Great racing tonight. Nearly didnt make it, as had a few problems this end, so it was a stroke of luck that the connection issues arose, or I wouldnt have raced at all. Joined 2 mins before the race, so didnt get a quali, and started last. I managed to get up to 7th on lap 1, and was keeping up fairly well, until I put a wheel on the sand at Lesmo's and went sideways into the left brake marker.:banghead: I had to drive around it to rejoin the track, and came out in front of Cobrius as he came round. Sorry mate. I continued behind Cobrius in last place, and managed to pass at Parabolica. It was then a case of catching up. Omnius and Warrius first. It took me several laps, but after I had managed to get by, Jammy and Scanny were next. They were in a battle of their own, and I was making ground with every lap. Skanny then pitted, and Jammy started pulling away, so I pitted next lap. Then I had to do it all again. I finished 8th, and was pleased with that considering I missed quali, and nearly didnt make it at all. FL was 1:58.9xx.

Loved all your posts I missed when trying to get the room up and running. I was refreshing the page without noticing that 4 extra pages had appeared along the bottom :dunce:

Great racing everyone, and many thanks to Hillracing and johnkiller2 for the awesome racecraft tonight 👍

The games afoot gents, Fuel, Geordie & Dowlin even with the impressive run tonight have their work cut out :sly: I'm only gutted that Third wasn't here in the mix :(

Having said that, if we thought the MX-5's were nimble beasts for close racing, I'm sure next weeks Club Racing will throw up a classic race right to the end

Here's hoping! Race highlights should be up sometime tomorrow :D

Hey guys, I really enjoyed the race this eve. :)

Here is a summary of my race.....
I didn't have one of my rocket ship starts this time but I did manage to get up to 3rd place on lap 2 and stay there for a couple of laps hounding the leaders until a grass excursion put paid to that. (I spent the rest of the race admiring my black tyre marks into the barrier after the first chicane!). ;)

After that off I found myself back in 6th behind Geordie but a few seconds behind. I spent the next 5 laps reeling the group ahead of me back in and I passed Geordie and came up behind Dowlin39. But on lap 8 I cocked up big style again whilst behind the green machine, went off and further round the lap hit a barrier and damaged the engine, allowing scanny flick to get past. What a scruffy & disastrous lap that was!!!

I then had an awesome battle with scanny flick for about 6 laps, and during this time Ade was closing up on us because we were compromising each other. I then pitted at the end of lap 16 and scanny came out fractionally ahead. Omnius was in the mix at this point. I made a very opportunistic move through pair of them on lap 17, that was sweet! :D My battle with scanny raged a another lap or so, but I eventually broke his tow and pulled away bit by bit.

So all in all, I think I could have been a bit higher today judging by my early race performance and lap time (1:57.954), were it not for my mistakes.... If I can cut them out I may be able to get some better results. My pace was pretty reasonable and I enjoyed driving the little mazda immensely. 6th place was not a bad result though, looking at the caliber of the people ahead of me.

Ok well over and out for now. Oh and chatting to Omnius after the race managed to keep me online for another couple of hours, where did that time go?! Always enjoy a yarn about GT5!

Look forward to the next race guys!

Cracking race lads! The first 10 laps were the best racing I've seen, so close and so well behaved 👍. Managed to pull away from Dowlin after the pit stops when Hill and John had already run off. Gave up on trying to catch them and held it steady for a nice third place!

Sorry for not showing up. Fate played a technical trick on me. Came home from University work and noticed the Internet connection being slow as hell. So I reset my router by turning it off, resulting in smoke...

As a physics major I know, smoke emerging from electronics is never a good sign. RIP Speedport, you screwed up my evening plans...

Hope you had more fun than me. I can now fully admit, I'm addicted to Internet. Such a bad feeling not being able to go online. But the new Router seems to be doing its job now.

Don't worry Third. We almost didn't race due to some mean officials... (reread the last few pages to understand :P). Hope you're back for the club race next week.

Cool photos.

Thorowly enjoyed the racing last Friday. The MX-5 TC is a great car and the championship spec makes it possible to fiddle a bit with different downforce setting which I think is pretty cool.

Good job by Hillracing getting away from the pack and to create a gap. It took me quite a few more laps to do so, and when done the laptimes were pretty similar. Having said that, I was driving my socks off and maybe Hillracing was just cruising. I waited and waited with the pitstop hoping for rain to stear things up but it never came.

Took a quick spin in the club car, the Toyota GT86 I think its called. Did some laps at Grand Valley E reverse. Great car, very balanced. First corner is a very challanging where there are lots to win/lose ..... and if that wasn't enough ..... a beach too.

Round 1 - Monza - Championship Race - 11.1.13

R1-1.png

Are.We.Ready? Season 6 is finally GO!!! 👍

R1-2.png

Our new Swedish friend shows quite rightly why we all need to keep an eye on him, a perfect start gives Johnkiller2 the lead :)

R1-3.png

Brace yourself! It appears everyone has made it to the first chicane at the same time :nervous: Close racing is going to be order of the day!

R1-4.png

Fuelmyfire *just* sneaks into a slight lead as Johnkiller2 almost turns in too sharp :scared:

R1-5.png

OmniusALX looks on - It's BUSY

R1-6.png

:ouch: Cobrius (making his debut) steps the rear of his MX-5 out at the wrong moment as another one of our new drivers Scanny_Flick has nowhere to go :nervous:

R1-7.png

It's OmniusALX's turn to avoid the MX-5 of Cobrius :scared:

R1-8.png

Scanny_Flick made it out of the grinder only to run wide as Ade3210 takes the position with easy 👍

R1-9.png

Johnkiller2 looks on fire as Hillracing upon his return to the CORE GT Series keeps up the pressure!

R1-10.png

It's all or nothing as both Hillracing & Johnkiller2 approach the second chicane abreast

R1-11.png

Hillracing gets it and takes P1 👍

R1-12.png

OmniusALX, lights ablaze

R1-13.png

R1-14.png

Scanny_Flick closes on OmniusALX...the slipstream looks good

R1-15.png

Geordie139 (Defending Champ) has to contend with a sterling drive from Ade3210, starting at the back of the grid no less! 👍

R1-16.png

Doh! After a close run battle, Fuelmyfire goes wide at the first chicane only letting none other than Jammy_Rex through!

R1-17.png

WarriusZero on his return to the CORE GT Series shows OmniusALX how to take a corner  You'd be lucky to get a sheet of paper between those MX-5's :D

R1-18.png

Can Jammy_Rex hold it together for the race? As he sits nicely in third...

R1-19.png

It's the U.S. vs Sweden on the S/F straight...its all about the slipstream here

R1-20.png

Jammy_Rex thinking there might be a chance out breaks himself and 'rubs' Johnkiller2 as he makes the turn :ouch:

R1-21.png

Now where does Jammy_Rex go? Fuelmyfire & Johnkiller 2 with a sneaky Dowlin39 right on his tail :scared:

R1-22.png

Dowlin39 can only watch as Johnkiller2 nails the chicane as Fuel & Jammy do some lawn mowing :sly:

R1-23.png

Whereas Fuelmyfire got back onto the black stuff safely, Jammy_Rex's tyres were asked too much of

R1-24.png

Could this be an epic moment for our very own flying Scot? Can Fuelmyfire nab second from Johnkiller2???

R1-25.png

YES!!! 👍 Fuelmyfire has done it :D ...lets hope those dark clouds don't give way :nervous:

R1-26.png

Rivals reunited! Current Champ Geordie139 gives Dowlin39 something to watch in his mirrors...

R1-27.png

There's nothing in it! Fuel & Johan battle it out :scared:

R1-28.png

...it's Fuelmyfire who gets the tow back into 2nd :)

R1-29.png

R1-30.png

Back into the lead! Johnkiller2 is not giving up!

R1-31.png

I'm sure with having the defending champion on your tail, it's enough to make you lose concerntration, eh Jammy? :sly:

R1-32.png

It's looking as if Johnkiller2 has gained enough of a gap from Fuelmyfire to focus on catching Hillracing...

R1-33.png

Scanny_Flick shows Jammy_Rex he's not here just to make the numbers up!

R1-34.png

Dowlin39 reeling in Fuelmyfire...

R1-35.png

...it's SO close! 👍

R1-36.png

Scanny_Flick holding the position, Jammy_Rex looking for tow :)

R1-37.png

:ouch: Dowlin39's own worst enemy, himself! The pressure's off Fuel, ...for now ;)

R1-38.png

Hillracing - Unstoppable! 👍

R1-39.png

[Kerb Cam] - Johnkiller2 :)

R1-40.png

Jammy & Scanny - a double act?

R1-41.png

Threading the needle! Jammy_Rex makes good use of a bit of a touch from Scanny & OmniusALX through the chicane...

R1-42.png

OmniusALX can only look on as the battle resumes between Jammy & Scanny :D

R1-43.png

Cobrius has struggled at Monza, as he follows WarriusZero in the chicane

R1-44.png

R1-45.png

If it wasn't for the helmet visors, I'm sure Dowlin39 would be able to see the white of Geordie139's eyes!

R1-46.png

Dowlin39 - "Hmmm, he's close!"

R1-47.png

Geordie139 looks for ideas on how to pass the mean green Irish machine

R1-48.png

OmniusALX only wishes this could have been a formation lap...

R1-49.png

Cobrius' turn first to be lapped by Johnkiller2...

R1-50.png

An amazing drive by Johan, and excellent racecraft demonstrated by Cobrius & WarriusZero 👍

R1-51.png

A brief loss of concerntration and OmniusALX out breaks himself into the first chicane :dunce: ...yes that way Omnius!

R1-52.png

After a near perfect race, Hillracing throws the guantlet down to anyone who thinks they can stop him this season! Awesome racing and the win 👍 👍 👍

R1-53.png

Thats the way to do it! 👍 On his debut, Johnkiller2 takes 2nd in an epic 30 laps of Monza!

R1-54.png

The rains never came, but as if fate had delt it's hand, carrying the number 3 this season, Fuelmyfire takes his first step onto that podium with a 3rd place :) 👍

Well done to all who raced - next week, CLUB CARS! :D

Brilliant photos and race report as always Omnius :)

I like the shot of me sideways kicking up the dust with Geordie close behind! Lol, yeah the pressure of the reigning champ behind me must have got too much! ;)

Super cool pictures again, Omnius.

I don't really like Monza and I had virtually no practice (so my car was not tuned properly) so it was always going to be a struggle. At least I had fun racing with Cobrius and our host.

Next time I'll try harder. ;)

PlayStationEU has just tweeted new GT5 DLC is on the way! ...but the link in their tweet takes you to the wrong place, and now the tweet is 'dead' (can't retweet it) so I'm thinking they have accidently announced it eary

[EDIT]

Looks like I was right, and I was 99% sure it was going to be this, what with the 'camo' one we got not that long ago, and the Detroit Motor Show happening last night and Corvette's big 'reveal' 👍

Probably old news but here goes...

I've done some tests today to see what parts effect engine sound etc...

From my reseach (using one part at a time) there is only 2 items that can give your car a 'new' sound, these are as follows:

1. Exhaust
2. Gearbox

All other engine/drivetrain/intake mods don't change the sound your car makes apart from the additional sound a turbo makes - but if the car already comes with one as standard, the Low, Mid and High ones don't change or add anything. Obviously the exhaust makes the main difference be it the Sport, Semi Racing or Racing (each one sounds different) I actually like the sport exhaust better as it almost remains close to the original just a bit more beefy, the Semi works well for cars that end up sounding too 'F1' - that's if you don't want a high pitched exhaust note, and of course the Racing exhaust is the higher pitched waspy sound which does work on some high-end cars, but I've been fininding I'm more into the Semi racing sound on most of my high spec numbers :)

The gearbox was a strange one, but really an obvious one to be honest - if you fit either of the gearboxes (close ratio or FC) you add an additional whining noise that overlays the exhaust/engine note. The FC being much louder and noticable than the quieter close ratio boxes.

So there you go, experiment with different exhausts and gearboxes to find the sound you like :)

Friday see's us hit our first Club Racing event and if Round 1 was anything to go by in the MX-5, this should be even closer with our trio's of 86GT's, FRS's and BRZ's! :D

It's all about that first turn at GVE/R! Will Hillracing dominate and make it 2 from 2? Or can Johnkiller2 equalise the points??

Remember, it's 2 30 minute races in the Club (with reverse grid)

See you on the track gents!

My GT5 won't update....keeps rebooting my PS3 when I select update :indiff: :banghead:

[edit]

Ah, that's got it :) I waited a few seconds from the popup displaying before accepting the update and this time it worked

It's ok when there is a period of time between posts (ooh, page 200 and not long until 4000 posts!)

It's not the same out there in GTP when I'm on nights! It's like I'm in here on my own through the dead zone :ill:
