I'm just saying that sometimes you get extra points from mission. I didn't mean to spin on purpose.

I was just wondering if it would significantly help me to do some donuts on the spot if it's worth a fair chunk of FP. That saves me going through ranked races which give me something like 500FP because there's not enough people racing. Or it would if it's worth alot of FP, I'd still have to do some races as well of course but it might save some time at least.

Ok I misunderstand you, I guess. :D

Well yeah, missions are like 2.500 points. On start that's enough even for whole one level.

I may have to consider that as I'm not getting online much and this could be mysecond 100% and platinum in the past month or so, and funnily enough both on Codemasters games.

Nah, if you can keep the car on the track you can drive yourself pretty fast to the level 30. It's not really that big of a deal, couple of evenings I think. In the way you'll get some of the challenges automatically, but I don't think it's wort it to try to "hunt" them on purpose.

There was a patch at the end of november or start of December that didn't appear to change a lot. Maybe he hasn't played it for a while before now.

Yeah sorry, I was referring to the late November patch. Hadn't played for a number of weeks before that. I couldn't find anything on internet stating what the patch did.

Maybe it was just some tweaks to the track boundaries (to invalidate more of the times) or something along those lines, something we wouldn't notice without really looking for.

Latest patch I have on my Dirt2 is v1.01 that came out in October. This is what it was for.

The main fixes (although other minor fixes are included) in this game update are listed below:

- Fixed the ‘Infinite load bug' which could cause a hang on the loading screen should the client have connection issues with the DiRTNET Server.

- Fixed a potential crash triggered by ejecting the disc at a specific point during the initial game load.

- Fixed an issue which, in some cases, causes water audio sound effects to continue playing once the player quits a race.

- Minor livery changes for licensing reasons.

- Changing the replay interface so that the play/pause button shows play when paused and pause whilst playing

- Increased the ghost download timeout to 60 seconds and added a button which allows the download to be skipped.

- In Time Trial mode, the player can now download an opponent ghost from a Leaderboard that they have not yet posted a time to

- Added a toggle to the advanced settings of Jam Sessions which enables/disables auto team balancing

- Implemented a system which reserves slots for party members when the party host joins an online session

- Selecting "View Replay" from the post-race results screen no longer restarts the replay, it now continues from its current point

oops sorry >.< thanks glad there wont be any GRID style floaty crap

The demo has been on PSN Store for ages. I was so surprised when I tried the demo, because as you say DiRT 1 and GRiD were horrible floaty crap. I bought it as much out of shock that it was so controllable as any other reason 👍

Is it worth buying new rally cars? I am a bit perplex over the starting cars having the best specs overall? top speed, acceleration, handling combined...

I sure like this subaru a lot better then the car that was in the demo...

The relative stats change for various cars as you get the ability to upgrade them to higher spec level for the higher ranked events. But basically cash isn't a problem so start out with buying a car per category to be able to race, then just buy as many as you like. And of course rally cars get trailblazer and rallycross packs to attach to them, and that also gives you different relative stats.

I ended up using the older model Subaru for most trailblazer events and the newer model Subaru for most rally and rallycross events in all 3 categories.

The stats do increase as you add the upgrades.

Also as regards buying the new cars, the most popular Rally cars are often the 350Z and Evo X, with plenty of new WRXs as well. That said the new WRX is actually quite slow due to understeer whereas the Evo X is very stable and easy to drive whilst not being to slow. The Z I'm not to familiar with but people seem to make it fast in ranked games at least. Other then that, the Escort is fast, fun, but difficult for some.

Trailblazer on the other hand, the Solstice is what I'd recommend as it is probably the best outside of the boring Dallenbach.

This game has been getting a lot of racer of the year awards from mainstream sites! http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6311, plus I think Gamespot and maybe IGN (can't recall exactly) plus others. Do you think this attention is warranted or was something else overlooked in this category???

From the demo version I can say it hits a comfortable zone for me between arcade fun and realism. The damage is under-done (as in your car stays too strong when beat up), this is the one thing I would change but damage is still a factor at least so I cannot complain too much. It's not so much a sim of traditional rally as much as it is a sim of the modern X games / whatever that Redbull sponsored race series is called style of over the top dirt racing. It took me some time to warm up to that idea but now I kind of find it appealing. I'll probably pick up the first one later if I desire the really authentic styles.

Anyway the positive reviews and the crazy fun my brother (not even really a gamer but a way bigger car freak than me) and I had with the demo means that I'm picking Dirt II up tomorrow to go with my new DFGT, the demo works awesome with it. Does anybody online race here/do we have any events ever? We should! Add tyl0r_r on psn if you'd ever like to race me or pm me or whatever, it'd be fun!!

PS3 version of the game seems soldout on most dutch shopping sites and stores. :/ hopefully an platinum edition will come soon since 60euro's is a bit much.

I got my copy today at Toys XL at The Wall (Utrecht). They have plenty of copies left too. 👍

About the game: How on earth did I miss this one, it's brilliant! :)

Yes, presentation is 'a bit' over the top, but the game itself is rock solid. 👍 I love the different game types, but for some reason I like classic rally the most. :)

Same as me, the Rally cars are my favourite, I like racing unranked with collision online so you get the full staggered start and sometimes catch (or get caught by) other drivers which makes things interesting, some people are idiots and try to ram you, but it's a nice dynamic element.

The funny thing is, I remember playing the demo when it came out, and I thought the steering was horrible. But now I'm playing the full game, I think the steering is excellent. :)
