CRAP GT6 - GT500 Sat 7 Nov 9pm EST (GMT-5)Open

I am unlikely to make the American muscle event next week due to wife and son's return from Holiday but I will be around for practice in the week.

that was fun while it lasted. Pulled in for gas, pressed ok and got the boot.ah well the room was very full and strained my coconutz.
Looking down the list of CRAPpers there last night the room title should have been "Ye Olde CRAPE Shoppe" ;)
Great racing with everyone again

Sorry to lose you Nosoks. There plenty of good clean-fought battles on track and you had a fair share of them. It was good to see so many familiar names including my old arch-rival Ejiff in the room and to welcome a couple of non -members, Cope for instance, who added to the event.

As for next weekends event, the Muscle Car was just a suggestion. Going to miss you 2 weeks running JSB. :(

Sorry I won't be there but I'll run an event in the week, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening depending on if anyone can make those from between 19:30 until 01:00 GMT. I'm thinking a Roadster only event. Will post regs this evening. Any suggestions or availability gratefully received.

Maybe jumping the gun a bit but is there any info on whats happening next Sat in case I need to save for more cars.

Hi Brian, welcome to the group. I think Pete will be running the event on Saturday using the same regs as from a few weeks ago. If you look back a page or so the details are in there.

Have you joined the CRAP GT6 community group? The link is in my signature or you can do it in game from the community section. The part of the name after CRAP is updated regularly with the date of our next race for quick reference. The regs we used last time for American muscle racing are also in an event on the GT6 club.

@RoadstercplPete is going to host another open lobby event this weekend. It will start at 1pm GMT in the main CRAP Racing lobby for approximately 3 hours and may continue beyond that. Join in anytime. If lots of members turn up we have the option to go private or even run multiple rooms. It might be good to limit room number to 14 to limit some of the disconnections.

Tracks will again be mixed / chosen by those present.

475pp American Road cars.
SM Tyres.
Tuning allowed.
SRF not allowed
Other aids are available for those who want them.
Damage will be on light.
First track: Le Sarthe '09

The room will be a public one but we will be expecting all drivers to abide by the usual GTP fair play rules. Any issues and we can make it private.

Register casual interest however you like

4 Just turn up. If the room is full message Pete and we'll open another.

Oh good! I do love my Yank tanks!

I will be up for a run out on Saturday :nervous:

As I am a complete newbie to GT6 let alone a Ps3 is it possible for some one to advise the best possible car and set up please.

What is SRF?

Hi Bryan,

There are several fairly affordable muscle cars you can choose from. I, personally, love my GT350, although I am pretty clueless about tuning, so tend not to mess with them too much. If you look in the tuning section here on GT Planet you may find some tunes that will suit your driving style.

SRF is skid recovery force.

1st-SRF= Skid Recovery Force. An artificial aid that corrects over exuberance. Lol

Possible Car: How long is a piece of string? Lol. My choice would probably be Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 0r Shelby GT350 '65. Both 50k credits and 453PP. Stick on LOUD exhaust, fully adjustable transmission, and adjustable suspension. Get it up to 475pp and buy SM tyres. Look in the tuning forum for a tune. Praiano does a 500pp one for the GT350 I believe and he uses a G27 too.

By using the term Roadster without prior consent you are in breach of copyright. My lawyers will be in touch henceforth....

On earlys this week so should be able to make it, Mark. Don't forget there is Champions League and Europa League this week although there are no Brit teams playing on Wednesday.

Ok, Wednesday evening it is. I'll post regs later tonight.

I think for the first race on Saturday I'm going to use Sarthe '09. 2 or maybe 3 laps.

Bry, I tried both of my suggested cars there and got lap times of between 4:54- 5:02 and 158mph top speed.

I would suggest, from my experience, that instead of increasing HP (loud exhaust excluded) you reduce the weight by the maximum and sacrifice some HP to get them under 475pp.Most of these cars have more power than they can safely handle and also an excessive amount of bulk. Just my thoughts :dunce:

Oh, and I sent you a friend request on the PS3.

Here are details of the midweek racing we're planning this Wednesday evening.

430pp Roadsters - Wed 18 Feb 7pm GMT

First Race: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Regulations

Tyres: SH
Full tuning allowed

Driving aids: All except SRF (Skid Recovery Force) can be used. Some of us don't use extra driving aids in the game, however you can use whichever ones you like.

Club Event Description
430pp Roadsters (2 seat convertibles) this Wed 18 Feb 7pm Hosted by JohnSchoonsBeard in main club lobby. TYRES SH. Max power settings may also be used pending further testing

Many of these cars will be fairly light and powerful. That combination can make them quite twitchy around corners (especially those funny MR2 thingies). They might need a tune and some careful throttle and brake control.

These cars and regs haven't been extensively tested so it is a work in progress so we can develop another set of cars we can have on regular rotation.

Helpful references to improve your online connection

Nice one Dan. I always lower the Mic quality when I set up a room. I may try it another step lower on Wednesday. I agree race quality can also be lowered. It makes it easier for lower quality connections to keep up. I'm guilty of using the recommended quality too often. Again I'll try it on Wednesday. Of course these issues never really show up until the room is close to full when everyone is sending data to 15 other connections. If one connection is slow, everyone can get lag issues.

Are there many controller users in these events?

Yes, we have always had a mix of controller and wheel users since the group started and that continues to this day. Feel free to join us. Join the CRAP Racing group from the communities section and you'll see all race planning updates appear in your timeline. The racing normally takes place from the main club lobby rather than each specific event.

Just had a quick run out managed 5:10, 140 top speed with the Shelby GT350 will try your thoughts 👍

Friends request accepted

How good are people generally? I've actually never actually raced a real race online in GT. I've messed around with some friends, but that's about it. No serious racing or anything like that. I have no idea how far behind the pack I would end up :P.

I am kind of interested though, at least for the events with somewhat slower cars. I think that would be easier for me :P.

I am new myself although I have been involved in two serious clean races and was lapped twice in each and slipped and spun all over the place BUT loved every second of it.

Don't worry about how far back you will be as I will most probably be even further back and don't forget all the top racers were in our position so they understand and do not ridicule they actually give advise on how you can improve and end up beating them

I will be racing Wed and Sat if your interested at least you wont be on your own as a newbie.

I will also be on this evening about 19:30hrs for practice if you wish to join me and maybe a pro will pop in and pass on some tips ;)
