CRAP Club Assetto Corsa Time Trials!! - New TTs, Sometime In The Future!!

This is my first entry to this series. I have to admit something is wrong with the car for me, it spins at every braking and every corner exit, I had to countersteer every time which is so annoying. After 30 min of practise on soft and medium tyres, it doesn't matter, although soft tyres have serious overheat problems just after 1 lap. This is the best time I've got:

Edit: I know what was the problem, I usually use Factory settings with TC and ABS because I like authenticy but I've never really checked that this car has none. So after turning them on (which isn't against the rules I think, if it is then my first time is my entry) I got a much better time. I maybe able to get a time around 2:02, but nothing more, I don't know how can you do a much better lap than this.

1:59.441 to start things off........Quite a nervous beast, more so under braking......Just a a case now of tidying up the lap, and not getting bogged down out of the slower corners when the TC kicks in (I hate TC!). Pretty close so far, this'll be a tense TT me thinks! :P

An outboard, ragged lap replay:

Hi @Dobermann92 and welcome.....Good job with the time.....Remember, you can try as much as you like to improve!!! The car requires smoothness, oh yes lol!!

A question about TC and the use of it. Many of the race cars in Assetto Corsa allow the user to adjust the Traction control strength,on the fly. The Maserati is one of them. What is the factory TC settings for this beast? I have TC and Brake Bias mapped to easy to reach buttons on my wheel. If changing TC while running this Time Trial is illegal, then my submitted times can be struck out as invalid. Thanks.

Yes man it's a great combo........The line you take is fine, we go by the track limits, as they're quite fair in AC, unlike PCARS2.....But keep TC and ABS as they are please @doblocruiser, as we always run with stock setups in the TTs. You can change tyre compound if you want though, and remove the fuel from the car. ;)

Post your best time from the in game timescreen when ever you want, and you can try as much as you want to improve. Have fun!! ;)

In all these "quotes" TC is referred... So I would like to be sure of which TC do we use... Factory ? Zero ?

Factory/stock TC is set to whatever Kunos put it to when you start a session, as it's returned to default each time by the game. I'm not sure what number the TC is on on the Maserati, as I haven't touched it lol. The best thing to do when starting a session is to leave the TC where it is fellas.

Maybe from the next TT we can just run with TC "off" on the the cars that have it, to avoid confusion, and make the TTs that bit tougher, with more skill needed with the right foot! ;)

If I had the time...
I play with a controller which can be a disadvantage but I've seen pro players doing laps close to their times with a proper wheel. I usually don't adjust the setup, just the fuel and the tyres (and occasionally downforce) because I don't know much about setups and don't have the time to test all of this myself.

'Factory settings' means driving it as it comes, so no tweaks to TC level. @HammyMansell would turn it off if he was allowed.

I thought the default was 3/8 (on PC), I'll have to check later. Whatever it is, it does cut in a bit too much for my liking, but at least it helps stop the soft tyres from overheating.

What is 3/8? So if I set the option to TC On, then it will be 8/8? Sorry, I don't know much about this feature.

This car has TC as standard, so setting it to 'On' instead of 'Factory' before you start a TT doesn't change anything. It has 8 levels of TC (not including 'off') that you can switch between while driving (or from the car setup screens), and when you do that to change to, say, TC level 3 the game displays it as TC: 3/8.

It's definitely not 8/8. Then it would kick in almost everywhere. It's probably at 4/8... guessing.

Actually I think it's the other way round! Think of a bigger number as allowing a bigger slide before it intervenes.

Wow this thread suddenly came alive! Great times by you guys  Seems like I flew straight into the hornet's nest

@HammyMansell that lap really gives impression you drive that car with a stick between your teeth 👍

TC is Standard on 3 with this car:tup:

Yes doblo, that's the way I always drive, full attack!

And yes, with a stick between my teeth, but I won't tell you what I have between my legs at the same time!! ;) :dopey:  Haha #NaughtyHamster!

It's great to have some new names here joining the TT! ;)

And @Dobermann92 good job with the controller, I tried it once, and found it very difficult after years on a wheel. And yes I like to keep the TTs on stock setup, that way it's the same for everyone, and I'm no expert tuner, I just drive the car's wheels off! :D

Hey guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR..

And with it comes my revitalised passion to get back to "CRAP"ING

Must say I was impressed to see this thread still going, and having some opportunity over the Xmas break to play AC (instead of the other big hitters), has reminded me how great this game still is, and much it has been missed.:D

Looking forward to putting some laps down, and seeing if I can work the rust out to chase down that pesky Hamster :mischievous:

Welcome back @hobbsy mate, and Happy New Year to you too!! Glad to have you here again, and yes get some laps in, and set a time in this TT!!

And pesky Hamster? Come on, you love me really! :D

I'd say it's a Love/Hate thing...!

Love the humour, fun and efforts you put in to keep us entertained and challenged...
Hate it when you think you a couple of tenths up on the legendary hamster, to then suffer that last minute, "oh I just put in one more lap and found a second"

:sly:

Thanks @Mirror_man

:D

I had some down time to do just that...

I do have to say that watching everyone's replays inspired me to give it another run. There's plenty of places where I can gain some 10ths, and go a little faster; but I am at the point where my hands are shaking from all the adrenaline and excitement. It's been a long time since I've pushed that hard.

Alright... Here's a time, incase I cannot get back to the sim.

And for the "Post a Replay" craze. This will probably be the most boring (and janky) replay in this thread...

That is a nice and tidy lap :) I like the way you drive, use the track. The car stays smooth most of the time and I think you can keep this style even if you go a bit later on on the brakes and earlier on the power. The curb you take before the run to the chikane makes you loose at least 3 or 4 tenths. Pretty sure actually you can hit that 01

Here comes a little rant. Disclaimer: you are nice guys and it isn't about you or your time trials. It is only about me but I've had to do this because I'm very frustrated.

So I tried to beat my previous time for 1,5 hour....and I got angry, because I wasn't even close to it. Most of my laps were invalidated and I couldn't take any curb without spinning. I almost broke my already dying controller too. That teached me that I should never try to beat my best time ever. Why? Because aside from 1 or 2 highlights per months I'm very bad in every video game. I usually dump around 300 hours into games I like but I cannot really improve in them. I'm very clumsy in real life (I break things constantly and bump my hands, feet into furnitures), I guess that is where this comes from so I cannot really help myself. Most of my team-mates (I refuse to call them friends because they say "You suck", "You are bad" very often, but at least they tolerate me) are for example platinum or gold players in Rainbow Six Siege and in Rocket League, I'm silver in both of these games. In online races I usually finish around 10th position (my best is 4th, my worst is 17th which was the last in that lobby (of course some of the players disconnected). Maybe I could improve if I devote my time to only one game, but I just can't, I got bored easily if I play a game too often. And even if I do there is no guarantee that I could improve at all, because biology is in the way. You can say that I'm not really bad because I'm usually in the middle when comes to rankings and positions which means I'm average, but this is the case in all of the games I play and that is frustrating because I'm never able to claim victory....that is why I prefer single player gaming over multiplayer ones to have a sense of accomplishment. Rant over.

I'm looking forward to the next round because to be honest I don't like the first sector of the Nürburgring GP at all.

Later on the brakes and earlier on the power? :nervous:

LOL. There's a mental block that's preventing me from doing that. It comes from years of using Sim Steering in Forza Motorsport games. I'm trying to unlearn that habit, but it ain't easy.
