Apparently the C7 is pulling some really good 1/4 mile times stock. A user that is very credible (MC you know him: Snorman) pulled an 11.4 @ 118 with a 1.6 60ft. COMPLETELY bone stock down to the tires. He first ran an 11.6 then ran a few 11.5's very consistently as well, then the 11.4. This is with an Automatic 6 speed, as most of the faster times are all A6's. Ive seen the time slips. This was at ATCO raceway.

Here is a race between a stock 2014 Shelby GT500 vs stock 2014 C7:
(The GT500 doesn't catch the C7 until ~120mph. Of course once the Shelby catches him its gone. But then again, to be fair you're still comparing the BASE Vette 455hp to the top dawg 662hp Mustang.

I believe it's an incredibly high stall on the torque converter from what I read. I think it's a 4500rpm stall.

Finally got to test it out at Autocross

I was super impressed with it on a tight course even though this was my first time driving a pure RWD car in about 6 years. I tried all the different Performance Traction Modes on each run and ended up in full race mode which was good.. had the back end kick out a bit but it only took tiny corrections. I have to say the best part on a course like this was the brakes! They were great and let you enter the turn deep before you scrubbed off speed. I really enjoyed it and I ended up doing much better than I expected. the transition from GTR was pretty easy and i bet the GTR would have been maybe less than a second faster if that today on this particular course

One of my biggest gripes with the C7 is the entire lower back half is black (non color matching). Finally a fix.

Here's kind of a comparison, the Motor Trend cover has solid color rear.

I found this too, body color trim around the taillights. But I think it makes it look even more like a camaro:

I don't know that I like it with the paint color at the bottom now. I've gotten used to the black being there, and it looks funny.

That was fast.

Really curious what sort of engine this'll be running, as I've always preferred the Z06's NA, track-ready persona to the ZR1. Hoping for a punched out LT1 over the supercharged option :D

8,000 rpm from a 7.0L pushrod would be ridiculously expensive, and so, so worth it. I think I might sell my soul for that, if this lab report doesn't get to it first.

It's hard to imagine that GM would kill off such a popular engine so easily. It was the at the heart and soul of the rejuvenated Corvette as a sports car platform, and honestly, it's not all that out of date on a purely performance basis. That being said, switching to direct injection and adding variable timing like the LT1 could make it that much better, and I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility for GM to do it.

But, what do I really want?

A street version of the 5.5L mill in the C6.R GT2 (and presumably, C7.R GTE). At least 550 BHP, a good amount of torque, same ridiculous ability to rev like the LS7.

C'mon, GM. Do it!

Damn it why does GM keep reusing engine designations/names. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having engine designations? "That car has a LT1 in it?" "which LT1? the '70s one, 90s one or the new one?"

I understand that the car model names Z28,ZR1 ETC but damn the engine thing is annoying.
