Those are the classic FR sports car proportions.

With function comes form.

Basically these cars in this layout will look similar in profile if they are designed around cutting air and balancing weight. ;)

For example. The LMP class. The cars are similar.

Another real world example is animals. Take a racing dog and say a cheetah. They are similar in profile and form. Most performance dogs have similar profiles as well.

Or airplanes as another example. They all have the big wings at the middle , the little stabilizers at the back with one facing straight up. They taper at the nose and tail, and the wings are the same shape too.

So yeah, you can only change the form so much before you start limiting function.

Agreed. Thanks gentlemen for pointing that out. Pretty much, all of these cars will resemble each other to a point, but to say they are copies would be incorrect.

With that said, I don't see a Ferrari in this at all. I see a Corvette, that has been brought into modern times with moden headlamps with DRL, functional vents and scoops, and the what not. Remember that the outgoing model is over a decade old in design.

I see a mix of the GTR and the 599 splashed onto the C6 and love it. Absolutely love the front end and profile, the back is a bit overdone and could easily lose the funky square tail lights with the overhang on the sides.

Overall though, I really think it looks great. Hopefully it's even faster than it looks, very curious about the transmission and engine performance in standard models. :)

Any thoughts on the revived Stingray moniker? Personally I don't see how it's relevant to this design. If you're going to revive a name, don't just slap the badge on the side.

I ran a 2:19.9 on Suzuka Circuit with the C7 Final Prototype. I don't think a 2:18 is possible but you guys are free to try and beat me. I only did 3 laps so I'm sure it won't take long. I did get a car wash and oil change right away. I used the Sport Hard tires that it comes with.

2:19.9 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Final Prototype

465hp/6000rpm
476ft-lb/4500rpm
1500kg/3307lbs
7.1 lbs/hp
6.9 lbs/ft-lb

I have a thread tracking my progress on Suzuka Circuit with stock cars. I have over 300 now. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=268055

This C7 is 3.4 seconds faster than the 2004 Corvette Z06.

From what I heard/read (which may not be all that accurate, but its about what I remember), the team behind it have discussed bringing it back and wanting to, but the guy in charge said that it would only have that name if it was a significant advancement from the last car. There's also some design cues and the supposed idea that without being retro, its a homage to the original Stingray.
