Depends on how it's built. If it's stripped, roll caged & tuned correctly, then yes, it'll probably have no problem terrorizing a C7 Corvette on a track.
First, stripping the interior really makes no difference to the weight. Adding a cage is unnecessary and actually would add that lost weight back and then some.

C7 Corvettes guys. Not glorified Go karts.
Glorified Go Karts FTW.

You're closing in on my ignore list pretty quickly.

Here are some recently leaked pictures:

hahaha.... And?

Why don't you go compare a Porsche CarerraGT's Cost/performance against an Ariel Atom V8.

Whats your point in your argument. We are talking about the Corvette, a car that ranks up there with the worlds best, And only costing a fraction of the price.

Your talking about Miata's... They simply don't compare.

How about removing the whole Air Conditioning unit, sound system, power steering, the whole retractable roof mechanism ( replace it with a lightweight removable hardtop ), install lightweight seats, install titanium full exhaust system ( usually 1/3 of original weight ), remove spare tire ? It might sounds extreme, but I assume it will save at least 50 - 75 kg ?

Sorry for the off topic, this will be the last :)

Cause I don't really give a rats ass about super cars. Just not my thing.

Having disassembled them bolt by bolt for 3 years, I can tell you it really makes hardly any difference depending on the model.

Thanks. 👍 I knew about that car, never thought they had finished it.

I've always looked at Corvettes as muscle cars....even though by today's standards they are far from it.

You know rosckolove, we relize you love the Corvette. However, its not really necessary to push your favorite on someone else. They don't like it, they don't like it. Just leave it be and just wait for the presentation, you're just spending unnecessary amounts of energy with your responses.

Likewise R1600Turbo, just ignore him already if he annoys you that much and lets just save these MX5 discussions for another thread.

I'm sorry, wait.. No i'm not.

You could say the same thing to the guy comparing a Miata to a Corvette. A ridiculous comparison. In a Corvette thread.

I actually agree more with R16 on this one. Their values and asthetics are pretty similar despite being different brands, power etc.

How did we go from Viper vs Corvette to Miata vs Corvette? :P

Because one who apparently hates American cars based on his crappy experience with a Cobalt and an overly enthusiastic Corvette fan clashing.

I don't understand and don't care at this point, I just want the arguing to stop.

My mistake. I thought I was in the C7 Corvette thread.

They are and have always been sportscars though.

True. But even still most people I know regard the old ones as muscle. Mostly because they were sold alongside the real ones.

We are, it still doesn't give you the right to post the type pf posts you did to the guy. He didn't make no comparison. He just flat out said he'd rather drive a Miata and you for some reason felt compelled to make posts that seemingly redicule his thoughts (as off-topic as they were). Look, Just drop this crap. You both are wasting time with these responses.

Like you said, we're in the Corvette C7 thread. Forget it and lets just put our attention on the reveal.

In all actuality I agree that a Miata with 40 grand in it would destroy a Corvette as a hot lapper.

But a Miata is not comparable to a Corvette. Thats like Comparing an F1 car against a Touring car. Just completely different classes of cars.

Sorry if I came off a little harsh turbo, mucho love and all that jazz :)

If the goal of the car is to become a track car, then, yes, it is necessary. I highly doubt the builder, with all his experience in the SCCA & similar series, would build the car stripped & with a roll cage for no reason.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Nothing like the Viper, either. And Bravo Jalopnik for getting the EARLY scoop and the actual production car a over a YEAR before it was even ready for the public (Nov 14, 2011).

I hope the next one will get some more curves and a slightly rounder shape.
The overall design is great though and indeed Stingray-esque.

If Ford shows the new 'Stang at the DAS, and it looks as good as this, I'ma have a fun time picking which one will be my next vehicle!
