Further explanation of the theme, which is provided by ceiling_fan:

"Get your minds out of the gutter! This week is upping the ante over last week's; CF wants to
see a trio of cars battling it out for glory. While there may be more than 3 cars in the shot
(say, those backmarkers off in the distance), the focus should be on 3 cars and 3 cars only.

CARS: Any
LOCATIONS: Any
PHOTO TRAVEL: Hell naw!
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: Focus of image must have 3 cars racing closely

  • No full-size images posted in thread; your entry will be ignored.
[*]One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
[*]Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
[*]You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
[*]When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
[*]Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
[*]A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
[*]Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 20. Every fourth
week, the poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", and the best from each
poll faces off in a final 48 hour poll.
[*]Winners cannot enter in their own theme!

What you may not do to a photo:
  • Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game.
  • Add shapes or objects from outside of GT5, signatures excepted.
  • Remove items from shot (scenery, other cars).
  • Use more than 1 image (HDR, photo-stitching, multi-exposure).
  • "Creative cropping". The main "image" must be four-sided, with 90-degree, upright corners.
  • Selective car colour changing: masking different parts to create racing stripes or similar.

What you may do to a photo:
  • Crop and/or resize an image.
  • Adjust the level or curve values.
  • Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
  • Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
  • Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
  • Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
  • Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
  • Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
  • Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
  • Scale or enlarge rims.
  • Remove or modify license plates.
  • Remove the GT watermark.
  • Add a personal signature.
  • Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
  • Add a vignette effect.

This Week's News:

There was some back-channel discussion between the hosts this week about "Creative Cropping". Specifically, aidan8500's entry in the polls last week. It's an odd gray area (no pun intended), so a small line has been added to the rules to make it clearer; those sorts of images won't be allowed now, as all images must retain their box-like dimensions. An over-exposed sky can give a similar effect of course, but cutting parts of the side of the image off, but going around the car, essentially runs into the "removing objects" rule. So hope that's clear!

Also, I've added two small bullet points in both the Do and Do Not sections about something that popped up a lot back in GT4; colour changes of car bodies. I'll have examples up for most rules over time; basically, masking part of the body to do a colour change, effectively creating racing stripes or your own livery, is too far for 2.0. However, changing the body colour fully is allowed. Actually, for examples of both the Do Not and Do, respectively, I have an NA Miata with a racing stripe (disallowed) and a blue Viper GTS (allowable) in my gallery update. Essentially, the Do rule allows for things like the Viper, or other cars with stripes that can be lost in the paint shop, to be done up properly if the user so desires.

Phew! Go forth, people!

(EDIT) There we go, examples linked!

This should be a particular challenge as PSN is down. You cannot tell the computer what line you want it to take or to not hit your car. Should be fun.

Heh, it was a backwards situation, actually; doing that gallery update reminded me about GT4 colour-changes, and I wanted it stated more clearly in the rules for others to know. The Miata was done after and I realized it needed to be clarified about what it shouldn't be used for as well :P

Poll collation is happening right now, both PMC and 2.0 will be up in 10 minutes tops 👍

^ Very nice!

Just a heads up, Slip, it says that the theme was provided by Abraxas, bu it says that Ceiling_Fan wants to see the theme. I hope I make sense

Question: How close together do they have to be? Exclusively side-by-side, or tandem? Ok, that's two questions,

Another multiple car one :( I may do an alright job in taking the pictures but I really dislike capturing different cars in the picture other then the one I am focusing.
I guess I need to take some new pictures :dopey:

Might give this a miss, I detest multi car shots as it is and trying to get 3 in the right places without being in control of them all is near impossible. 👎

The battle between AI's can actually be pretty fierce - I got some good ones from the recent Super GT theme...

A bit confused. I can still use racing stripe paint items on other cars right?

Final Entry

Might end up changing it, might not. :D

Also thinking of skipping this week's 2.0
Going to wait a few days and see what you guys can come up with and based on that I will enter, or not enter...

Always enter. You never know, you might get that poster you always wanted to hang on the wall.

And a range of computer wallpapers.

Final Entry

"I started racing go-karts. And I love karts. It's the most breath taking sport in the world. More than F1, indeed, I used to like it most." Ayrton Senna

Is it just me, or is photobucket cutting your pictures in half every time you resize?
