I just picked up this special edition Motor Trend on the magazine shelf for $7. If you are into Corvettes I recommend it. It's all about the Stingray history from then till now, tech info and in depth look into the C7 in all aspects. It looks like this.

So my local Vette shop just dyno'd a brand new off the lot C7 that they're raffling off. Impressive numbers. 413RWHP and 425 rear wheel torque... That's quite potent for a base C7! I'll post the video soon.

IIRC, the LS7 was around 440whp? Is that correct?

On the dyno? If that is what you're asking then no most people claim 460 to 475 hp and I guess that's on a good day, the lower end of the spectrum is the number you have. And that's about as low as I've read or talked to anyone at a car show who owns one going down to.

I would say it could be something along the lines of the Viper ACR, but then again can they really go more hardcore then the Z06?

I thought the TA was suppose to be the ACR of the SRT GTS current model. As for the Z06 I think it alone is good enough to beat the current TA. So with that said, perhaps we are getting the ZR1 that we all wanted and cynics like me will end up being wrong. If that's the case the only thing I can see them doing is finally going bi-turbo or massive liter size.

Maybe since GM is finally getting with the times and getting into all the nice suspension tricks/setups, we'll get a car with push rod :sly:

Perhaps it's a cheaper model? I thought I had read somewhere that the Stingray was intended as a trim level for the base model.

I think it makes no sense because the base C7 is still affordable and selling like crazy. I just wouldn't want to see a cheap watered down version of Corvette that you see kids driving (like the highschool girls driving the base model V6 Mustangs).

Perhaps cheaper was the wrong word, but just a different trim altogether for the base model. My whole post revolved more around hearing that the Stingray wasn't meant to originally be the only model under the Z06.

But maybe plans changed. Can't see anything above the Z06 being introduced though, not when surely lots of orders have been placed.

Gotcha. Only thing I can think of is the Z06X extreme track car or a special/limited edition base C7, maybe even a Grand Sport. Although with the Z51 package as a step up above the base C7 that might not make much sense for right now. I do know the C6 Grand Sport's were the most popular.

QFT. I see those everywhere here.

This is what I was thinking. Going above the Z06, before the Z06 even exists, it just seems a bit ridiculous. If they're doing a "cheaper" Corvette, it makes reasonable business sense to drive up sales of the car back to previous numbers. It's been quite some time since the sales exceeded 20k, and I'd imagine that GM could use the extra sales to save on some of the development costs. Worst case scenario, I'm guessing that we end up with a cheaper Corvette (although, not by much) with the powertrain from the Silverado/Tahoe. If they want to get the old folks happy, they'll call it a 327, give it the 8-speed automatic, and a halfway sporty suspension that's a bit more happy cruising than setting serious lap times. Kick the thing out the door to start somewhere around $40k, and you've put enough difference between it and the Camaro SS, as well as the starting Stingray.

That, or its a Transformers Corvette.

My best guess is that it'll be a grand sport like a few people are speculating. Maybe the widebody of the upcoming Z06 with a much tamer aero setup and the wheels and brakes of the Z06.

The TA isnt a ACR replacement. Its more of a Viper "GT" more than anything. When the Zo6 comes out. There is no Viper for it to compete with, untill the ACR comes out.

Okay I never said it was the ACR replacement, just the current track ready car for the SRT GTS model viper which use to go to the ACR. I don't doubt an ACR variant is in the works nor do I imply in any fashion one way or the other before now.

With the recent news of low sales, paused production, & pulling from Le Mans, I'm not sure if the car will live long enough to see an ACR model produced. :indiff:

As far as the paused production though it seems as though it's not necessarily a bad thing. It could be Chrysler saving face but they claim this was expected... anyways [/offtopic]

Or perhaps it's a Hybrid Corvette?

As one recalls, the Stingray concept from a few years back (of Transformers fame) was a hybrid model. In theory, GM could convert their Two-Mode hybrid system to do duty in the Corvette, but, I was under the impression that it was shelved after the slow sales on the GMT900s and BMW axing their version on the X5/X6.

I'd love to see GM do something similar to a KERS system on the Corvette, start pushing some tech boundaries like they used to.
