Yeah, I busted the aforementioned vessel reading that. Seriously? ECU is a long shot to get a twelfth spot for football only but UCF is getting an all-sports bid? God, I am so freakin' frustrated..

If Robinson goes under his 4 interception per week average, Michigan wins by 30. But, he's really good at throwing 4 picks a week. I hope he becomes a wildcat back in the NFL, I hate watching good players like him put up stats like that. He does have good moments though 👍.

I know robinsons good for the short throws but he throws alot of long ones in the middle of know where. Gardner is better for longshots but robinson is deadly. And theyre starting to use gardner and robinson in the same play.

Let's talk rankings. Here are the AP rankings ("!" means unbeaten teams):
01 - LSU!
02 - Alabama!
03 - Oklahoma!
04 - Wisconsin!
05 - Boise State!
06 - Oklahoma State!
07 - Stanford!
08 - Clemson!
09 - Oregon
10 - Arkansas
11 - Michigan!
12 - Georgia Tech!
13 - West Virginia
14 - Nebraska
15 - South Carolina
16 - Illinois!
17 - Kansas State!
18 - Arizona State
19 - Virginia Tech
20 - Baylor
21 - Texas A&M
22 - Texas
23 - Michigan State
24 - Auburn
25 - Houston!

Wow... Texas A&M ahead of Texas in football. Imagine that! Any names surprise you here?

Clemson, Illinois, Kansas State - don't usually see those teams in the top 25. Houston at 25, wow lol.

Theyre starting to use gardner and robinson in the same play.

That actually seems like a very smart plan.

Ohio state isnt even on there, WOW thats a surprise

Ohio State wasn't ranked, and then lost so that would be quite the long shot .

I just want all this realignment stuff to happen, so I can focus on cheering for my team rather than worrying about the future.

Please tell me that you're being sarcastic.

Well, if you've been away for two weeks, it's the first time they've been out of the Top 25 in probably a dozen (or more) years...maybe since the Cooper era.

BCS would make my life a lot better if Stanford played either Bama or LSU in their bowl game.

As remarkable as that is, how can anyone be surprised? No Tressel, no Pryor, several other players suspended...

They are supposed to be an elite program and consistently have one of the best recruiting classes every year. They should have been able to overcome the suspensions and at least been in the top 25 with the depth they have.

When you lose the man who kept it all together and the quarterback the team was built around, I think mediocrity is to be expected. I would've been much more amazed if Ohio State were actually competitive this year.

Coaches are replaceable, the players are the ones on the field winning the games. Pryor wasn't going to be around forever, they knew that, thats why you recruit players, to replace the old ones. And as I said they consistently have one of the best recruiting classes year in year out, they have the talent and depth, they should at least be in the top 25.

You can have every blue chip recruit you could want, but you aren't going to be winning BCS conference (or any games, see: scraping past Toledo) games until you can coach them to play together. That's why Tressel was indisposable. That's also why ECU kicked tail when Skip was here and why we suck the big one with Ruffin at the reins.

Not really a surprise to me.All teams at one point or another go through the rebuilding phase, or the rough times as some would say. Players, coaches come and go, it disrupts the program, then you have to start over.I am not picking on Michigan by any stretch of the matter, but look what happened to them the past couple of years. They got hit with infractions, lost a coach, players transferred ... it happens. They have since rebounded and now are riding atop the Big 10 alongside Wisconsin. It took them a few years, now they are seemingly a powerhouse in the Big 10 again. Congrats to Michigan for overcoming their time in the barrel, a team to be reckoned with for sure.

Trust me, we ( Ohio State ) are not that deep. We have a lot of youth and inexperience working in Columbus now-a-days.I have to say it, it's going to be our turn in the barrel for a few years until we mature.

I would've been much more amazed if Ohio State were actually competitive this year.

Exactly correct ! I had an idea that when we entered the 2011 season that it may be a rough ride, there was waaaaaay to much adversity working against us.The telltale sign came when we almost got beat by Toledo.....Toledo ? Really ! Oh boy, it's going to be a long season in Buckeye Land.

And as I said they consistently have one of the best recruiting classes year in year out, they have the talent and depth, they should at least be in the top 25.

Our recruiting is / was good ... we'll see what happens in the next few years. As said above, we are not really that deep. We are too young and inexperienced. We really need DeVier Posey (wr) and Dan "boom" Herron (rb) back in this lineup to give it a bit of spark.Unfortunately, it won't happen until the latter part of the season, I believe week 10 is when they can come back. (sigh)

Moving on .....

Are there any surprising teams that are not ranked in the BCS that are traditionally there ? Just a few to get started.

Ohio State
Florida State
Miami (Fl.)
USC
Florida
Georgia

Others ?

Yes a head coach is replaceable, but on short notice? Tressel spent most of his last months suspended from team operations and then he was gone with less than a month to go before the start of the season. Even Ohio State fans knew that the team was in bad shape going into the season.

And, yes of course there are freshman who were recruited to replace the outgoing players (I'm familiar with the basics of collegiate athletics, Captain Obvious), but they weren't developed yet and it's clearly showing. I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that the notion of Ohio State holding down a Top-25 slot for the season is a pipe dream for fanboys.

I was stating my opinion, last time I checked I can do that. And have you seen Ohio States schedule, Its not impossible for them to go 8-4 and be in 20-25 slot. They might lose to Wisconsin but then who else on their schedule can they not compete with? They lost to two top 25 teams in Michigan State and Nebraska only by a combined ten points. Illinois? Its funny how easy their first six games were. Michigan? Again easy schedule, overrated and over hyped. Purdue and Indiana should be easy wins, and Penn State isnt exactly a dangerous team at this point in time considering their poor schedule so far. And fanboy, NO.

Two FBS games are tonight- one in Mountain Time, and another in Pacific Time. San Diego State will head up to Colorado Springs to take on the United States Air Force Academy. It's Aztecs at Falcons! Then on the West Coast in the Bay Area, it's the USCal Trojans going up to Berkley to take on the Golden Bears of California. Cardinal and gold meets blue and gold in this Golden State showdown.

In addition to other games this weekend, enjoy this weekend of college football!

[UPDATE] The USCal/California game is being played at AT&T Park- home of the MLB's San Francisco Giants. That's my personal favorite ballpark. Too bad there can't be an outdoor field as lovely as AT&T Park for football. Anyhow, Trojans and Golden Bears in San Francisco.

We play Memphis, so we better get back on track this week. We are in dire need of a confidence booster.

A #1 team fell hard! That is... if you're a Division 2 fan. It was a battle of #1 vs. #2 as #2 Delta State played at #1 North Alabama last night. Sixty minutes wasn't enough. And in Overtime, Delta State won 30-24 over #1 North Alabama.

Tonight's match stays on the West Coast as Hawaii (or Hawai'i) plays at San Jose State in a WAC showdown. Now, it's been reported that Hawaii may remain in the WAC for football, but play in the non-football Big West conference for most other sports. Keep enjoying your college football weekend!

ESPN reports that the Big East plans to invite Air Force, Navy, and Boise in just football, and UCF in all sports. While that does leave two more spots, I will now need to go play Call of Duty to satisfy my urge to shoot something. I really do not want to have to watch my team play in a basement conference anymore, with the qualifications we have. At least the game tomorrow will (hopefully) get my mind off it. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Please.

Intriguing, Conference USA and the Mountain West are merging into a superconference. Awesome :D. If we can somehow get Boise to stay, we should get a BCS bid. If they do, I would be so very very happy. It will also give me a great excuse to tour parts of the West once I get my income going 👍.

This merged league better get a BCS bid, because the Big East is picking teams (SMU.. what? They were good 20 years ago, they suck now.) that have no qualifications compared to ECU.

There were BIG wins for Ohio State (at Illinois), Virginia (vs. Georgia Tech), and Texas A&M (vs. Baylor). Michigan State hosted Michigan, and Michigan State tamed the Wolverines for the fourth straight year. Michigan has usually fallen far from grace since. Time to see how the blue and maize handle the rest of the season after this loss in East Lansing.

Congratulations to all winners; tough luck to all losers in all games played up to the date of this post.

Finally, a quality win for my Pirates. Hopefully we can build on this and get to bowl eligibility. Seeing as it looks like we won't be invited to the Big East, hopefully our superconference becomes BCS worthy, especially with Boise since it seemed like they would. My Blue Devils also got trounced, but scored some at the end. Carolina lost though :D. Now off to watch ASU-Oregon, go Sun Devils!

UCLA at Arizona tonight. MANY more games coming up this weekend, so enjoy this weekend of college football!

Enjoy this weekend of college football! If you can believe it, Lee Corso made his 200th head gear pick. ESPN College Gameday just wrapped up in East Lansing, MI for the Wisconsin at Michigan State game. He donned the head gear of... Wisconsin for that game. You should have seen the whole deal with Lee Corso putting on all the different head gear and stuff. LOVE him! He's funny!

Among other games, we got Auburn at LSU, North Carolina at Clemson, Texas A&M at Iowa State, Utah at California, Oregon State at Washington State, Texas Tech at Oklahoma, Marshall at Houston, and much more... enjoy your college football!

We have Navy in Annapolis this weekend. We're 9 point underdogs, which is more generous than I expected. I have to go volunteer at 2, but I'm leaving early for the 3:30 kick. Die hard fanship is the best :). Hopefully Carolina loses and Duke wins, as well. I'm pulling for the Cougars as well, JohnBM.

Did anyone see that finish? I almost had a heart attack. Go Pirates. Great win. I feel like we got a little bit of our magic back.

According to this, the Big East wants to merge with ECU's new C-USA/MWC megaconference. May I just say, I think that would be absolutely awesome. There's no way they could take a BCS bid away from 1/4 of all FBS schools, and the division ECU seems to be in seems winnable, even this year :). Global Conference, its got a ring to it! Do you guys think there should be a conference realignment thread? It applies to all sports, not just football (unbeknownst to some ) and will definitely be happening past the end of the 2011 season, which is the subject of this thread.

Holy freakin' crap! Michigan State! This better not be a touchdown, c'mon officials, make the right call. That isn't indisputable. I feel like such a football nerd editing the same post all day every Saturday .

Darn. I really wanted Wilson to win the Heisman. At least Boise has one less team to hurdle. Bummer. Maybe Texas Tech will win. I guess that's my penance for ECU's Hail Mary working last year.

Good grief! Did you see the Wisconsin at Michigan State finish? When I tuned in, it was 4 seconds left in the game, tied at 31. Michigan State throws a Hail Mary bomb into the end zone. Wisconsin could have picked it off, but a Spartan was there to pick up the ball out of the air and cross the plane to upset Wisconsin 37-31. It was absolutely insane! I wish they'd play the hell out of this replay more than they when my Texans lost at Jacksonville on that Hail Mary play last year.

Congratulations to all winners from today's/tonight's games. Tough luck to all losers of today's/tonight's games. Congrats to Michigan State among others. My [Houston] Cougars blasted Marshall 63-28. I saw that East Carolina won their match in a close one. Florida State slapped around Maryland.

I suppose I could have explained the play a little better . I'm normally under the impression I'm just rambling to myself in this thread though :). That play did look exactly like the Jaguars play you mentioned though, John. I will be able to sleep once the Texas Tech game ends, hopefully they knock off Oklahoma. OSU at number 3 and Boise at 4 has a nice ring, especially since 1 or 2 has to lose in two weeks time 👍.

I should probably recap my game a little. :guilty: Dominique Davis (my avatar) set the all time NCAA record for consecutive completions, beating the record of a little-known quarterback by the name of Aaron Rodgers. Who? Now to the good part. Down 35-31, ECU heads down the field, converting two very, very iffy 3rd downs to score, making it 38-35. Navy gets the ball with less than 2 minutes to go, and drives into ECU territory. With about 30 seconds left, a Navy receiver drops a wide open touchdown pass. By wide open, I mean there was not a white jersey on my TV screen. Sad. Next play, Navy throws a ball into the end zone that seemed for sure a catch, but was reviewed and called incomplete. We still don't know how that worked out for us. Then, on the last play, the tying field goal hits the upright as the Pirates celebrate. Hence, my increased heart rate. You had to see it. I'm very proud of the way we have played this year, we have showed we can compete with some highly ranked teams and finish games. Go Pirates.

I siwtched to MSU-Cheesers when Stanford made their first punt of the game at the end of the 4th. I can't believe MSU made that play lol.

Now I'm watching the OU-Tech game. Go Raiders!
