anybody a share of my setup for it, but only through PM on GTP or PSN.

Thanks Flaco. I'll probably take you up on that offer but the bottom line is I need to get better not the car.

I try and get used to the bumper cam now...
Yes me too. But I find the bumper cam can be a little low sometimes.
I did like to drive with the "bonnet" cam because it gave me the best view of the road ahead. That way I could allow more space for any "trouble" I could see happening in front. And also it allowed a little peripheral vision when cars were along side. But the lack of a rear view mirror is a major problem! Having to look back all the time causes more problems.

I also really, really, miss the zoomable map from GT5. I used to have it set to 2 or 3 and it would show me the exact positions of all the cars around me. I could see if someone was trying to make a move on the inside.
My racing experience has got worse since this was removed - I tend to be over cautious now and this lets other drivers through. Hopefully without incident though.

What I need is a triple monitor setup. :)

but the Renault is so hard to drive

This is part of the problem. The classic cars can be hard to master. So sometimes avoiding incidents isn't so easy. C2 race car! That's why I switched to the AM Corvette - though that's a handful as well.

Sick - Not sure how you'd do it but perhaps there could be a two stage start. C1's first followed by C2's a short while later.

*My PS3 shut down on me again - so that's why I departed suddenly! So I'd better get that sorted before the triple screens.

How to unintentionally PIT maneuver Flaco in four easy steps:

1. Insert your head into your arse;

2. Attempt to overtake on the inside while at the limits of traction;

3. Fear deceleration because you know you'll spin;

4. Let nature take it's course.

Sorry, Flaco.

Sick, Whisper, Emo and Smiley into the first turn. Seven laps later, a patch of ice took out Whisper and he couldn't find his way into the pits. Eventually, he stopped to pee and change his tires, where he stole the unguarded bottle of victory champagne--which is fueling these asinine comments.

:lol: :lol: :lol: Just admit it, you hate me for some reason! :lol:

Naw, its all good man I´m not mad I´m glad your back and hope your here to stay. :cheers:

Thanks Flaco. I'll probably take you up on that offer but the bottom line is I need to get better not the car.
Take the setup offer change some things for your liking and then practice with that, a hard to control unpredictable car can be frustrating and I´m not sure thats a good base to get more experience/skills.

I might use the bumper cam only for the multiple class races, I stick to bonnet cam for the others, for the exact same reasons you mentioned above. :D :cheers: but I tried the bumper view on the last race and it went fine, I didn´t realise how Lex manouvred himself into a strange position towards the right hand side of me on the last corner of lap 1, which caused him to go off track. But when he recovered some time later, I spotted his green Jag coming closer and although there was no lapping involved I decided to make extra wide room for him to have no trouble at all overtaking me, I even announced it via headset but I don´t know he heard it.

Never thought about using the zoomable map for this but its a great idea ... or was (PD :irked: ) and I think those red arrows are no substitute, I´m not even sure I ever notice them.

I´m with you there on the hardware things, my PS3 isn´t the newest either, thankfully without any major issues so far, but I´m trying to save for a bigger screen, next gen console(s) and fitting wheel peripherals all of that will cost a little fortune already so triple monitor is last on the list right next to rigs.

After driving Gordini Chaparral was piece of cake :). Have no replay, of course forgot to save :ill:

I found bumper cam great when driving alone, otherwise position to low sadly.

I use often backview to see what is going on.

Parade laps were awesome, car parts everywhere... little smoke too lol :):)

Great meeting, full room of drivers, nice mates, awesome Sunday Classic 👍👍👍

Lovely pictures IfAndOr and Jbaffoh and sound words of advice from Flaco. There were a lot of problems at todays meeting - but that is why we have a test meeting to find the problems and fix them!

As well as the advice already offered please follow these additional points in future meetings - old hands will be aware of these things, but new racers may not be aware.

1. No talking and no sending of messages during qualifying - it is very distracting and can ruin the session.
2. Remember to keep your car completely still using the brakes until the start - if you creep forward the game will give you a penalty and with a full grid it is inevitable that your car will be rammed by at least one other driver.
3. Brake slightly early at the first corner - the cars will bunch up and someone starting at the back may need to brake extra early to avoid collisions.
4. Make sure you have the proximity indicator on - it indicates with an arrow which side another car is
5. Be patient- passing opportunities will arise - normal races are longer than todays test races.
6. Talking should be kept to a minimum during races, but if you have a headset use it to indicate at the start of a lap that you will be pitting on that lap (e.g. Sick pitting on lap 10), then announce when you are about to enter the pits and also announce when you are leaving the pits.
7. Take extra care when leaving the pits not to get in the way of approaching traffic - if there is some then stay to the side of the lane markings and refrain from taking up the racing line until it is safe.
8. When being lapped, don't panic, keep the car steady and follow a normal line - when the faster car is beside you brake slightly early to give them the corner.
9. If you have a headset you can use it to indicate that you are about to lap.
10. If you have a headset and are about to be lapped you can use it to communicate e.g. Sick speaking Flaco pass on right.
11. If you haven't got a headset you can use the horn to indicate that you are about to lap - this is correct use of the horn - it is to warn of your presence. Do not take offence at use of the horn, but only use it for its correct purpose - not at the start of the race.
12. If you come off the track, particularly if you spin, be careful when rejoining the track - use the track map to check for approaching cars and if necessary delay rejoining until it is safe.
13. Memorise the colours and cars in category 1 and 2 as follows:

Red = Category 1 = Ford + Ferrari (Prototypes)
Dark Green = Category 1 Jaguar (Prototype)
White = Category 1 = Chaparral (Prototype)
Light Green = Category 1 = Daytona Coupe +Cobra
Blue = Category 2 = Daytona Coupe + Cobra
White with Blue stripes = Category 2 = Cobra (only danielsspel at present)
White = Category 2 = Art Morrison Corvette
Dark Silver = Category 2 = Corvette C2 Race Car

14. If you had difficulty entering the room with your Ford Ferrari Wars car - please get this sorted before next week - the FFW Championship is Tuning Prohibited and all testing has been done on that basis - if you cannot reset the car to standard you will need to buy another car.
15. Enjoy your racing - don't get too worked up - don't swear - some people race in their sitting room with wife and children present - remember some contact is inevitable. If it is seriously bad driving send a message to Sick after the meeting - he will review the replay and if necessary will consult one or more of the Deputy Hosts (IfAndOr, Lex Lathor and Emotional Rekz).

Finally congratulations to Pimiki for victories in the BSCC test races and also Smiley for his excellent drive to first place in the Chaparral.

FFW Poster Final.jpg

Please note the following change - BSCC power limit will be 350bhp

Hello. Sorry for joining suddenly yesterday without checking this thread and not really knowing what was going on. I'm gonna be free now, so I can join every week again. Though, it seems it's full so I'd like to join if a spot opens up. Thanks for letting me race yesterday! It was pretty fun.

Nice words Sick. 👍

I wil mute audio next time for all except Sick, because there are pops, sounds, coughing,...etc, dont like it at all

Could not hear the tires properly because have to lower the sfx volume to hear Sick audio chat...

Please drivers keep in mind that Chaparral has first gear very long (170kmh) so could not start so fast when race begin.

Showing off with fancy backward parade driving can lead to disaster. Beware. (Really, this was a parade lap! LOL)

That's where I learnt the difference between owning a Chaparral and being able to drive one! I really should have stuck to the Jaguar and Buick that I'd been practising in.
Sorry guys. :(

And sorry for the coughing. I've been ill lately. I turned off the mic completely last week but then I couldn't hear what was being said.

Sorry if I caused any incidents. I had to work hard to keep the Gordini pointing forward and the MK4 off that well oiled grass :boggled:

I am considering running the MK4 with Sports Soft. It was much more predictable when loosing traction. Even did some half-intentional drifts there :D I prefer not using TC but that is the other option of course:crazy:

Your audio is always a little quite @Sick Cylinder. It can sometimes be hard to hear you above the cars and any other chat.
You can increase it a notch or two via the PS3 options audio devices setting. It might help everyone hear your instructions better.

Your audio also cuts out intermittently, so sometimes I (and others) don't hear your complete sentence. Which again doesn't help with instructions. Not sure if it's because you are using a wireless headset with a auto mute feature.
Remember Norman Collier - it's a bit like that. ;)

Of course you wouldn't know this because you're not listening to it. :P

... off that well oiled grass
Yeah, I'm sure they grease it before we start. :eek:

@TonyLomas - You should have said that the backward driving was intended for the pictures. :D

Apologies to one and all for lack of volume - I will experiment with the settings as IfAndOr suggests. I am using a wireless headset. I have got a wired one which has a better microphone, but I find the cable inconvenient with a steering wheel.

I hope you like this poster made from a couple of shots of yesterdays BSCC race. Squint slightly - it could almost be the early 1960's with Gentleman Jack Sears, Jim Clark and Sir Gawaine Baillie at the front of the field in their 7 litre Ford Galaxies, while in the bottom picture Sir John Whitmore powers through the field in his Mini!

Big Thanks are due to Danielsspel who told me that the removal of bumpers (fenders) on the Shelby Cobra 427 and Chromeline Cobra might be stopping people from entering the room - he was spot on - I tested that this morning and the bumper removal counts as an aerodynamic aid hence preventing the car from entering a tuning prohibited room.

Simple solution - pay 1,000 credits to have bumpers re-fitted for the Ford Ferrari Wars - I will alter page 1 of the thread accordingly.

I can never make out what anyone says. I hear chatter, but it's too buried in the mix to actually understand the words. I keep my music off.
