It's funny but kinda sad at the same time. There's a bit of a joke in my family called the yellow test. The theory is that, if a car looks good in yellow there isn't a solid color that will look bad on it. Very few cars past this yellow test, and this is the first Vette to ever fail.

It's actually a good test.

Yep I think the C7 would look about as ridiculous as this

in yellow. It would basically look ricy

What do u mean "would"? There are already pics of it spotted in yellow

Never seen a picture of one in yellow. I am just saying I bet (without seeing it), judging by all of the black panels, it would look ricy. Just using my imagination.

Also the picture you linked has been deleted.

I just posted another. Just google yellow C7 💡

I still think everything above the bumpers should be painted the same color. Around the license plate can stay black. That works.

@ Eunos

The roof can be painted body colour, it is an optional standard roof. Also, the mirrors and rear spoiler were painted black as part of a package called 'carbon flash'.

There are also options of the grille, heat extractors and rear vents to be dark metallic grey, and not black.

That being said - I do agree about it being overstyled.

EDIT:

One of the few pictures with a body coloured roof

Several things I see that I feel like are not successfully resolved in the design.

1. The way the a-pillars and roof are black, yet the c-pillar is body colored. That abrupt transition looks very amateur to me. The roof of the car should appear visually strong, and with that 'break' in value/color it looks almost broken. Not good.

2. The rather large and black mirrors are very distracting and disrupt the lines of the car. And yet without the mirror exactly where it is, the transition of the hard-edge surface coming from the front and the hard-edge surface coming from the rear would be very awkward and vague. The size and placement of the mirror is poor, but I don't think a better solution is available.

3. The painted black heat extractor on the hood looks pretty boy-racer. I also find the little 'teeth' sprouting from the lower fascia pretty revolting, just as they are on the 370z.

The overall shape of the car is pretty strong, but the detailing is too fussy, too unresolved and too discontinuous. It looks very aftermarket, which is not a good thing.

It's funny that I actually don't mind the rear.

The black portion does a reasonable job of concealing the enormous ass of the car. If it was painted, it would look very heavy. The tailpipes are particularly nice, there is a real intensity to their design, but they don't look overstyled. I'd like to see that lip spoiler painted body color, as with the tail light surrounds. They look a little 'tacked-on' or, as I said above, aftermarket, painted black.

There was a certain athleticism and purposeful demeanor that the C5 and C6 had that the C7 seems to lack. I think it's about 15% overstyled. Because of it's simplicity, the Corvette, like the 911 is a tool for going fast. There shouldn't be much extra garnish because it takes away from the conceptual basis of the car, and that's why I love Corvettes and (previous) 911s. I think the C7, like the C4 when it was released, has a bit too much garnish.

I feel like we are entering a 1980s-like period again in the automotive realm. There is definitely a palpable infatuation for new, and questionably useful, technology just as there was in the 1980s with all the talking screens and such. I miss the 1990s.

Just so you know (As pointed out above), those bits colored in black (Roof, Mirrors, Rear Spoiler, heat Extractor) as well as the grille are all optional. They can be body color.

That last picture is strange it doesn't remind me of a Vette at all besides the front a bit, it reminds me a bit of a GTR rear end with a somewhat Ferrari side profile.

It's actually just the mirrors and spoiler that get painted black. The heat extractors are black. Or as a limited option they can be 'Cyber Grey". I believe so for the grille as well.

You know what looks absolutely ridiculous? The whole back end is sharp and angular, and then there are these four gigantic, out-of-place circles for exhaust pipes. They should've made two tips for them that look like the tail lights or something.

Are you really surprised by that? What should be more annoying is that they have had the same exhaust exit layout since 2000/2001 if memory serves me correctly. Spend all that time with development and why can't they give a new layout. I'd be cool to have the C7.R layout.

Side exhaust?

Side exhaust?

Yeah! It could be fun if done correctly, but then I could hear all the complaining about it being too much like a viper. However, it would be a cool to do the exit like the original stingray instead. Which is in line I think with what Omnis wants, but I want the trade mark side exhaust like they had from 65-67.

So am I the only one who likes it in the yellow then? For me it's comfortably the best of those shades, and suits the car just as well as yellow did with the C5 and C6...

And let's face it. The C7 will soon be developed into a GT car for the FIA WEC and similar. It'll be painted yellow, it'll sound magnificent and it'll look absolutely badass.

I quite like the look of the C7 in general. Those rear 3/4 views are the best I've seen yet. Maybe it's an easier design to appreciate without the emotional baggage associated with growing up in a place where Corvettes are the dog's danglies.

The front just looks Corvette-ish to me - less of a departure from the C6 than the rear is. I mean the whole car is still largely the same shape as the C4. It's very much an evolution of a popular design than anything too scary and new.

It already has been developed and the rendering for the GTE version can be seen at the Corvette Racing website I think. However, that car is the car that WEC will use two years from now so...

I always like the yellow, but blue and gunmetal always look greater to me and I think like you, the car is awesome looking. Some angles just make it seem different at times.

I see more C5/C6 from the front to the mid section it just has more edges like the C4 is known for, but it clearly shaped from the C6 with more sharpness than roundness.

I presume you can see what I mean though - since the C4, Corvettes have largely evolved in their details, rather than their overall shape. That pic you posted quite nicely illustrates it.

I think, on balance, I still prefer the C6 to the C7. But I'd not say no to a yellow C7...

Unlike the SRT Viper, I don't like this new Corvette all that much. I didn't really like the C6 much. I still prefer the C5 Corvette looks-wise... only except the retractable headlights on the C5 (sorry- never liked retractable headlights). I'm not one of the ones who'll say "it doesn't matter how it looks- as long as it goes like heck, I care." I just think a horrible job was done designing the car, with the worst of it at the rear. The sides are nice, and the front could use a serious makeover. The most damning detail of the Corvette is how the rear looks. If you were just to show me the rear of the car and not have any giveaways (such as the badging at the rear), I could faintly tell it is a Corvette because I'm used to circular or elliptical tail lights for a Corvette. This design at the back is... well, putrid.

Between the SRT Viper and the C7 Corvette, I'd still take the SRT Viper. That's just me.
