For me, I honestly didn't know that, I just assumed the performance figures were similar. I don't research as much as I should. Can you provide me a source on that though?

Yeah. The 65 only had 2 seats, no luxury stuff. And was manual only. The 66 added the luxury (relatively speaking) of the standard Mustang. The 65 was also only available in white with blue stripes, 66 came in multiple colours.

Yeah, this was the 2nd reason I picked the 1966 GT350; simply due to having more colors to choose from. Yes, I know there's the livery editor, but there's no guarantee that the stripes people replicate will be accurate.

I think it'd be better to have slightly inaccurate stripes (that you could always do yourself) than be stuck with a model that's some 300+ pounds heavier from the factory.

I think it'd be better to have slightly inaccurate stripes (that you could always do yourself) than be stuck with a model that's some 300+ pounds heavier from the factory.

1st of all, where are you getting 300+ pounds from? When I looked it up; there was only a 140 pound difference in curb weight?

You'd be surprised how much air conditioning, carpeting, sound deadening, and a rear seat amongst other things weigh. 300 is a high estimate, but even at 140 that affects handling quite a bit.

If 10 stone doesn't matter, then why are racing cars underweight and use exacting ballast to bring it to the right amount? Why not just race a few pounds or a few stone above, since it doesn't matter.

So you're going to also ignore my point.

The thing is, every website I find has the weights for the 65 and 66 listed differently. I can find between 2750 and 2850 for the 65, and 2940 and 3100 for the 66. It's more art than science, apparently. At the very least, that's a 90 pound difference. And at most 350. No doubt due to options ticked off and just variance in individual cars. So even using your low-end 10 stone example, that's a big difference.
Not to mention the 66 doesn't have the heavy duty traction bars or the rear mounted battery of the 65. By any and all measure, the 66 is a lower performing and less competent version of the 65. Which is a point you have not disproven.

because I didn't ask for a point, I just wanted a source just to see if you're telling the truth. 300+ pounds is a bigger weight difference between 2 cars than the 140 or so pound difference I've seen.

Each website I've seen so far has shown close or if not, the same weight figures from both GT350s. The 1965 hanged around close or right at 2800lbs while the 1966 would hang at close or right at 2940 lbs. I haven't seen any sites that show either weighing past the 3,000 lb mark.
