Can you believe this? This is why we hate them, they talk crap and don't back it up with exceptional play. They think they are NFL superstars when they beat us, a Conference USA team. That just sets me off. Go Pirates! Please read that by the way, the comments are awesome.

CAM, I do have great respect for East Carolina. If I'm thinking of former C-USA schools to join BCS conferences, schools like Cincinnati and South Florida come to mind. The basketball ranks saw C-USA schools like Marquette and DePaul join the Big East. I remembered seeing East Carolina pull some upsets against better teams. I think I remember a few years ago when they stunned... was it West Virginia? ECU wants to emerge, and I think they will. Then too, your Pirates and my Cougars (including the Rice Owls) all play in the same conference. Heck, I even imagine us joining the Big XII. One other site expressed that the Mountain West would be a suitable future conference for us in the future. Long story short- East Carolina is a very good school. If Cincinnati and South Florida could go from C-USA to BCS conferences, what makes ECU any different?

Hope you all are enjoying the games so far!

Thank you JohnBM. Did any of you watch the game last night? If you did, you would have seen the absolute worst showing of officiating that I have witnessed in my entire life. I'm not saying ECU played well, but those referees chose not to throw flags on multiple blatant holding/pass interference situations that if they actually do their job and throw the flag, ECU has the ball with one minute to go down 28-24, not 35-20. I just cannot believe how obvious it was that they did not care. On a 60 yard touchdown pass for them, our defensive lineman had a wide open lane for an easy sack to save the touchdown and cause a 4th and 11, but the Carolina lineman held and RIPPED his gosh darn jersey and they didn't throw the flag. Despicable. Thankfully there were no small children around my area, because I threw quite a few choice words at that son of a gun, and if you follow my posts, you know that's not my style. At least Wisconsin won. This is the worst taste in my mouth in a while. I don't even want to discuss other missed calls. Go Pirates, I still love you guys. If you stop turning the ball over and get some referees that aren't on the payroll for the other side, you're golden.

"I’ve never been to Greenville. Neither have a lot of the state’s top high school football recruits."

He should just stop there. First of all if you have never been to ECU how could you possibly talk trash about it. Second of all,the state of North Carolina isnt exactly a football recruiting powerhouse and the times they do have a great player come out of a NC high school they go out of state because there isnt a good enough program in state. Lastly, what is his standards for a great program, because Im almost certain that North Carolina is not a great football program, basketball yes, football no, their football is one of the most inconsistent programs that Ive seen. And why is he making a big deal out of beating ECU, a small C-USA team, if NC is as good as hes implying them to be then they should blow them out every year, yet they dont. Advice I have for this guy, dont talk trash if you cant back it up.

Well said, cullenand. I just don't understand his point of thinking. I don't remember the last time Carolina beat Virginia Tech. ECU? 2008. What about the last time Carolina beat a top 10 team? Once again, out of the realm of recent memory. But, ECU? 2008, and we beat the crap out of said top 10 team. Carolina fans are generally ignorant. The good ones I meet are a treat to be around, but they are few and far between. They just don't know their football.

I've never understood why North Carolina is often called as just "Carolina." I mean, there's a North Carolina and a South Carolina. I don't hear people just say Dakota to mean North or South Dakota. Or even Virginia and West Virginia.

I was mostly watching the Nebraska at Wisconsin game. I did, however, switch over to the UNC at ECU game. Both games were ugly on the scoreboard. Wisconsin just took Nebraska's lunch money and pounded them. Who did Lee Corso pick to win? If you saw College GameDay- he picked Nebraska. Beat down city up in Madison, WI. Up next for Nebraska- hosting Ohio State.

As for the UNC/ECU game, that was ugly. I usually see North Carolina as a basketball state much like how Texas is usually a football state. I didn't see all of the blown calls and stuff, but I had to imagine you were beyond furious, CAM. Up next... your Pirates are at my Houston Cougars this coming Saturday. ECU should still be a solid contender in the C-USA East, unless Central Florida has something to say about it.

At least we came back somewhat. We were down 21-0 and got it to 28-10 and had an obvious pass interference call on an easy touchdown pass that wasn't called (what a surprise ) and had to settle for a field goal. That was a turning point. A few more almost defensive stops and blown holding calls later, we lost. We had a shot, even after not showing up the first quarter, which is amazing in itself.

You know, if he's not up for Heisman discussion, he should be. Who am I talking about? RG3 for Baylor. I really like this guy and what he's been able to do under center for the Baylor Bears. Many say this year's QB class is pretty stacked, and you'd be hard-pressed to find better talent.

One of many games coming up this weekend is the good old Red River Rivalry (Oklahoma vs. Texas). Two unbeatens will result in one unbeaten after Saturday with this game. I'll do the rundown of some of many upcoming games in a future post. Still, plenty of reason to get excited for another weekend of college football.

Lots of people, including a lot of the ESPN staff, are in love with Griffin. They did a "The Most Interesting Man in College Football" sketch about him, and it was pretty awesome.

I'm not going to do a severely detailed list of upcoming games this time around. Regardless, these are some of many upcoming games this weekend:

• California at #9 Oregon (THURSDAY NIGHT)
• Western Kentucky at Middle Tennessee State (THURSDAY NIGHT)
• #5 Boise State at Fresno State (FRIDAY NIGHT)
• Texas vs. Oklahoma
• #17 Florida at #1 LSU
• #12 Michigan at Northwestern
• #15 Auburn at #10 Arkansas
• East Carolina at Houston
• #24 Texas A&M at Texas Tech
• Colorado at #7 Stanford
• Ohio State at #14 Nebraska

Any other games you all are looking forward to? Whatever games you'll be watching (or will try to), enjoy this weekend's action! On a different note, I'm pretty shocked Missouri didn't get Big Ten consideration. They may likely join the SEC. Conference realignment getting crazier than ever.

TCU is invited to the Big 12, and I would take that over the Big East if I were them. That leaves 4 spots in the Big East. ECU absolutely has to get in if they want 8 teams.

Big day tomorrow. First, I need to cheer the Broncos of Boise to a trouncing of Fresno, style points are always helpful :). I finally get a day to watch other games, and then ECU comes on at 7. We really need to win, 1-4 is just ugly. We have a distinct possibility of going 1-5, with Navy coming up in Annapolis next weekend. Go Pirates!

Figured I shouldn't make a new post till gametime. Boise gave Fresno a whippin', just as I wanted, and Carolina is playing terribly :D. If ECU has 3 or fewer turnovers, I think we have a shot. We just need to improve.

If anyone wants to give my Pirates a glance during their normal Saturday channel-flipping, check us out on CBS College Sports Net at 7 PM ET, same channel as last week :). Should be an awesome game, provided we decide to show up unlike last week. If you want to cheer for ECU, cringe everytime Danny Webster (#33) gets the ball and tell him to get out of bounds promptly or just fall down to avoid his chronic fumbling. If enough of us tell the TV, he may hear us . Go Pirates!

I know I'll always be an ECU fan, it just sucks sometimes. I know they will lose sometimes, but I'm just sick and tired of watching them get the living crap beat out of them. They need to show up to games.

Finally! It's halftime! Houston can't score anymore points for a few minutes. In the words of Ricky Bobby's mom from Talledega Nights, were getting our back porches painted red.

Well hey, look at this! Our quarterback of the future, Rio Johnson, is looking great. First smile the Pirates have given me in two weeks :). Great football Rio!

Fsu sucks lol. Lost to Wake Forest.

It's because you guys played that scrawny Trickett kid for a almost a half when Manuel could obviously play. I wad left scratching my head . At least its not 49-3.

It is not convenient for me to say this, but I'm not really watching the night games because I'm watching the Bathurst 1000. However, I saw Texas get whacked by Oklahoma. When I first checked in, it was Oklahoma ahead 3-0 early. This was terribly ugly. Talk about not showing up...

In the FCS ranks, Sam Houston State whacked Stephen F. Austin 45-10 to win the Battle of the Piney Woods rivalry. That game was here in Houston at Reliant Stadium.

Congratulations to all winners, and tough luck to all the losers for all games played this weekend.

Congrats to your Cougars, JohnBM. They, as Bobby Boucher would say, opened up a can o' whoop-ass on us . I'm thinking Dominique Davis has acquired the CAM avatar curse. I had Hope Solo as my avatar, USA chokes in the World Cup final. Davis, ECU lays an egg all year. Heck, I had Harry Potter as my avatar for a month and they aren't making movies anymore :dopey:.

Gators games are tough to watch lately, for they require a bit more alcohol to enjoy.

Okay, that excessive-celebration call when LSU's fake kick became a TD was nonsense; hardly what I would call "egregious". Even if it was an attempt to demoralize UF, hey...it's just a game; it's not as if the score was 63-7 at that point. Still, a very questionable call by the refs, and a new rule that is going to be used with a heavy dose of arbitration. It should only be used when it becomes a Personal Foul (which coincidently, has its own penalty), but remember that they're college players in an amateur game...for fun.

Clint Trickett, cousin to Clit Flickitt.

They're not playing Manuel because the season is done and Manuel will be gone next season if I'm not mistaken.

And he's just a punter, they should've given him the touchdown. That's a once in a lifetime play for a punter, let it slide.

I said the same thing. Also, I've seen some skill players who will score pantloads of TDs who have done worse things and not gotten called. That punter will always have a touchdown in my book.

Can I join you in a bit of alcohol ?

OSU Buckeyes games are getting hard to watch as well. :irked:

Damn near got a shutout thrown in our face by Michigan St. 2 weeks ago. Then I saw 2 different O.S.U. games played Saturday. The first half the Bucks were handing it to #14 Nebraska ... the 2nd half, well, uh, I don't think we came out of the locker room. We let that one get away. This coming weekend the Buckeye's head north to Camp Randall (Madison Wi.) to face the Badgers. Yeah, we'll get our ass handed to us on a silver platter this weekend.

Good luck to all of your teams this upcoming weekend.

You know, credit Nebraska for coming from behind and pulling out the win in their most recent game. They will no doubt get more wins in the Big Ten. None of this is a knock against Ohio State. I thought this was going to be an extended beat down after Nebraska's trip to Wisconsin.

My Houston Cougars just got up to #25 in the nation after their 56-3 win over East Carolina (sorry, CAM). I think (and I think) LSU and Oklahoma are #1 and #2 respectively in the most recent polls. Most of the current Top 25 are all Texas schools with Baylor and Texas among the bottom 25.

You're fine, JohnBM, enjoy the ranking. Greenville was a great place when we were getting ranked high a couple years back.

Greenville news just reported that the Big East has confirmed they want to expand to 12 schools. If they pick 6 schools over ECU, I may bust a vessel. I hope they get in so very badly.

This is why the O.S.U Buckeyes lost to Nebraska.

Hey, I may as well laugh about it and get some fun out of this season.

The Ducks and the Sun Devils are playing this weekend - should be a solid PAC-12 matchup.

This weekends game will be epic: the michigan wolverines vs. The michigan state spartans

If Robinson goes under his 4 interception per week average, Michigan wins by 30. But, he's really good at throwing 4 picks a week. I hope he becomes a wildcat back in the NFL, I hate watching good players like him put up stats like that. He does have good moments though 👍.

Let's talk rankings. Here are the AP rankings ("!" means unbeaten teams):
01 - LSU!
02 - Alabama!
03 - Oklahoma!
04 - Wisconsin!
05 - Boise State!
06 - Oklahoma State!
07 - Stanford!
08 - Clemson!
09 - Oregon
10 - Arkansas
11 - Michigan!
12 - Georgia Tech!
13 - West Virginia
14 - Nebraska
15 - South Carolina
16 - Illinois!
17 - Kansas State!
18 - Arizona State
19 - Virginia Tech
20 - Baylor
21 - Texas A&M
22 - Texas
23 - Michigan State
24 - Auburn
25 - Houston!

Wow... Texas A&M ahead of Texas in football. Imagine that! Any names surprise you here?

The Big East is looking for more football members. Check out this list of potential schools to join the Big East or be considered to join: http://collegesportsinfo.com/2011/10/11/big-east-expected-to-next-invite-ucf/ .

[UPDATE] I read on Yahoo! Sports that Mike Stoops was fired as Arizona coach. Not sure who will replace Stoops, but pretty sad to see him get let go from the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona has been vastly improving on the football side, though I still consider Arizona a basketball school.
