Seriously, how do I hear so much from the guy who played Hercules in that one campy TV show from ages ago?
Yeah, he should share the attention with television's Chachi, Clark Kent and Mike Seaver, the guy who played the villain in License To Kill and the douchebag fed in Die Hard...and Jon Voight.

“Texas-Based Religious Right Activist”

Don’t worry, he’s already being mind controlled even without the vaccine through god and religion because god told him the vaccine is the mark of the beast and you should not take it.

Don't forget the kid from Silver Spoons.

Akin to the struggle to fathom the size of the universe, I'm struggling to fathom the ludicrous number of situations where I completely expect this guy would take the side of private enterprise's freedom. It's staggering to me how many people fail to follow their own supposed principles. I wonder how many times he's accused others of having an entitled attitude.....

So the right is having a serious meltdown because Lizzo played (rather well) a number of flutes from the National Archive, including a crystal one given to James Maddison.

I'm going to guess that:

A. they didn't know the damn thing existed prior to this
B. They didn't actually watch her play it
C. A number of characteristics of Lizzo's may be actually behind the 'outrage'

Admittedly I didn't know who he was and posted it because of how crazy the lawsuit will be and how even Libs of Tik Tok is now following the standard of begging for money from the gullible. Looking him up it makes sense that this guy is behind the Babylon Bee.

This bitch is having a normal one.
What the actual... desecrating and humiliating? Because someone played a flute?

The only thing humiliating about this is that the flute hasn't gotten more use in the last 200 years. There's a perfectly good flute out there and it's not getting played. I don't know if this is a great flute, like a Stradivarius of flutes... is this the McLaren F1 of flutes? Because it seems like if it's an amazing flute, maybe it should see some action. A great flute deserves a pair of lips to blow it, that's all I'm saying.

Gotta keep up the fake outrage. There is no way they were letting the outrage machine not touch a story that involves a proud black lady.

I mean I see a lot of the **** on the right and it feels forced. I don't get that from this. I agree with Popehat that these mother****ers are legitimately unwell and they desperately need company in their derangement.

Conservatives losing their **** over Lizzo playing James Madison's crystal flute (not a euphemism) is really something to behold.

Even if you take what's being said here at face value, and I absolutely do not, but even if you did. Um... ok?

Granting the (maybe false) premise that this was a stunt to show that today a black person can play a flute that was owned by the author of the 3/5ths compromise, in the spirit of "racial retribution" to show that in the end humanity triumphed over the troubled slavery-entangled start of America... just hand all of that premise to them... even go further and hand them the idea that this is purposefully to humiliate James Madison's memory on this particular issue...

So what?

First of all, does James Madison not deserve a little egg on his face for this issue? Secondly, it's a friggin flute! And it's not getting burned, smashed, or pissed on, it's getting played!

How I think they see it....the issue is not so much it's a black person - it's that it's a black person on the other side.

If, say, Candace Owens played the flute, "appropriately" dressed and sans twerking there would be no outrage. It's the fact that it's someone who "represents" the world view opposite to them that has got them riled up. But her characteristics, as Scaff pointed out, certainly add to their anger.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen so much uproar over a younger woman playing an old mans flute.

On a serious note, people really should be careful playing extremely old instruments, you never know when one may be under an ancient hex. One wrong string of notes and bam, zombie apocalypse!

All of the outrage is forced to an extent. They have to keep their base riled. That is the only way they keep themselves relevant. The unwell are being preyed upon. Those in charge are poking their insecurities, confirming their crappy beliefs, etc.

That the "influencers" are pandering to the ****wit base doesn't indicate they're above the pathetic mother****ery. They're all broken beyond repair. Every single one of the feckless ****s.

I could understand the outrage a bit more if it was someone like Cardi B or Niki Minaj with no measurable musical talent who was miming with the flute while twerking, but Lizzo is classically trained, and clearly to a very high level when you see the video of her in the Library of Congress, though I do wish she'd played it like that on stage rather than just a couple of trills. It hasn't just been given to anyone to try out. She certainly isn't the best flautist in America, but everyone knows who she is, so it's great publicity.

If you want to go down the race line, then I guess you can see this having symbolic value, since it's pretty clear where the money President Madison used to purchase that flute came from, and in being given access to it playing it she's "reclaiming" that wealth in one way.

I'm surprised it play as well as it does, since it's essentially just an ornament. I've never come across anyone in my time that plays a flute made of crystal, for the obvious reason that if you drop it it could smash to pieces. A handful of professional players still play wooden ones, but most play on silver ones, or if you have the money, gold. Similar to wine glasses and the glass harmonica it would be very resonant but not have the sharpness or clear-cutting sound that metal ones have.

Not the thread for it I know, but I have to take exception to this. They might not be classically trained flautists, but saying they have no musical talent is a bit of a stretch. Reminds me of that whole "yOu CaN't SpelL CrAp wItHoUt RaP" mindset, which coincidentally is often espoused by conservatives.

Makes me laugh whenever Kevin Sorbo says he hasn't gotten work. Last time I checked, he's been making 4, 5 Christian movies a year for the last decade or so. It's just that they were all risibly bad, clear propaganda pieces that did Christianity no favours.

This year alone, he has eleven films in pre-production stage. No work, huh?
