Not buying F1 2012. I got 2010 and it was okay, but deeply flawed, and F1 2011 PC version doesn't work with my Logitech DFGT. I have to turn off Force Feedback to make it playable, but without FFB, the experience is just terrible. Codemasters is a very lazy developer, so i'm done with their games.

Dirt 3 didn't help either, the b.s. they fed people about having more rally racing, and bringing back what made Colin Mcrae Rally fun, was a load of crap.

How good is rfactor, is there a career mode or is it just quick races.

It's like the old F1 games - you start a season with a specific driver and go ahead, nothing like a career mode in the F1 1994 mod.

Not really a year, when you take in to account support of the previous game and the submission/distribution process at the end.

I enjoyed 2010, didn't bother with 2011, as I'm not that in to the games to get them every year, but they're good and the AI is a fine effort.

Pretty much yeah but I guess they had some people workin on 2012 when 2011 came out. :)

Codemasters have "unveiled" F1 2012.

Eurogamer
Though few details were announced on the game, Codemasters used the occasion to unveil one of F1 2012's Young Driver Test mode, a feature inspired by the sport's real-life testing programme for up and coming talent. It'll offer a tutorial through a young driver's eyes, going step-by-step through driving a car before players get the chance to try out for a seat in one of the teams.

I've seen this idea pop up in wishlists every now and then.

Yes! I doubt that they'll go as far as GP2, but still :) This could also mean pre-season testing at Catalunya. I doubt that they would bother modeling the other tracks (Jerez, Mugelo), but still!

Can't wait for this game :)

Well GP2 would require another licence. As for pre season testing, who would want it? It would be boring.

"For the next five laps, please do constant speed checks at 80mph down the start/finish straight". And F1 hasn't tested at Mugello for a good few years now.

I think their testing at Mugello this year mid-season, and that's where HRT will try out a KERS system.

I think it would be good to have pre-season testing, but that's just me. Not all of their testing is a shakedown, they do lots of race simulations. In career mode I think this would be quite fun. Just a difference of opinion I guess.

And they haven't said the specific details of the liscense, so I wouldn't be too suprised if they had GP2 (or an unofficial Formula 007)

Ah. Had forgotten about that. In the event that they do include pre-season testing, they'd also have to model the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

How often do you do full practice sessions in F12011? Pre-season testing would get old. Fast.

They have the licence for F1. GP2 is not part and parcel of F1. On the official forums, a member of the development team even stated that they didn't have the GP2 licence. Though that was prior to the release of F12011. Don't hold your breath for junior formulae.

They might just do the Catalunya test, so that they wouldn't have to design anymore tracks. I often do full practice sessions in GP mode, but only when working on setup or learning the track without driving line. I'll be doing it in my next career season since I'll be doing 100% races instead of 20%.

And I doubt that they got the GP2 licsense, but it's possible. If not, Formula 007 would be good, only then you'd have to get the liscense from Bond, James Bond.

They might not have the licence, but that doesn't mean they can't get it.

That said, I don't think people would respond to the junior series. People buy Formula 1 games to drive Formula 1 cars. They won't want to be forced to play for twelve hours in the junior tiers before they can get to the content they actually purcahsed.

I'd say it's far more likely that Codemasters will experiment with DLC, probably with a "classic mode", or more of the time-based challenges that were in F1 2011.

I wouldn't mind a pre-season test, but like F1 fan said, it would get old fast. On the other hand, I'd love a classic mode.

I don't find it boring, career gets a bit repetitive but grand prix mode leads to endless hours of fun.

But...wouldn't that mean they'd have to add girlfriends, parties and all the other fancy stuff, too? :P

Bonus points for something called "007 extra stage" once you're driving for McLaren after having spent a season or two with Ferrari.

I like the Codies F1 games, but I really want them to either relinquish the BTCC licence or make use of it. I believe they still have it.

You sure they still have the license to the BTCC? I googled it and this article seems to imply that they don't.

Either way unless some company exclusively holds the license, I doubt that Alan Gow would have high demands. Shouldn't be too hard for someone to pick it up.

Hmm, interesting. I was under the impression that they held the licence but didn't do anything with it due to lack of interest.

A supertouring game on 7th gen would be amazing. But any new, official BTCC game would be welcome. Codies made 3 BTCC games in 1997, 1998 and 2001. It's been a long time since.

To be fair, I'd rather see them make a decent stab at Aussie V8's or Indycar first. Those are two series that are sorely lacking in the game dept.

I know that some people wouldn't want to go through a whole GP2 career to get to F1 status in the game, but I would personally relish it! Not that I would actually have the time to do it. Spring Break starts this weekend though - staying up all night for the Malaysian GP and finally getting a chance to play some F1 2011 again.

They could make it an option to do the GP2 career. So when you first enter career mode it asks you "Do you wish to do a GP2 career".

Very true. I'd welcome a game based on IndyCar, BTCC or the V8's to be honest.

For f1 2012 I hope they bring back the pit lane speed limiter and pit call buttons. Also improve the fuel mix buttons. I have the f1 wheel with a lot of buttons that aren't being used by the game on 2011.
