that's not a real website (at least I don't think it is)

Just a thought (and I'm not even sure this is the place to put my thought), but since these are a little more complex than the Photomode and 2.0 competitions, has any thought been given to running these on a two-week timetable to encourage both a higher quantity (and, presumably, quality) of entries? I know that I'd have loved to enter this competition, but I just ran out of time.

Anyway, just a thought - ignore if you'd like. :)

Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with it. :)

Gtuned - Well I saw your entry going italian and it's pretty decent and I considered not doing a Italian themed one but I had already that in mind before I saw yours and still wanted to do it.

sheferd - That's really good, I like it alot. Very new/retro design in appeal. Your last few entires in this comp have been great, keep up the good work.

sixtoes - That's not a bad idea, I know I struggle for time and pretty much only have some time on the weekend to put something together, but 2 weeks would make it easier to put more time into the entry.

Fixed that for you.
Paint.net just isn't enough to get a place in any of these competitions. Since the begining, i've been coming in last consistently because i just can't do anything near as good.

I reckon you're too hard on yourself mate. To be honest I think your entry on this round is not last of the bunch to me anyway.

Yeah I'm sure paint.net is quite limiting which would suck but I say good for you for having a go. With more practical application of doing things like this you can only get better.

Do not give up ! I won the competition last week without using Photoshop at all ! I used the free version of Photofiltre and it's pretty low software. I also have no skills when it comes to photo manipulation and I still have a lot to learn compared to guys like Mog, Rev or Sheferd to name a few. I guess i just had the perfect idea at the right time and a lot of patience to pull my entry (I litterally spent countless hours on it, often going one pixel at a time).
As GPR said, you're too hard on yourself. Don't forget it's just a game and your time will come eventually. Don't give up, the more the merrier !

Mmmm, that's quite a good idea. If nobody has any objections (and sorry Sheferd, you'll have to wait another week before your theme is on!), I might let this comp run on for another week. I've been reluctant to have fortnight-long themes till now because whilst the extra time is good, if you leave it too long then people forget about it. But as a bunch of you are saying how you'd like some extra time, and this is a theme in which some extra time could really go towards improving the entries which come on, I think another week can't hurt. I'll update the deadlines in the first post.

Haha, no worries Rev I was actually just thinking the same thing. It would give me more time too. I love this comp but feel I need to rush entries as I only really have enough time on weekends to make entries but splitting the work over 2 weekends would give me more time for (hopefully) better entries, aswell as for others also.

WOOHOO!! Now I can enter and lose all three contests! :)

Well if you started up a HDR comp I'm pretty sure you'd win almost every week.

Hmm, having 2 weeks for this could give me time perhaps enter the 2.0 comp. Maybe.

Not a bad idea! Actually, if I ever do manage to win a 2.0, I'll see if they'll let me break the rules and judge an HDR contest (without my entry, of course)... but that's an awfully big "if'!

Now, to work on an idea for this contest... it just wouldn't do to be the one who asked for an extension, only to fail to provide a submission.

I would like to revoke my previous entry and enter a new one, for two reasons: I took a look at the internet after my first entry, because I didnt had an idea of what a meetup poster would look like and what information it should provide. The second reason is that I learned a little more about PS in those couple of days and I like this one better:

Sorry for German, but I felt like this one had to be in German and where else to meet then in Wolfsburg :D

/edit: Lol, just felt like picking a date in may, not knowing the date Aidan8500 put on his flyer, seems like it's gonna be a big week of carmeetings then :P. 16th of may is on a monday though. I even checked the website of VFL Wolfsburg if they really had an away match that weekend I picked :P

this is great! this should definitely win this competition! good job! 👍

I hope some more entries come in soon. I really thought having the extra week would at least bring up a few more.

Well, the extra week has at least brought one more… it took me awhile, but here's what I was able to come up with. Of course, I'm a photographer, not a graphic designer, but I hope I managed to come up with something unique. Since the rules dictated only that the cars needed to be 1989 or earlier, I decided to create a poster for an event that was in the past as well. Ok, it's a fictional event - but an expo in 1969 celebrating the first 15 years of the Corvette seemed like an interesting idea to play around with. So here is my...

That is just amazing.

And it's only 3$ to enter. :)

Thanks, Fishy! Using an online inflation calendar, $3 back in 1969 would be equivalent to an $18 entry fee today. :)

Oh and before anyone asks, I did confirm that May 31 in 1969 was a Saturday... the Saturday of a holiday weekend, so it's a perfect fit.

Nice entry sixtoes, glad to see somebody entering in the second week! Hoping to get a couple more entries before comp closes in a day or two!

Fabulous entry. How did you create the rainbow floor/banner? Using a lot of guides?

It's a secret :P

Nah it's not as hard as you may think.

Just created a straight "rainbow" copied and merged the layers and then used the lines in the road to skew the rainbow to. et viola!

Then used another copy of the straight one made it smaller and sent it 'backwards' then joined them both with some eye/guess work with the pen tool.

Think I used 2 guide lines just to keep the pen anchor points aligned.

Glad you like it, Thanks 👍

Fairly disappointing number of entries this week, even with the extension :(
Ah well, poll will be up shortly! Hoping for more entries next week!
