CORE AV8 Update
Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I have been working hard on a number of things which are included in this post. This will keep everyone updated on what is currently happening in the series.
Community Club
We are pleased to announce that we have created a Club for the CORE Australian V8 Supercar Series in the community section of the Gran Turismo game. Please join this club before next Sunday if you want to race in Round 4 as all races from now on will be run in the club. All drivers who have competed so far have been sent an invite, however if you are unable to accept the invite for any reason, then the Club ID is listed below.
Club ID: 1040138
Series Changes
With the addition of the club, this allows us to make a number of changes to the series in a bid to allow more drivers to take part in the series.
Entry Limits
From now on, there will be no limit on the number places available in the series. The only restriction will be that all drivers must be signed up to the series, have read and understood the rules and regulations, and have a selected car.
Pre-Qualifying
All drivers who wish to take part in a round must take part in the Pre-Qualifying race events before each round. Pre-Qualifying will be a 10 minute Time Trial event held in the week before the race. To Pre-Qualify. Drivers will head to the club, find the Qualifying session event for the upcoming round and enter the event. They are then free to take part in the time trial as many times as they like. If there are more than 15 drivers entered, it will help decide which drivers will be racing in that round. The event will then be closed 6 hours before the room opens, allowing the organisers to sort out the times before the race begins.
Round Eligibility
Places in the field for each round will be assigned as follows:
Places 1-10: Drivers ranked in the top 10 of the championship who have complete Pre-Qualifying.
Places 11-15: The 5 drivers ranked outside of the top 10 in Pre-Qualifying.
Places 16: Person who is recording races for CORE TV
In the event that the person recording the races for CORE TV is in the field for the round, then the 16th place in the round will be assigned to the next fastest car that did not qualify.
If any drivers in the top 10 are unable to take part in a round then their place will be made available to the next fastest driver in Pre-Qualifying.
Drivers can qualify to compete in each round in 2 ways:
- Be ranked in the Top 10 in the Series Drivers’ Standings and have taken part in Pre-Qualifying for the upcoming round.
- Be one of the fastest drivers in Pre-Qualifying.
Cars
With the changes to the number of spaces available, this means that the process of car selection needs to be altered, with the following rules now in place.
A manufacturer will not be allowed to represent more than 34% of the entries in a series.
If a manufacturer represents less than 15% of the field then that car must be selected before all other cars are made available.
Car Specs
We are also in the final stages of the balancing of the cars following Laguna Seca. The new specs will be announced as soon as they are finalised and hopefully this will mean that we will not have to make any more changes.
Race Results
The race stewards are currently in the process of reviewing incidents from all 3 races at Laguna Seca, so I can assure you that we are very close to finalising the results from round 3 and we will have the Stewards Reports, Results and Standings update in the next few days. We would like to apologize for the delay and also give a thank you to everyone for remaining patient.
Drivers Briefing
We will also have the drivers briefing up in the next few days with all the details for the upcoming Round at Brands Hatch.
