Yes, I'd say they got it wrong. What is the problem with getting it wrong? There is no shame in getting something wrong, it's the way human knowledge has progressed since humans stood up and walked on two legs.

Absolutely there is no shame in getting anything wrong. That's not the issue here. The issue is the characterization of the interview (as has been pointed out a few times now).

That's your opinion. I'd say it your own personal bias at play ;)
Again, not a binary situation.

I always am, though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Heart rate's a solid 56, BP is 115/75, big-ass comfy chair is comfy.

You seem to have missed my question.

Back it up, or back it up.
I'm not obliged to answer any of your questions.

Relax dude, it's not good for you.
Show sources. It's really simple. Everyone here is able to have intellectual and informed conversations using links and sourced information to base everything in fact. Not doing that undermines everything we stand for in this threads. Have some respect for that.

You stated that I was being "accusatory". You back that up with evidence (which you will not find) or you withdraw it. This is not a request.

Comically you are accusing me of that (wrongly - you will not find your evidence), and of various other current behaviours (which is an appeal to emotion fallacy), while claiming other users are posting "lies" about you. That is not a good look.

Andrew, that's how your reply to me came across. If you say it wasn't then it must be so.

To be accusatory, one must accuse. My post contained no accusations of any kind.

I was also unaware we were on first-name terms, Neil.

You have it under every article you write on the site. I didn't realise you were unhappy for people to use it. I won't in future.

The good news on the vaccine front keeps rolling in:

Coronavirus updates: US should have 100 million doses of vaccine by end of year, Fauci says

It's a bold move to produce so much of a product that might not work on a large scale, but if the vaccines currently in testing prove to be effective then this will significantly help with the distribution to Americans. I get that there's only about a 50% acceptance rate at this time for the vaccine, but with a 100 million doses we could easily vaccinate medical staff and those at high risk pretty quickly with several doses left over to start rolling out to others. I just hope when the time comes I'm considered "medical staff" and can get in early for the vaccine. I know it comes with risks, but I'm willing to accept those risks.

Governor Jelly Belly is now allowing bars in Illinois to serve drinks for delivery and carry out.

This should go well.

Pfft ... your fancy vaccines. Seems like Ibuprofen is now the ticket:

I think they should skip straight to chicken soup & cut out the big pharmaceuticals altogether.

Business Minister Alok Sharma has gone into self-isolation after appearing to take ill whilst speaking at the dispatch box today.

Obviously the stupid MP rule isn't working.

I don't get why Parliment hasn't tried to get ahead towards the modern way of doing things for now and then go back to the traditional way of doing things when this has passed as for me, it makes more sense.

Useful study that's unfortunately bound to be reported on and quoted in misleading ways, specifically ignoring that it studied only in-hospital patients. ("These data do not apply to the use of any treatment regimen used in the ambulatory, out-of-hospital setting").

Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that it doesn't help with in-hospital patients, and maybe even out-patients - HCQ doesn't help with Malaria once you've got it! The positive outcome bias seen with ACE inhibitors and statins may not turn out to be positive if treatment only starts once someone is in hospital.

The UK trials using HCQ as a preventative will be interesting, although they are only just starting now.

Well we saw the various news stories plastered all over in the days following. I'd also seen some quotes from doctors sceptical of the findings but I had no idea how to evaluate them... turns out they are being taken seriously. So I guess it's a non-finding, at least for now, which won't be reported with anything like the same vigour.

The Lancet
Important scientific questions have been raised about data reported in the paper by Mandeep Mehra et al—Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine with or without a macrolide for treatment of COVID-19: a multinational registry analysis—published in The Lancet on May 22, 2020. Although an independent audit of the provenance and validity of the data has been commissioned by the authors not affiliated with Surgisphere and is ongoing, with results expected very shortly, we are issuing an Expression of Concern to alert readers to the fact that serious scientific questions have been brought to our attention. We will update this notice as soon as we have further information.

And...

The New England Journal of Medicine
On May 1, 2020, we published “Cardiovascular Disease, Drug Therapy, and Mortality in Covid-19,” a study of the effect of preexisting treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs) on Covid-19. This retrospective study used data drawn from an international database that included electronic health records from 169 hospitals on three continents. Recently, substantive concerns have been raised about the quality of the information in that database. We have asked the authors to provide evidence that the data are reliable. In the interim and for the benefit of our readers, we are publishing this Expression of Concern about the reliability of their conclusions.

Studies of ACE inhibitors and ARBs in Covid-19 can play an important role in patient care. We encourage readers to consult two other studies we published on May 1, 2020, that used independent data to reach their conclusions.

It appears to be a calculated ploy with regards to forcing MPs to deal with two-metre distancing at their place of work, in order to make them see how stupidly unworkable it is and encourage them to vote for alternatives.

That would involve thoughtful planning and thinking ahead. Based on what we've seen from this group, that's not going to result in something productive.

Covid19 is still here??!!

With all the riots going on, I thought Covid19 would have left by now already?? Wasn't that the purpose of all the riots? To chase Covid19 out of the country?

On a more serious note, it would seem Europe is opening up slowly...

Anyhow here has anything to say about that? Those of you in Europe, whats your take on it?

Mikey here ;), (and I will eat anything).

Here we have some absurd situation. Italy just opened the borders but Austria and Slovenia didn't. What that means is that Slovenian can enter or exit Italy but Italian can't enter Slovenia. Like the virus won't affect people from outside. I think we should keep isolated.
