So, it's Texas vs. USC. USC looking to win their second straight national championship (after having shared one with LSU), Texas looking to win for the first time in a long time.

I think Texas will win this one. What do you guys think?

I think USC will win. They've been there before, and the game is in their backyard. Should be a good game--I'm looking forward to it 👍

Well I'm hoping that Texas will win, but USC looks pretty unstoppable at the moment. Unless the Longhorns can figure out a way to contain Reggie Bush, they're going to have a tough time winning.

I am looking forward to seeing USC playing a tough opponent though, the last worthy team that they played was Notre Dame, and they had quite a scare in that one.

Texas will not have an answer for Reggie Bush. He'll run all over the horns D. That being said, USC will not have an answer for Vince Young... and Jamaal Charles should get some good yardage as well.

My guess is that the horns will be super psyched for this game and play their hearts out. USC on the otherhand, with players who have established themselves and have little to lose at this point, will not be nearly as psyched. I think that's the difference in this game.

I'm definitely going to tape this one. It has the potential to be an all-time classic.

But I don't see the 'Horns winning. I think the Trojan defense will contain Vince fairly well, and the 'Horns will not be able to stop the Trojan offense.

Lmao, did you see the Cheif Justice lady flip the coin? What a fouler.

Next time, they need to invite someone who knows how to make a coin flip more than once.

The longhorns seem to be pwning it up in this first drive.

EDIT: OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT PUNT FUMBLE? LAMEEEEEEE.

OH MY GOD, VINCE YOUNG WAS DOWN! HE WAS DOWN!

The slow motion camera showed that his knees were on the ground already when he threw the ball...The refs didn't even review it before calling it a touchdown.

the greatest football game in the history of the world... if you missed this one, you missed life and you should start all over.

Definitely! An unbelievable game!

It actually lived up to the hype. Imagine that!

Definitely.

But, the media really sucks. Why weren't they all over Vince Young for the heisman ceremony? Now that he won, the media is just eating him up.

Reggie Bush is a Hype-back. Vince Young is pure SUBSTANCE.

no joke man. vince young is really fun to watch and he never ceases to amaze me.

Vince Young is a robot. There is no other explanation for what happened.

Too bad VY's antics won't fly in the NFL. I'd say Michael Vick was better, and he has been essentially nullified by NFL defenses the last couple of years (with a few injuries along the way).

I think he had a perfect game. He broke every tackle that came his way. He's like michael vick spliced with donovan mcnabb's toughness, but 6 times better. He just strides. He moved like 30 yards in 6 steps...wtf is that. That's crazy. He's super tall, too, so it'll be hard to swat at his passes, and he's not a pidgeon toed wussy like Lineart.

True. NFL defenses will put a stop to his running, but who cares? College ball has never seen his like, and he'll always be remembered as the greatest QB of all time in this theater.

Then he'd better win the Heisman next year, or he won't be remembered at all.

I predict that he's not coming back next year. Not after this. It's obvious that he should have won the Heisman at this point, so I don't think he needs to come back just to prove it again.

What an amazing game. I'm still freaking out about it, that was SO AWESOME!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire night. Vince was great, the announcers were calling him the greatest college football quarterback of all time. But Vince was up against a pretty bad defense all night. It was Texas's defense that had to play against the legendary Trojan offense all night. The way they destoryed reggie bush... the way they picked Leinart and tattooed every receiver just as they got to the ball, the way they stopped USC - what was supposed to be the best offense college footbal of all time - from breaking any really huge USC type plays... phenomonal!

I am in awe of my longhorn defensive coordinator. I'm in awe of our offensive line that gave vince hours to sit in each pocket. I'm in awe of our receivers who were open all night. I'm NOT in awe of our kicker... the man needs work.

What a game! Go Longhorns!!!

I'm sure glad I taped it. I also taped ESPN's excellent 10-minute highlight reel that they ran several times.

If a DVD of the game is offered, I'll get it. It was that incredible. I sure can't think of a better game, collegiate or pro, that I've ever seen. What more could you ask for?

Like Pete Carroll said, if their streak had to end, it was good that Texas was the team that did it. There's no shame in losing to that squad.

You would think that a coach/defensive coordinator like Pete Carroll would be able to make an adjustment to contain him. I don't think he figured out that everytime Vince Young took more than 3 steps out of the pocket, he was going to keep the ball and run. Yet on every single run, even in the second half, USC seemed to be surprised and way out of position. Furthermore, USC wouldn't have been able to tackle Pop Warner kids last night. Shameful defensive display.

:nervous: They nailed it.

Stupid great games! If it had been a blowout or just plain boring I could have gone to bed and feel rested today, but nooooo. It just had to be possibly the best game I have seen in my lifetime. Instead of sleeping I was up until 12:30 unable to turn off the TV.

Now I have to go to bed at 9:00 tonight just so that I can recover from last night.

For all my moaning I loved the game, I am just dead tired today. When you have to get up at 5:00 a good night game is killer. Usually I am only like this on the occasional Tuesday morning.

^Then move to the west coast ;) Sports never keep us up too late (except a 5OT NHL playoff game, but how often does that happen?)

Good summary of what Young did:

http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/5222774

Facing Young is every defensive player's worst nightmare. How do you commit against him when you have no idea of what he might do from one instant to the next? As long as he's behind the line of scrimmage, anything is possible.

He paralyzes defenses. He mesmerizes them. We'll see what the NFL defenses come up with against him, and whether or not his NFL offensive coaches can design an attack that makes the most of his ability.

If it truly bothered me I wouldn't stay up. It was definitely worth it.

My dad took a trip to Hawaii and complained about getting up at 6AM to catch football on Sundays. I am trying to determine whether being up late on a Monday night or up early on a Sunday is better. I think up late on Monday night because at least I can turn it off if it is a bad game. Once you are up on Sunday you don't know whether it will be a good game or not.

Besides, I am a basketball country guy and the west coast wouldn't satisfy my need the way the east does.
