FINAL ENTRY

SuzukaCircuit_5small.jpg

GTR'S Ring by ZEROX

Eligibilty question:

  • Is the circuit one of the eligible tracks as said by Slipz in first page? (for ZeroX)
  • Is the Stealth eligible? (for Slipz ;))

:)

Oh damn I didn't know :( We should be able to though, since it is the ADVANCED competition.

You could easily remove those power lines by adjusting the levels/brightness of just the sky area. I would say your entry without the powerlines would be just fine. But I guess that would be up to slip.

I also have a question for you Slip. Would you allow us to add a reflection to the ground? I think not, but I can't remember if we allowed that back int he GT4 comps. I want to say we did, but I can't remember. It would be adding something that's not there originally, but was just wondering. I have ideas in my head.

Yeah I brightened it up a bit to make it more like they were just misty because of the rain.

Didn't Slip once say that you can remove small things from the image such as the ducting in the tunnel on SSR7? I don't actually know what's been removed here but it doesn't seem to have been anything big.

It's kind of a gray area - I see three different versions of that Xanavi duel, and removing the entire tower seems a bit drastic. When the issue of removing items was first brought up a few weeks ago, it was about removing the pillars of from the Eiger tunnel. This is even more drastic. Yes, this is the Advanced Competition - but it's supposed to be about the photography aspect first. Image enhancement over image manipulation, I suppose would sum it up... but then again, there's the ability to upsize rims (a feature bizarrely still missing from the series in-game), and modify/remove license plates (another of Kaz' promised features). I'm of the same opinion as 440 - minimizing the powerlines through brightness/contrast should work just fine, but removing the entire tower is taking it a step too far, at least in my opinion. Another talk in the Discussion thread, maybe? :)

440 - I'm sure at some point it did pop up in the GT4 days - near the end there, the level of editing was huge, and while impressive, most of us wanted to tone it down a bit for GT5. Since the game looks so much better now anyways without editing (well, the Premiums do), we wanted to find a nice balance of rules that make Photoshop a definite positive tool, but not require mastery to win each week (as TOUGEFC's first week win shows). It's tough finding the right balance between approachability for novice users, and creativity for PS-heads :)
