Hmmm? Both of them are front-engined, rear-drive sports coupes. Of course they're going to look similar.

There is a magazine article I read on the LT1 in the C7.

It had a lot of information. I'll share this bit. "When the 450HP mark was announced. A few of the engineers began to chuckle"

Chevy's for the most part usually put out more power then they advertise, Depending who is doing the 3rd party testing.

P.S. The intake ports are HUGE.

Just because they are both FR coupes doesnt mean they need to look similar (body shape, hood, lights, shape, etc.).

And for those that aren't feeling the rear lights I have found some photoshoped variations: (Warning: high bandwidth)
First I think I prefer the rear end to be the body color instead of half black:

I sort of agree about the body colour being applied to the entire rear. That being said, I'll take the second one please.

I don't think I could confuse them, especially once you reach the doors and go beyond. The only place the look really similar up front are the lights, and only a little.

And they not just FR coupes, they're FR coupes designed to go corner well, go fast, seat a couple of occupants, and maintain a little bit road going practicality while satisfying universal regulations on car design for safety, etc.

Now they just need to take the 1st, 2nd, 5th and mix them all in one and then add round brake lights.

C7 has officially grown on me. I wasn't feeling the rear on the Jalopnik renderings, but it works now. After "driving it around and seeing it in action" so to speak. THAT.. is a vette. :-)

Wow, a convertible that looks pretty much as good as the hard top, that's a first for me, I like how a hardtop looks much more than a convertible %90 of the time.

Well... they say the engine is expected to also have 450lbs of torque, so unless the engine gets lazy in the top end it is either going to have more than 450hp or less than 450lb of torque.

Those rear photoshops make the new Vette look entirely different, but I like that white Stingray (Thin lighted back), the last one, and the one with the Wachuko license.

I don't like the rear... It looks like a new Camaro... Prefered round taillights. It lost the corvette look imo. Hope it will change.

I seem to be in the minority... but this car is supposed to be a Stingray.. and it really looks absolutely horrific to me, as a stingray.
It would make a great Transformer though.
Copy and paste modelling from the Camaro, which I also think looks terrible... I must therefore conclude that I have become.. old.

It would look a lot better if they got rid of that straight, flat part in between the tail lights and kept the same scooped-out surface along that whole section.

They also seriously need to drop the Gundam Eyeliner around the tail lights. If it were just the red light housing without any of that black crap, it would look so much better.

MUCH better!

This is by far the best alteration ever. It looks vastly superior to the treatment the actual car has. That said, all the others suck. The "round" (but cut off on top and bottom) lights do not meld well at all with the overall flow of the car, with it's sharp dynamic body lines.

As the above render points out, it's not the lights, it's the black eyes around the lights that throws it all off.

That render is much better. I actually think it's made me like the real one more knowing all that has to be done to make it look pretty is remove that horrific black stuff.

I'm sure the first aftermarket product will address the taillights/rear as its such a hot topic. So I'm very satisfied with the C7. 👍

And as far as the convertible, I was really hoping for a hardtop convertible as I absolutely hate the look when the soft top is up.

Something I thought about today in regard to the tail lights. I think chevy designers are going for a unique style that will seperate their sports cars from all the others. I looked at pictures to confirm, and all the big name sports cars have the round tail lights. It is a sports car tradition. Vettes, Ferraris, Veyrons, Skylines/GT-Rs, Ford GTs all have round tail lights. The thing that is going to make people know, at a glance, that they are seeing a Camero or a Corvette are gonna be the tail lights. Whether or not they are an ugly feature isn't as relavent as how they will promote brand awareness. I personally don't think they are that great looking, I think they should have angled them differently or made them maybe more trapizodinal, but when we see this car out on the street we will know without even thinking about it, that its a vette.

Dear GM,

Phone the man/woman who did this render, hire him/her now.

Looks cleaner and even better than the original, classic I'd say.

I really think the ones revelaed had all the options on it, mainly being the black vents. As said before, its a new car, you'd think they'd want to show it off in all the trim available. I think this render will be much more closer to the base model in reality.

It's the same kind of thing with the 3 barred lights on Mustangs. Instantly recognizable as a car.
Well, the steering wheel is better.

The C6 tail lights have always had that effect on me.

All Corvette rear ends are instantly recognizable, at least to me, except maybe the first couple generations.

I agree, at least to an extent. The design of the steering wheel should be more exotic and nicer to look at. It makes the interior look worse.

Motortrend's upcoming covor issue has various views of the C7. In one view of the yellow, the rear was painted in all yellow, not the half black bottom we have seen.
